Two years ago, Sage Miller's life changed irrevocably with one violent act. Longing for anonymity, she relocated to the coast of North Carolina. Just when her life is settling down, a sexy man from her past shows up and wants to pick up where their explosive relationship left off. And this time, he's the one calling the shots.
Trent Takoda spent a week with the most intense woman he'd ever met-before she disappeared in the dead of night. Now that he's found her again, he's not letting go. When a vicious stalker with ties to her past tracks her down, all bets are off. She belongs to him and it's about damn time she realized it.
Katie Reus® is the USA Today bestselling author of the Endgame trilogy, the MacArthur Family series and the Deadly Ops series. She fell in love with romance at a young age thanks to books she pilfered from her mom's stash. Years later she loves reading romance almost as much as she loves writing it. 4 - "I wish we could stay like this forever." Stars!
Another stellar read from Katie Reus/Savannah Stuart. Sexy, romantic suspense is really a genre where this author can do no wrong for me, and Dangerous Deception certainly ticked all of the aforementioned boxes.
Sage has spent the last 18 months trying to forget the week she spent with Trent Takoda, a week filled with sexy-times, and more importantly a break from the life she has since left behind. It comes as more than a surprise when he walks onto the job-site that she is visiting with her new boss, and it’s even more of a shock when she discovers they are actually brothers.
The man she has taken pains to forget is once again ‘front and center’ and not just in her dreams this time. But danger lurks, and the threat she thought that she had left behind comes skulking out of the shadows… As you would expect the authors usual ‘Alpha Sexiness’ is at its highest setting with Trent, and as soon as he realizes that the woman he has fallen for is in danger, he goes into full-on protection mode.
”I’m not taking any chances with your safety and I’m not walking away from you. Deal with it.”
This was a really quick and enjoyable read, the end was more of a sparkler than full on fireworks, but overall well worth a couple of hours of my time.

"Trent Takoda stared at the backside of the sexiest woman he'd ever met. A woman he'd spent months trying to find. To discover she was working for his brother was almost too much irony. He didn't know if he should laugh, cry, or get a drink. Maybe he'd do all three later.
DANGEROUS DECEPTION by Savannah Stuart/Katie Reus is a steamy, fast-paced contemporary tale of high stakes action. I am undoubtedly and unabashedly hooked on Katie's racier line of books published under her alternate name of Savannah Stuart! DANGEROUS DECEPTION is a second chance at love story told from several third-person perspectives. It's a quick read, but it doesn't feel that way. It's sexy and suspenseful, with fully-developed characterizations. It's totally addicting and you will want to read it in one sitting.
This is the story of former Navy SEAL Trent Takoda and Sage Miller. The couple had enjoyed one steamy week ensconced at a B&B almost two years ago. It had occurred during an intensely turbulent crossroads period for Sage as her sister's murder trial had just come to a close and Sage had quit her job to start a new life at a place still-to-be-determined. She didn't want to say goodbye to him, so she just left him in the middle of the night. However, she has never forgotten him. She's not seriously dated anyone else since.
Fast-forward to present day. Sage has settled down into a job that she loves. She's scared, though, by an anonymous stalker's threatening phone calls which reference events surrounding her sister's murder. She's verified with the state's attorney, that her sister's killer is still safely in prison - so she doesn't understand who would be after her and privy to the circumstances of her sister's murder. Then...she shockingly meets her boss's new partner - who happens to be his brother and the man of her dreams. One part of her wants to happy dance; the other doesn't want him to be drawn into the danger that surrounds her.
Trent spent months searching for the elusive woman who still taunts him in his dreams. He can't believe she's been working for his brother all along. When he finds that she's in danger, he goes into full-protection mode. Trent is an alpha male who's not letting Sage walk out of his life a second time.

I simply could not put this tale down once I'd started it. I highly recommend DANGEROUS DECEPTION to anyone who enjoys racy romantic thrillers!

This is a short story that can be read in one night but is a very good book. Trent Takoda, left the Navy Seals and was staying at a B&B when he met Sage Miller. They hit it off right away and spent the next five days and nights together. Doing something he thought he would never do he asked her to go home with him the next day, she did not say anything except for them going back to bed and I don’t mean for sleeping. The next morning when Trent wakes up she is gone like the wind. She had left in the middle of the or early in the morning. The story then moves forward almost two years and Sage is working for a contractor doing his books, appointments, and mainly making sure that he makes it on time for all of his meetings. On the way to one of those he mentions to her that his brother has finally agreed to come aboard to his company and will be starting on the next project, and should be arriving that very same day. When they arrive at the job site lo and behold Trent comes out of a truck and is floored by the site of Sage standing there. The brother asks if they know each other, he says yes and her no. he tells them to figure it out and goes to his meeting. Trent is happy to see her, but upset for her taking off like she did and then searching for her for a 1 & ½ and still could not find her. The day goes along and when she goes home the front door to her house is open, and she calls her boss who sends Trent. He calls a friend on the police force and what they find in the house scares them all but she will not open up to Trent only to the police. He finally tired of not knowing calls a couple of ex Seals who are in security, and back grounds and finds out more to her story. That she finally tells him included her sister that was murdered back in New York. From there this story really is packed with action and emotion. I won’t go into it but this is a very good book and the story line from a women’s point of view and what happens when they are being stalked is scary. An excellent book. I got this book from net galley.
Trent couldn´t forget the gorgeous woman he connected with over a week at a BnB, but she vanishes and he´s still clueless eighteen months later. That´s when he relocates to his brothers business, and guess who´s working there? Sage had to leave New York, her job and friends, when her sister was murdered. She just couldn´t stay and instead headed out with the purpose of fulfilling their bucket list. When she finally settles down with a job, she never expected the unforgettable man to appear, but here he is. When it turns out not only Trent found her, but someone threatening her, Trent will go all the way to keep her safe. Will he be able to? Contemporary Suspense, action and smutty fluff in a great combo. Disclaimer; I was given a free copy in exchange for an honest review.
First let me preface this review by saying, this book is a short so I get that some details aren't fully developed and the reader is left to fill in the blanks. However, the dialogue became monotonous, which is REALLY unusual for a short, because the author used "What?" as a means to further the dialogue CONSTANTLY. In my humble opinion, the author was just being lazy! I wasn't sure if the characters were stupid or deaf. The premise of the story is that Sage was stalked which resulted in her sister's death, but Trent (her love interest in the story) seems to be sort of stalker-ish as well which sort of turned me off. He was also extremely pushy. He may have been sexy as hell with a body of a god, but that didn't give him the right to order Sage around like a puppy. However, when she pushed back, she seemed bitchy. It was a very odd combination of push pull that, as a reader, left me very confused. I have read similar dynamics in other romance novels that didn't leave me so confused which leads me to believe that the distasteful dynamic was the authors fault, and would not have existed in at the hands of a more skillful writer. My final complaint came at the end of the book. The author wrote "A few bright flashes surrounded them and she was vaguely aware when something ripped through her shoulder." Without giving anything away, that sentence would lead a reader to believe that Sage was somehow injured, and yet not another word about her shoulder even when Trent asked an EMT to check her out. To use the authors favorite word "What?" As if all that weren't enough to confuse me, the last chapter was rushed because the author threw in Trent's mother and all kinds of unnecessary baggage which just confused me even more! Total CRAP. However, if you don't mind inconsistencies, poor dialogue, and lots of confusion, the sex scenes were good, not great, but good.
After suffering tragedy, Sage moves to a small town, leaving Trent, the hot guy she'd been having steamy sex with for a week. He was supposed to have been a one night stand. Eighteen months later, she's still dreaming about the guy she left behind and he shows up at her new job as a coworker. This was melodramatic, over-the-top and much of it felt contrived, making it hard to enjoy the book.
Very short smut novella. Sage and Trent have a very nice week of sex together and Trent starts thinking maybe they've got something going here. But Sage takes off in the middle of the night, for reasons. Trent shows up in Sage's life a year and a half later and the attraction is still as strong as ever, but Sage's reasons are still very much in place. She's in danger and Trent is determined to keep her safe, while Sage is only trying to protect Trent by pushing him away. Of course lots of sex ensues in the meantime.
This was good, but might have been better with a bit more development. Sure, Sage has good reasons for taking off, but she's pretty shitty to Trent while he's simply looking for an explanation for why she took off that night. Trent on the other hand is a bit over-whelming with his take charge attitude... I mean, he crosses boundaries and assumes control. And it seemed strange since they'd only known each other a week. His attitude might have made more sense if they'd known each other longer or the insta-love connection had been made clearer in the prologue. It was good, quick and delightfully smutty!

REVIEW: DANGEROUS DECEPTION is a re-release contemporary, adult, romantic suspense novella by Katie Reus written as Savannah Stuart. This is former Navy SEAL Trent Takoda, and Sage Miller’s storyline.
Told from several third person perspectives DANGEROUS DECEPTION is a second chance story of romance and suspense. Two years earlier, following a tumultuous time in her life, Sage Miller spent one glorious week with Trent Takoda, and in the ensuing years, Trent has never forgotten the woman who walked out of his life without so much as a good-bye. Fast forward to present day wherein Sage finds herself the victim of a stalker, whose threats are too similar to the person that took the life of someone she loved. Enter Trent Takoda, Sage’s boss’s brother, and the man with whom she had fallen in love years before.
DANGEROUS DECEPTION is a sexually graphic and erotic short story about two people whose lives crossed paths two years earlier, and would cross once again through circumstance and family. While Trent tries to ensure Sage’s protection, Sage continues to push Trent away in the hopes of keeping him safe and out of the line of fire.
Katie Reus (Savannah Stuart) writes a passionate tale of mystery and suspense, romance and love, moving forward and letting go of the past. The premise is intriguing; the characters are colorful and intoxicating; the romance is a quick build to a happily ever after. You can never go wrong with Katie Reus.
When a story opens to a prologue with a steamy sexual encounter between two people who have made a strong connection and the woman’s inner thoughts are of the regret she’s already feeling over what she has to do, leave him without a word when she doesn’t want to, you know that the story is going to be very interesting as it has captured your attention quickly.
It’s been eighteen months and still Sage Miller thinks of the man she walked away from, just hearing someone utter the same first name and the memories flood her thoughts. She was running from the horrors that destroyed her life when she met him, she had nothing to offer him for she needed to find herself again, to find some semblance of peace. Having relocated to North Carolina working a job she enjoys her peace is shattered by two things, the harassing phone calls she hopes are just pranks and coming face to face with the man she ran from. Fate brings people together who need to be.
Accepting a partnership in his brother’s construction company, former Navy SEAL Trent Takoda arrives in North Carolina to find the woman he’s been searching for working for his brother. They had spent a wonderful week together before she vanished from his life. He thought they had something special and he sure wants answers. The chemistry between them is evident from the moment their eyes reconnect, as potent as it was when they first knew each other. This time he’s not letting her go without a fight but to keep her he’ll first have to break down her emotional barriers and then keep her alive.
This longer length novella had a great suspense storyline that builds as information of Sage’s past is disseminated and the unknown man who’s watching shares his thoughts. The main protagonists were likable compelling characters with deep emotions. Trent is a dominant caring protective alpha, Sage is a woman with much internal strength, a survivor. We are given multiple points of view including that of the psychotic villain whose been waiting a long time to capture his prey. The amusing epilogue wrapped things up nicely leaving you pondering the workings of fate.
There was some anal play that this reader did not enjoy coming across, the activity detracted from the sexiness of the scenes.

Thoughts: So Dangerous Deception is a previously released book that has been ‘revised, edited, and slightly expanded’. While it is a good book, to me it didn’t quite have the same feel as some of Savannah Stuart’s other works. I liked the characters and I liked the story, but even the ‘slightly expanded’ version is short. It was a quick read for me, and I felt like I just really wanted to get to know these characters more. I wanted to feel more emotions from our characters – which the emotions were there, it just felt like we were only scratching the surface of what was really there.
Savannah Stuart writes a steamy novel about finding love and refusing to let go.
Sage Miller lost everything when her sister was murdered. After making sure the man responsible was behind bars, she decided to totally disappear. To change who and what she was, only a chance meeting at a B&B brought her the man of her dreams. But dreams change and no matter how wonderful it was it was time for Sage to start over. Leaving behind a huge "what if" Sage decided that it wasn't worth the risk.
Former Navy SEAL Trent Takoda spent one week with Sage and never forgot her. He searched for her but she was a woman gone missing. Two years have passed and Trent has decided to join in the family business with his brother. Only to discover that Sage, his Sage, was right there all along. She remains more than the woman that got away, she's exactly what he has dreamed of. Now he needs to let her know and convince her to give him a chance. If only something from her past wasn't threatening to destroy them all over again.
Dangerous Deception was actually released previously and is a re print but that's ok, for those of you who haven't read it, it's wonderful. Intense, smoldering romance with an edge.. Just what Ms. Stuart/Reus excels in.

Sage Miller has spent the last eighteen months trying to bury memories of the man she shared one of the steamiest weeks of her life with, but no matter how hard she tries the memories refuse to let go. It was hard for her to walk away from him, but she knew it was for the best, her life was in danger, and her only option was to run.
For the last eighteen months Trent Takoda has been searching for the woman who gave him the best week of his life, and then disappeared in the middle of the night. He'd give everything to see her again, and have the opportunity to prove to her that they have something real, something that could stand the test of time. Only problem is he has no idea where she is... but fate is about to step in and change that!
This story captured my attention right from the start and held on tight until the very end. It was packed with edge or your seat intensity, passion, steamy romance, thrilling mystery, and took me on one spectacular literary ride!! Definitely one of the best NetGalley finds that I have stumbled onto in quite a while, and also the introduction to a truly gifted storyteller!
Highly recommend you one click this one, it's sure to satisfy all your reading needs and then some!!

Katie Reus writing as Savannah Stuart definitely has a much sexier more erotic edge. I really enjoy her Red Stone Security series, but this was my first time reading under this pseudonym. I liked the characters and enjoyed the story. Sage and Trent hooked up as basically strangers staying in the same bed and breakfast. Their lust burned bright and hot until Sage snuck out and disappeared.
Over a year later, the two of them are unexpectedly reunited. Trent can't believe he has finally found her. Sage is more worried than excited. Her life was dangerous when she met him, but recently, the threats have picked up. Sage would do anything to make sure Trent isn't involved and is protected. Trent, however, is not giving up Sage for any reason. He is also not above seducing her to get his way. Their connection picks up right where it left off, and they are hot and heavy pretty quick. Unfortunately, Sage's stalker only picks up the harassment once their relationship becomes known. Both Sage and Trent are determined to protect the other, and neither of them are backing down until it's all over.
I enjoyed the characters and the suspense. It was a great little afternoon escape. I received an ARC from Net Galley for review.
WARNING: This book contains highly erotic sexual situations that will have you blushing and using any inanimate object to fan yourself with! Reader discretion is strongly advised :)
Holy Hotness! DANGEROUS DECEPTION is an incredibly sexy, yet incredibly short read. The heat level is scorching! I also enjoyed the suspense hook to the story but it ended way too soon for me.
What I love/hate about these short stories is that they are great if you’re in a time crunch but it is disappointing because the story is SO good, you desperately want more of it!
I would have loved to have watched Sage and Trent’s relationship develop more and find out where they ended up as well as more detail on Trent’s Native American heritage.
I also wanted to know more about Trent’s brothers and would love for them to have stories too! Ugh, it’s a sweet, sweet torture! One that is worth the read!
If you need a hot and sexy short story, DANGEROUS DECEPTION is the book for you!
***I was gifted an eBook copy from the publisher via Net Galley in exchange for an honest review. All conclusions reached are my own***
Savannah Stuart is one of the best writers of short novellas. She keeps the screenplay tight, the suspense close, danger on the edge and passion scorching as the fire. No matter how short her stories are she leaves not much room for missing key elements.
Dangerous Deception is just that. - a short story of evil and betrayal, passion and love. A fight to save herself from death and a mad killer, Sage Miller leaves a traumatic past and a one night of pure love and passion to make a new beginning. But then the past rears its ugly head along with her one nightstand, Trent Takoda.
Trent had been searching for Sage since the night they heated the sheets and the flames refuse to be doused even a bit. Finding Sage so close to home only increase his love for her and this ex-Navy SEAL is not letting a mad stalker take her away.
And as always her characters make an impact with their courage, integrity and chemistry that just makes us want more of them.
Another scorching, adrenaline pumping narration from Savannah Stuart, that is worth every penny!

DANGEROUS DECEPTION is a re-release contemporary, adult, romantic suspense novella by Katie Reus written as Savannah Stuart. This is former Navy SEAL Trent Takoda, and Sage Miller’s storyline. Even though this was a re-release it was new to me. This book was super flammable. The story line between Trent and Sage was very compelling.
Two years ago Sage world was turned upside down by tragedy. Several years later when she thought she finally got her life back on track. Ominous things started to occur, who can Sage trust when all the people she knew were dead. Then one day when she needed help the most Trent reappeared. With the help of a former Navy Seal can they track down the vicious stalker or will the stalker claim Sage as his price?
What I really enjoyed about Dangerous Deception was how easily the story flowed. I am not a big mystery book reader. However, with Dangerous Deception I got into the romance and mystery of the story. The only downside to this book was that it was to short which could have been longer. But other than that Dangerous Deception was a pretty good read.
Sage worked for Jason Bechman for the last six months at Beckman Construction Co.. Eighteen months before Sage had spent a passionate week with Trent and then sneaked out in the middle of the night and left. Sage wanted to start a new life since her sister’s Marie’s death. Then she found out Trent is her boss’s brother and she was to work with him on a job site. Trent was a former navy seal and had just became a partner with his brother Jason. But also Sage has an anonymous stalker who keeps calling her and threatening her. When Trent learns about Sage’s trouble he is determined to protect her. Trent is also determined to have Sage back in his life and bed and this time not leave. I enjoyed this story although it was a pretty fast read but I don’t believe that it lacked anything. I loved how Trent is instantly gonna protect Sage no matter what. I loved the characters also especially of course Trent and Sage and all the ins and outs they went through. I recommend. I received an ARC of this story for an honest review.
Dangerous Deception by Katie Reus was a fast and fairly good read. Sage & Trent had a hot, yet brief affair before Sage ran away & left Trent in alone in the middle of the night. Fast forward two years later and Sage & Trent meet once again as Sage is working for Trent's brother.
Now that Trent has finally found Sage again, he is not letting her go & is determined to to let her know that. However, complications arise when a stalker from Sage's past tracks her down and Trent is not just standing around doing nothing. He is intent on protecting her & once this is over, he is determined to keep the woman he lost once.
Overall, Dangerous Deception was a fast, sexy, and light read. The pace was fast and the characters were fairly well-developed as well as the plot & storyline. Although this storyline is cliche, I still recommend it for those looking for a light & sexy read that is not too heavy.
Sage Miller went through a traumatic event, her sister was murdered, she set out to do everything they'd planned to do and getting involved with the sexiest man she had ever met wasn't part of her plans....Still she had the best week of earth shattering sex with that say man named Trent Takoda and despite how great things were or how heart-wrenching it was to do, Sage left Trent without a word until fate through back into each other's orbits again.
Sage found herself working for Trent's brother, a few months later so did Trent, now that the latter found the woman who stole his heart, he wasn't about to let her go again. But Trent had to do everything in his power to protect her from a stalker.
Sage was afraid to let Trent all the way into her heart and without warning it happened, Trent fought for their love. Eventually Sage let her walls down much to Trent's delight. They took the second change that destiny handed them. Fab job by Katie Reus!

Once again Savannah Stuart has blown my mind with her ability to write heartwarming characters with the perfect amount of Alpha thrown in to make me pant.
Trent was mouthwatering delicious. He knows what he wants and what he wants is Sage. When he goes to work for his brother he finds out that the woman who walked out on him 18 months ago is working for his brother. Now he just has to find a way to make her safe in order to keep her forever.
Savannah truly has been a talent for writing riveting characters with each story line more interesting and different. Her stories always leave me on the edge of my seat with both mystery and sexy as hell scenes. I can't wait for her next book to come out.
Loved it. Suspense. Sex. And a stalker. Sage met Trent a year and a half ago at a little bed and breakfast. Her sister had been murdered and the trial was over. She was starting over and spent a week with Trent. She left in the middle of the night and went to start over. Now she works for a construction company and when her boss's brother shows up its Trent. Trent looked everywhere for Sage and now that he's found her he's not letting her getaway again. Someone is calling Sage and they broke into her townhouse and destroyed it. So until they figure out who is stalking her, she is staying with Trent. The stalker tells her he will kill Trent , so she tries to push him away but Trent will let nothing keep him from her. *RECEIVED A COPY FROM NETGALLEY*
Trent is a guy who fell hard for Sage before she left him in the middle of the night. Is not that she wanted to leave him, she had to. And two years later they meet again and this time he won't let her go.
The story went very easy to read and light. It's good one. I love it! Too bad the story's so short. Definitely need more angst, and the way Trent handle the stalker is totally turn off. Need more action and how I wish, at least Sage get hurt just a little bit. Hahaha.
Sage and Trent once spent a steamy week together. Now Sage is trying to bury those memories and on the other hand Trent is looking for her. After several years they run into each other again and this time Trent has no intentions of letting her go.
Now Sage is staying with Trent sine somebody broke into her townhouse and destroyed it. They need to find out who the stalker is, but when the stalker starts threating her with Trent's life, she try's to push him away to protect him.
This book was fast paced, with lots of suspense and steam.
My big problem with this story is that it is too short! I wanted more of Sage and Trent; the story line was intense - bad guy after girl who tries to protect good guy from becoming collateral damage. Their love story is wonderful too (so as not to give away too much, lets just say...) Two souls fated to be together. I highly recommend this book.
I won a copy of this book, although it had been on my "to buy" list.

This is the first book I read by Kate Reus. I finished reading the book in a few hours. It had good storyline & I loved the hot & steamy scenes. I loved how Trent protected Sage even though she tried to push him away. I felt really bad for Sage for the trauma she was going through. I also felt Sage was being to stubborn to Trent when he was helping her. I would definitely read more books by this author.
Cute, quick read with some suspense and lots of steamy sex. The book was short; I think I finished it in less than 3 hours but it was a good read overall.
The story brings back to lovers who spent a passionate week together two years ago and never spoke again. Time passes but neither forgets the other; fate finally brings them back together at a time when she needs a strong, confident man in her life the most.
