Architect Alan Berman helps his clients meld style with sustainability. Here, he offers all the information readers need to make environmentally responsible decisions for their homes. Fully illustrated with photographs, diagrams, and easy-to-follow charts, the book covers all the key topics, including floors, furniture, fabrics, and finishes, working with recycled materials, household appliances, home energy systems, and a reassessment of traditional design. An expanded and updated directory helps readers locate environmentally friendly materials and organizations.
Some helpful info, a good primer on various "alternative" building practices. Definitely a lot of bunk as well, though. A lot of info oriented for the UK but the cimates are similar enough to still be relevant in New England. As always, really just no discussion of the costs of options listed or how to defray them. I talk to Vic so often about how the work and materials needed for house/vehicle personal and environmental safety are so unaffordable. I know there are tons of class-warfare reasons for how alienated architects are from regular people's lives but it still gets me every time.
