In politics, Bill’s Congressional campaigns in 2000 and 2004 were notable. Running against Minority Leader Dick Gephardt, Bill mounted one of the most expensive and closely watched races in the nation, setting voting records for a Republican in Missouri’s 3rd District.

It's refreshing to read a book about a prolific historical figure whom I only knew for one solitary fact—his association with peanuts. This book clarified just how influential George Washington Carver was and how he consistently attributed all his accomplishments to God. Based on what I remember from my history books, we often lack access to personal letters or the thoughts of historical figures. This absence can lead us to miss a perspective on history that highlights instances of progress, revealing that this period wasn't entirely bleak.

I had no idea that Carver developed a peanut oil that was beneficial for massaging individuals with polio. While he was recognized for the massage technique, the oil's contribution often goes unnoticed. He dedicated himself to the work he felt inspired to accomplish, and his influence was acknowledged worldwide. In fact, January 5th is even celebrated in his honor. Carver's impact extended far beyond peanuts; he transformed how Southerners approached agriculture.

What an amazing human. I hope to read more about him in the future.

Short but interesting. To often George Washington Craved is shown as a one
dimensional person he was highly educated, people like Thomas Edison and Henry Ford were offering him hundreds of thousands of dollars in 1930 to come work for them and had thousands of pattern. Plus a highly spiritual person.
You wonder with all he indured why he was not bitter.

I did not realize George Washington Carver discovered a use for peanut oil that was used to massage polio patients and heal them fully so they could walk again.

I am deeply grateful to the author for this! It was a wonderful experience getting to know George Washington Carver through his own words. He spoke positively about everyone, he had a grateful heart, & his faith was incredible. He knew that science was simply discovering & learning God's truth. His example is one for us all to follow.

I will read another bio on him. I chose this one because it specifically talked about his faith, but it seems to have been put together by someone who is not a writer and who had no editor. It was still interesting, but I will look for another bio on Carver.
