Ancient Krete, 1562 BC. Sarmatia is a trainer for the Bull Rite, the dangerous, glamorous ceremony of bull-leaping that gave a young Kretan entry into adulthood. Fearn is healer from the distant northern Isle of Stones summoned for his skills to the sick-bed of Minos, the Kretan king. They meet on the dusty flagstones of the palace courtyard and both save a life. A year passes. They are betrothed, but Fearn has returned home and is chosen king of his small northern country. As king, master of storms, he cannot return to Krete. Fearn writes to Sarmatia releasing her from her vows - but is this what they really want? Sarmatia leaves Krete to search for Fearn. Many months and life-and-death adventures later, she is reunited with him. She and Fearn are still deeply in love but there is an unknown enemy working against them, one who will stop at nothing, even murder.

One of the first indie books I purchased. I was a bitg dismissive at first because I don't normally read romance--I wanted it primarily because it was set in bronze age Britain. But it was rather good! The author had obviously done some research on prehistoric Britain, and I found her sections of the female smith and the different tribes with their different cultures quite realistic.

A captivating tale of an enduring love tempered by time!

A captivating tale of an enduring love tempered by time, fate, diverging traditions, self- discovery, trials and challenges.

It features a love story of the main characters, hailing from two different races in Bronze Age times, which clouded into their differing way of life and belief. However, the paramours’ devotion to each other marvelously prevailed, amidst the intricacies of matters of the heart, within themselves and among other characters.

There are kings, queens, royal blood families, guards, peasants, smiths and slaves, enemies and allies, priestess and seer, people with extraordinary abilities, a journey-adventure on the land and the sea.

This book is unique by showcasing the enthralling characters who have alter-egos of animals that convey their bare, inner souls and can make or break one’s fate and destiny.

I enjoyed reading from start to finish. Lindsay is a master weaver of fantasy, based on ancient history setting, romantic tales!
