True love and friendship has no boundaries... even across time. Christopher and Susan are two teens who are best friends – one a talented guitarist with dreams of attending Julliard and the other a talented young writer who accidentally travel to 1963. There they fall deeply in love. Do they stay with those they love or return home while they still have a chance?
This could be been so much better had it been edited! There were many errors throughout. At one point, Christopher is referred to as Steven. They go back to May 1963 and when they asked someone who the president is, the person says Lyndon Johnson. In May 1963, Kennedy was still president, as he was killed in November. There were grammatical errors as well. The word your was written as you’re; smile was written as simile to name a few. When they are at the dance, it’s written as Jennifer and Ronald dancing together rather than Susan and Ronald.
Aside from the mistakes, I enjoyed the plot. You have to make some suspension of disbelief. Kids don’t need birth certificates to register for school? A kid who is very into music has no idea who many famous 1960s artists are and can’t even name one Beach Boys song? There is no mention of the Beatles at all?!? They had money, but it was all money from 2008, which would both look different and have future dates on it.
Ok, aside from all that, I did enjoy the basic plot and read it in a day. I’m a sucker for time travel books. I liked Susan and Christopher’s friendship. Good book over all, but please next time, I hope the author has a good editor. Also, the long sections on the plots of comic books and Lord of the Rings were unnecessary, as was the long section of Ronald giving a report on Greek mythology.
I really enjoyed reading "Across Time" by Jeff Fuell. The story is about Susan and Christopher who are best friends living in 2008. After Christopher has a bad day at school and goes to the mall with Susan. Christopher goes with Susan to a local bookstore to meet Ronald Lexington, who is Susan's favorite author. When Christopher and Susan go back to Christopher's house it is pouring down rain. Christopher notices a circle that has a scent of incense catches his attention. When he gets close to it, his world goes dark along with Susan's. They go back in time to the year of 1963 where everything has changed from buildings, fashion, prices of food and gas. Christopher and Susan (as brother and sister) decide to attend school where they meet Ronald Lexington before he was famous and Jennifer a tall, thin, beautiful girl. Susan starts to develop strong feelings for Ronald and Christopher begins to feel an attraction towards Jennifer. Christopher attends the school dance with Jennifer and Susan goes with Ronald. When it comes time to return to the future will Christopher and Susan return? Will Susan's life change to make her stay in the year 1963? Will Christopher ever win a scholarship to Julliard? Will he ever meet his idol Marie Osmond?
The story reminds me of "The Time Traveler's Wife" by Audrey Niffenegger. Another time travel books that I read and enjoyed. I look forward to reading more books written by Jeff Fuell.
