This book seems strong on content though more than 30 years later I am sure it is out of date in some specifics. I accept that. What is harder to accept are a couple of seeming contradictions. I'll mention one. We are told early in the book that glyphs are read down, top to bottom. Much later there is a diagram showing how the glyphs there discussed should be read, which begins left of center, then down, then to the right. Perhaps this is not a contradiction, but I did not find the language that explains that both are true under different circumstances. Add to this a very dry style that set me reading too many paragraphs twice and this is a book that I found useful but not entirely satisfying.
