When Tiffany Gallagher flies to London from L.A. to spend the holidays with her family, volunteering at a homeless shelter on Christmas Day and getting nowhere with her job search aren't part of her plan. There were a lot of things wrong with this. A homeless shelter in London on a cobbled street with a ‘lovely old house across the lane.’ REALLY??
And a photographer taking photos of the homeless people as they eat their dinner? Would YOU like someone to come and photograph you while you ate a donated meal like that? Its intrusive, rude and self-gratifying. Like watching animals at the zoo. The shelters I know wouldn't allow people to be used like that.

This is a nice Christian romance without mystery or crime of any sort, just relationship conflicts, along with the two main characters growing and changing into better versions of themselves as the story progresses. Tiffany is a lovely young American woman and Mac is a handsome, but troubled Scottish man. They meet at a homeless shelter in London, where they are both volunteering to help out. It's a good story with likable characters - especially since I imagined Mac looking like a younger Chris Hemsworth, who is my go-to hero in many books I read.

I was so blessed to receive a copy of A Model Bride by Autumn Macarthur, book number three of the Love In Store series. Once again Autumn Macarthur has presented a totally charming contemporary Christian romance set in both London and Scotland. But her books are so much more - always containing a deep message that will have the reader questioning the depth of their own walk with God.
Tiffany is an American pastor's daughter who finds herself as a volunteer, along with the rest of her family, at a London shelter for the homeless on Christmas Day. Tiffany is disappointed, her only Christmas in London was not meant to be like that. She reluctantly goes to the shelter, and meets photographer Mac, a friend of her brother Nick, and also the son of a Scottish pastor.
Both Tiffany and Mac are both struggling in life to prove something to themselves. Tiffany is seen as the little sister who is a bit of an airhead - into fashion and shopping. Whereas her twin Zoe is academically gifted and serious, and Nick is a famous actor (his story is told in book two Believe In Me). Tiffany wants to be taken seriously and to be independent from her family and their teasing.
Mac on the other hand, is a photographer recently returned from a war zone. He is consumed by guilt for the lives that he couldn't help to save, and his mission is to get fit and get back to show the human face of conflict. In the meantime he wants to show that homeless people have a face too.
Tiffany and Mac are drawn to each other, but Mac resists love, as to love means to open oneself up to the potential to be hurt. However as both he and Tiffany enjoy volunteering at the homeless shelter, their lives will overlap, but what will happen? Tiffany wants to make a difference to the lives of the homeless, but what can she do? Will she succeed in this hope?
As offspring of pastors, Tiffany and Mac could not be more different. Tiffany is small and sweet, with a huge faith that both trusts God and reaches out to others. Whereas Mac lost what faith he had, due to life experiences. He has never surrendered to God, preferring to live life as the strong guy doing the rescuing of the weak. And beating himself up, if he fails. He never admits that he needs God.
A Model Bride, whilst being a delightful story, will also touch the reader's heart - prompting an examination of one's personal faith. As the Father's heart is revealed within the novel, the reader is journeying too - hopefully towards a deeper faith and trust in God.
The Love In Store series can be read just for surface value, as the delightful stories will leave the reader with a smile on their face and a warm fuzzy feeling in their heart. Or delve deeper, and strengthen your own personal faith in God.
I am very much looking forward to book number four, Forget Paris (a Valentine's Day Story) to be released on 31st January 2015 - it's already on my wish list!

Contemporary Christian Romance
Tiffany Gallagher felt lost. Her designs didn’t win her the fashion internship in Paris she was expecting. Now it’s Christmas and she’s spending time volunteering at a homeless shelter with her family in London.
Mac is getting over a bomb blast injury and heartbreak of not being on time to save a child on his last photojournalist tour in the Middle East. Stuck in London he decided to help at the homeless shelter with his good friend Nick, Tiffany's brother.
Well, the sparks didn’t fly immediately, but before the end of the day there were tingles and significant notice of the other's physical and personality strengths, and the all important, "I’ve never known anyone like her/him". If this all happens within two days I call it insta-love. But this is a novella so there was a crunch to advance time.
After it was established that they cared for each other, more than either of them wanted to, the story was pretty good. It just couldn’t work out since he’d be returning to the Middle East and she'd be returning to LA.
One issue I had was Tiffany's desire to be physical with Mac when she knew his relationship with the Lord was on shaky ground. She was a woman of faith, always praying and learning to trust God, but ignoring the unequally yoked case in the Bible disappointed me.
However, many feelings and goals changed in the end, so it worked out.
Good story (except for that one unbiblical disappointment).

Autumn McArthur’s A Model Bride is a Christmas romance with believable characters, evocative scenery, and an honest willingness to tackle life’s big questions. No fluffy Christmas story here—there are people whose Christmasses don’t involve big dinners or even homes; and there are people who bond over caring.
The wounded photographer almost looks homeless, but he’s skilled at seeing “a pattern of light and dark on a page,” or even of color. Seeing the “colors of human nature” might be harder though. Then there’s the fluffy airhead American, but she’s also hiding a deeper self, colored with the need to succeed and the need to be truly seen.
Author Autumn McArthur adds a very convincing level of faith to her characters and relationships, making this a delightful romantic tale, and a heartfelt image of God’s loving purpose. A thoroughly enjoyable read, even when it’s not Christmas anymore!
Disclosure: I got it on a deal and I really enjoyed it.

I am normally one that can push through a book, especially if I believe it to be a good one. However, "A Model Bride" started out very well but then sort of drizzled out around the middle, and then towards the end I kind of lost interest in this book all together. The overall concept for this story has been wonderful, with a compelling story-line, there was just something missing from everything.

Definitely Sweet and Clean! I enjoyed this delightful love story written with 'a touch of England and a lot of Scotland'. Tiffany is a lovely character and well-developed. Colin or Mac as he is commonly known is a rogue or thinks he is, but not really, he just needed to turn his life over to God and follow God's leading. I loved the shelter or 'soup kitchen' details and how each of the characters from the shelter were described and knitted within the story so that they became part of Tiffany's life. I also loved how the author introduced us to Tiffany's family and Mac's family so that we could see the whole picture. I did find that Tiffany's feelings and Mac's feelings about each became rather repetitious especially as I got further into the story, and I would have liked a little less of their 'self-talk'. Because of the British and Scottish in my family down-line, I really enjoyed all the Scottish customs and words and the geographical descriptions of places in these countries.
I would recommend this story to anyone who loves to read sweet, clean romances. It leaves a happy feeling.

Love in Store series by Autumn Macarthur is a charming series set around a long-standing department store and its staff and their family members. I thought book 2 was my favorite, but now I'm thinking that book 3, A Model Bride, may be my favorite. Tiffany and Colin both have negative perceptions about themselves, basing their value on how they think others see them. When they work at a homeless shelter over the Christmas and New Year's holidays, God gives them a chance at a new perspective, and opens a door to love that can save them both if they will only turn the eyes of their hearts to Him. Macarthur gently touches on the difficult subjects of drug abuse, cutting, and homelessness bringing a fresh perspective and human factor to topics that are so generalized in today's society and media. I would love to celebrate Hogmanay and tour Scotland and London with Tiffany the way Macarthur describes it in this story.

Mac is a war photographer who was severely wounded when a rocket exploded. He tried to rescue a child and feels guilty that this boy did not live. Mac also had a girlfriend that died in a car accident. These two events really poured on the guilt.
Mac and Tiffany fight the attraction they have for each other. I was rooting for them to get together. You could see that they were very suited for love.
I love that these characters turned their lives to the Lord Jesus Christ.

Loved Mac and Tiffany's story! Mac is a friend of Tiff's brother, Nick. They meet when Tiff's family joins Nick in England to meet his fiancee, Cara. Tiff and Mac volunteer with Tiff's family at a homeless shelter on Christmas Day. Mac is sure that Tiffany is only interested in superficial things, and he wants to go back to his photojournalism in a war zone. Tiffany is trying to get her family to see that she's not just an empty-headed girl, but a young woman who knows what she wants and can do a good job. Tiffany grows into her own when she helps the homeless at the shelter, and realizes that God's plan for her may be totally different than what she planned, but she's secure in His care. Mac comes to realize that he needs to put his trust in God, and let God show him his purpose, as Mac hasn't really done that great of a job for himself.

She has a wonderful way of bringing her characters to life in such a way that they seem real!
Her stories are also full of rich adventures in places I've dreamt of going to.
In this story, we're intruded to Tiffany, the youngest of the Gallagher family. She's always felt everyone thinks she's full of fluff and not really grown up, and she wants to prove them wrong.
We also met Mac, who is struggling with physical and mental pain from coming home wounded from war-life. He just wants to heal so he can go back and fix the wrongs he's seen.
These two are like magnets, but they don't want to be.
Can they really prove to others who they really are, or do they only need to just trust God and be who He's made them be?

A sweet inspirational read which touched my heart. This clean read introduces us to a woman who has plans for her life but is struggling with them lining up with the will of God or the plans of her family. But you know the old saying make plans and God laughs. Well nothing goes according to her plan but when the praises go up the blessings reign down.
A beautifully written story about life, obedience, letting go and seeking, all things we must do in order to hear and follow. Well written without being preachy.

The traditional advice saying, 'Let go and let God' is the theme of this new book in the Love In Store series. It's a winner, with all the elements of a classic love story, and squeaky clean to boot. I'd almost totally given up reading romances, because of the modern insistence on making them violently pornographic, but Macarthur allows me to get a fix of romance without ever seeing anything offensive. Theologically sound, emotionally moving, well written, these books couldn't be better without a dog.

A model bride is a heartwarming clean christian novel that captivates you from start to finish.The characters are amazing and you are going to really appreciate their personality. Melanie is eager to start her career as a fashion designer when she meets the wounded war photo journalist Mac in a homeles shelter where she is a volunteer on Christmas night with her family.They are very attracted to each other but do not want to start a relationship because they want to continue their career. However, God has other plans for these two.

I enjoyed learning more about Scotland and England--I'm going to be visiting in a few weeks! I'm not even sure how I acquired this book, but there were travel hints for the very two cities I'll be touring--wonderful.
The romance had its bright spots, but I will admit I got frustrated with the idea that a beautiful woman could have so little self-confidence and the hero just didn't seem to learn--until the last minute, as to be expected per the plot points.
I do find myself wanting to learn more about the other characters' stories, so I must have been hooked. An enjoyable read.

God has a plan for us all. In our hearts we plan our ways but God directs our footsteps. This story brings supportive meaning to Proverbs 16:9. As you read this story you will be reminded of many other Bible verses.
Mac may keep you frustrated throughout most of the story but his focus is corrected. Autumn MacArthur fulfills her commitment for a Faith-filled sweet and clean romance. Thank you Autumn.

I really liked this fourth addition in the Love in Store series, and I can’t wait to read about the other Maclean siblings. Tiffany and Mac both struggle with where God wants them to be. Both struggle with wanting their own plans to work out. Mac has blamed God for so long he can’t see how He has been working in his life all along. The use of scripture throughout this book was so exciting to see. I love when authors use scripture for real life application. Thank you Ms. MacArthur. Can’t wait to read more of your work.

Loved reading this story of love and loss. The story of one love and the man she thought she couldn't have because he thought he wasn't good enough for her.Her new job and gift of putting people where they belong and then the love of her life comes back when he realizes that he loves her and not the Far East where he could only find loss and betrayal. Where Our Strength Comes From
This was a beautiful story of a young woman becoming the woman God wants her to be and a man wounded inside and out. Autumn brings God’s truth to us of where our strength comes from in this story. We also gain some insights into what it can be like to experience homelessness as the characters volunteer at a shelter. I definitely recommend this book and look forward to reading the rest in the series.

I enjoyed watching the two main characters evolve throughout the book, ending with each of them truly embracing their faith.....and each other. LOL
This was the first book I read from this author and when I was done with it, I couldn't wait to read more! I like how characters from one book find themselves in another one. Seeing a familiar face again allows the reader to feel like they are really getting to know each of them personally. All five stars were well deserved.

Lean On Me
So many things happening in this story. We have Tiffany growing from being the youngest child with no ambition into a public servant for the homeless.
Then there is Mac, a photo journalist suffering from PTSD, survivors guilt and determined to return to the war no matter the cost to his family.
As they work together to help the residents of the homeless shelter, they discover how much they need each other~

Great Book
Wonderful story of lost faith and finding that faith and love of God again. Great story of finding out who you are and who you want to be and finding that person. I loved how both Mac and Tiffany wanted to help make change in the world and by finding themselves they also found by using their talents they could help others in need.
This was a great story and I loved the ending.

A must read!
This story really pulled at my heart! It was lovely to see how the main characters changed through opening to God and his leading. Finally listening and being honest before God brought this story to a wonderful conclusion. And letting us see into the world of homeless people and their difficulties - well written with understanding and empathy. Go read Mac and Tiffany's wonderful journey of discovery!

I thoroughly enjoyed reading A Model Bride, so much so that it's one of the few books that I've read more than once. The main characters, Tiffany Gallagher and Mac, are well-developed and easy to relate to. They're not perfect, but work on their issues during the story. They do get their HEA. I love the way that the author, Autumn Macarthur, weaves their faith, struggling that it may be, into the story. I would recommend this book to family and friends and definitely plan to read more from this author myself. Treat yourself to this well-written clean romance.

My first read by this author. Nice story. I loved the Scottish influence.. loved the Macleans and their interaction. No doubt I will enjoy interacting with them as I continue to read through this series.
Overall this story was nice.. definitely a different scenario than I have read before..I think it could have used a bit more development and the ending felt rushed. But overall I enjoyed it and am looking forward to the rest of this series.

I could not put this book down. We serve an amazing God who loves us unconditionally - homeless, unemployed, those living in shelters and also affluent people. We need to be a shining light to all we come in contact with, not only those we choose to. A book filled with heartache, embarrassment, feeling unloved but also happiness, joy, love, success and most important of all, being obedient to God's calling.

I enjoyed this story of two people trying to change their circumstances. I loved that Mac invited Tiffany to his home to experience a Scottish New Year after she found out she had been scammed. I loved the work that they did with the homeless and getting them to work for a better place in life but offering them the opportunity to really get started. Lots of fun and yet a sense that they weren't really following God but their way through much of the book.
