When Daisy books a Sixties extravaganza on the internet, she thinks hippies and free love. Only she misses one tiny word in the advertisement and ends up at a weekend for over-sixties at Bedlingham Manor. When sexy hotel manager Jake casts Daisy as a nun in the murder mystery, she is ready to scream and call the weekend off. But then Jake shows up dressed as a priest and he can't wait to uncover the red lace beneath the nun costume. Jake and Daisy don't expect to fall in love but they discover that their weekend of hot sex might be much more than they bargained for.
Barbara Elsborg lives in Kent in the south of England. She always wanted to be a spy, but having confessed to everyone without them even resorting to torture, she decided it was not for her. Volcanology scorched her feet. A morbid fear of sharks put paid to marine biology. So instead, she spent several years successfully selling cyanide.
After dragging up two rotten, ungrateful children and frustrating her sexy, devoted, wonderful husband (who can now stop twisting her arm) she finally has time to conduct an affair with an electrifying plugged-in male, her laptop.
Her books feature quirky heroines and bad boys, and she hopes they are as much fun to read as they are to write.
Perfect Timing is a super cute romance, and very, very funny! Jake is downright adorable, and literally just about perfect. He has a bit of a journey to work through, and my heart broke several times for sweet Daisy, but I kept the faith that her feelings weren't misplaced.
It's a good thing I've already bought Something About Polly because I just can't wait to see Adrian get what he deserves! Knowing Barbara Elsborg, what he's gonna get will be nights of passion with a spunky, confident, witty gal - but I can't wait to find out how it all goes down.
Good and above average erotic romance. The author has a nice writing style. I chuckled several times at her thinking.
STORY BRIEF: Daisy books a Murder Mystery Weekend at the Bedlingham Manor (hotel). She thinks it is set in the sixties (hippies and free love) but finds it’s for the over-sixty crowd. She’s only 27. The sexy hotel manager Jake can’t stay away from her, and they begin a wild and wonderful affair. As part of an edict from his wealthy father, Jake must avoid having sex with women for six months, to prove his character. He blows it when he meets Daisy. He tries to keep her a secret which is a problem for her. Jake’s brother Adrian tries to sabotage Jake’s efforts.
REVIEWER’S OPINION: I liked the characters and the plot. The storyline was different for a romance novel. I enjoyed the hotel guests being assigned roles and given costumes and words to say as they play-acted for the weekend and tried to solve the mystery. The sex scenes were lustful and long. I enjoyed Jake’s inability to control himself, practically tackling her on more than one occasion. However a couple of times I found myself skimming parts of a sex scene, but I still recommend the book.
DATA: Story length: 192 pages. Swearing language: strong. Sexual language: strong/erotic. Number of sex scenes: 10, most were several pages long. There is some rear door activity and sex toys. Setting: current day England. Copyright: 2008. Genre: erotic contemporary romance.
I am totally at a loss on how to describe this book, it has me asking myself two questions, WTF did i just read and why did I enjoy it so chuffing much?
The start had me cringing, then I was laughing, then sniggering, then oh my is it hot in here, then awww thats so sweet, then bloody hell, then thats just ridiculous and then back to cringing!
Holy ball sucking, butt plugging, whilst having a sweet romantic picnic in the woods batman!
A funny, sometimes far fetched, kinky, sweet and cute love story! Confused? Me too!
Have to be honest though, bottom line, it was an entertaining read.........
This was a pretty good story. I really liked Daisy and Jake and liked their story of love at first sight (almost).
Daisy is a sweet woman that hasn't had things easy. From her mother onward, no one has ever really made an effort for her or made her feel wanted. She's tried to find "Mr. Right" but has no luck in love. In an effort to get away and have some fun she goes to a theme weekend that wasn't quite what she expected. She thinks her mini-vacation has been ruined but when things get steamy with Jake she decided to stick around. Things become difficult when he seems to be embarrassed by her and keeps hiding her away.
Jake has been a playboy and always lived in the shadow of his older brother. His Father gave him a chance to compete against his brother in running their Manor. They each get 6 months to show how well they can run it and they also have to prove themselves able to be in a serious relationship. Jake has to stop sleeping around and had for a month when Daisy shows up. He can't resister her though and ends up slipping. In order to keep it from his father he tried to keep it a secret (not realizing just how much this bothers Daisy or why).
I liked both Daisy and Jake and was rooting for them. It must have been difficult for the author to making things believable in the story because this is pretty much a love at first sight situation but I think she did well. Daisy and Jake both felt deep feelings pretty quickly but kept their feeling back because of fear and the speed at which all happened. I think it would have been easier if not for Jake's need to hide things. To be honest; Jake had some definite moments of relationship dumbassedness because if he'd been willing to admit from the beginning that he felt something more for Daisy he wouldn't have had an issue. He didn't have to stay celibate, he just was supposed to stop sleeping around and have a serious relationship.
Fortunately Jake comes around and decides he wont lose Daisy. He stands up to his Father about his relationship with Daisy and ends up getting his Father's approval. A problem shows up when Jake's brother (Adrian) interferes and drives Daisy away with lies and Jake has to win her back. I was very happy to see them together in the end. Some of their problems were of their own making (but isn't that so like real life) but it's good that they were able to work them out and able to gain happiness for their effort. I really despised Adrian though...such an unmitigated ass! I wanted to reach through my Kindle and just smack him a few times. I will admit I'm a little disappointed that Jake didn't at least give him a black eye...Adrian deserved it.
This was a pretty good book. I really enjoyed the characters (well, except Adrian but I guess even he had his point in the story) and was happy with the way it ended. Even though I thought Adrian was an ass I am going to read the next book in the series just because I HAVE to see how Barbara manages to make him lovable in the next story. I enjoyed reading this story and would recommend it.
I've read Something about Polly a few years back before I read this story. I've been given glimpses of Adrian's personality here which is not good. Anyway, this is the story of his brother Jake and Daisy and how they fall in love. I observed from all of Miss Elsborg's books that almost all of the heroines have weird names (Daisy Leaf, Cayenne Pepper, etc.) and have the same build and hairstyle. The problem with Daisy is that she always expect the worst, but she has the strength to move on with her life. Jake, on the other hand can't make his decisions on certain important things. The ending is sweet, on how Jake stood up for what he wants and I like the fact that his father is not as haughty as Adrian in terms of "bloodlines". This story is enjoyable and will recommend to those who like one night stand that blossom to romance stories.
Sometimes we make mistakes. Sometimes those mistakes turn up the heat.
A single word changes Daisy Leaf's weekend extravaganza. Old farts set up for a murder mystery shrivel Daisy's hopes for hippies and free love. Her interest peeks when red-hot Jake shows up in his priestly attire. GAME ON!
Daisy winds up having the time of her life and certainly finds entertainment . . . in more ways than she'd imagined. Over sixties isn't so bad, but hotel manager, Jake, is the bad boy we'd all like to entertain.
Love, lust, jealousy, betrayal, comedy, romance--this erotic tale has it all. Loved, loved, loved it!
I can't say enough good things about this book. I also can't tell you how many times I snorted out loud while reading it. Daisy, the heroine, books a mystery weekend at a hotel only to find out it's for the sixty-five and older set. As a twenty-something, she's not very happy about this until she meets the hotel manager. Things get hot right from the get-go, and hysterical. Barbara does a wonderful job of motivating her characters and the ending is very satisfying. If you're looking for a funny contemporary romance with hot love scenes, this book won't disappoint.
I liked this but didn't love it like the others I have read by her. There was too much sex and not enough dialogue between the characters. Usually there us an equal balance but this one I wasn't feeling the connection between the characters that I usually feel with this author. Barbara Elsborg is still one of my favorite authors and I look forward to reading all her books.
This would have been better if Daisy didn't let herself get pushed around so much and if somebody broke something of Adrian's... like say his face! Boy was he annoying. Don't think I can read the next book cause I didn't like him.
