He would go anywhere, do anything, to find her. Tarvik finds the gate that Claire used to return to our world and follows her. without know of anything in our time,. of clocks, trucks or schools.

Claire and Nance are back in Seattle. Nance learning to read and Claire teaching astology at the Mudflat Neighborhood Center. Two of Claire's students bring in a soaking wet fellow in a woolen cape and a really nifty sword. The lost (on both sides) has been found!

The story of Claire, Nance, Tarvik and others cxontinues with the same off the wall humor and mystery that the first par tof theis series brought us. The Decko brothers are still trouble, Roger (the troll in Claaire's basement) becomes a friend and all seems well. Then a Mudflat family disappears. Searches are made to no good end until the three plus Claire's cousin Jimmy join together to find them; each using their own skills in combination. The villain is slain, the lost found and all seems well. Not.

A fun continuation of the up-and-down romance of Claire, a resident astrologer of a magical district of Seattle, and a barbarian prince. Tarvik, the prince, is the ultimate hottie but prone to trouble. Also keeping Claire running from one end of Seattle to Cascade mountains are a nasty magical creature, a villain that she isn't expecting, and a pair of con man brothers who keep trying to involve Claire in their plots.

The overall tone of this series reminds me of Jim Butcher's Dresden Files, mystery/action urban fantasy. Matthews avoids the usual vampire/werewolf cliches of the genre and, with Claire's magic based on astrology, delivers fresh fantasy. The book is now out in paperback at Amazon.com, BN.com and others, great for those of us who don't own a Kindle.

Several months have passed since the events in the first book of the Mudflat series Tarbaby Trouble. Claire seems to be getting back into the swing of things and Nance is learning her way around the modern world fairly well. This book is actually set in Seattle as opposed to the last one that was in Tarvik’s barbarian world...

This is the second book in the Mudflat series and is an 2009 Eppie finalist in the Fantasy/Paranormal Romance category. The adventure takes place in contemporary Seattle and the nearby Cascade mountains.

Fun. The version I read is titled "Welcome to Mayhem, Baby." This whole series appears to have slightly different titles here.
