Cheyenne had a horrible past. She thought time would heal her pain. It didn't. She thought distance would change her life. It didn't. Now, she has to go home and face her past to have hope for a successful future. Secrets abound in this fast-paced Christian thriller full of plot twists and turns.
Lacresha has penned more than 20 titles, both fiction and nonfiction. She is the owner of Lanico Enterprise and founder of Your Healing Partner. She works tirelessly in community and economic development, and with victims of sexual and physical abuse. She is the host of THE AWAKENING, a BTR show fostering healing for women.
This is my first published work of Christian fiction. It is a wonderful story of hope and healing. Cheyenne's past is about to become a part of her future in a way she never imagined and the people she thought were her enemies are about to become friends. This book is full of plot twists and turns. Cheyenne will make you fall in love with her as she struggles to take control of her life again.
Cheyenne's character was so believable as she dealt with the pain of her past, first by trying to run away and avoid confrontation, secondly by filling herself with hatred and bitterness, and then eventually by opening her heart once more.
There were several ongoing themes in this book, namely family tragedy, fear of commitment and relationships, coping processes, and hope. There were also many loveable characters other than the main character. We have James, a strong successful man who knows what he wants, and who has the love and integrity to win Cheyenne over.
Lacresha had much backstory in this book which leads me to believe the Johansson family is still got plenty of story to tell. In fact, I believe she would do her readers a service by continuing with what warped Cheyenne's uncle, Marvin Johansson, since she went through a lot of trouble to make sure the book didn't end with us hating him. This was great writing and even better storytelling.
I like what my mom did with this book. She actually got input from all of us and studied the writing of other Christian fic authors. She did a lot of research and the outcome was a spectacular book. This is the first book she wrote that I read the entire thing. The story was tense the whole way through.
I was extremely impressed with the well-rounded view of Cheyenne and her family. I also loved the romantic aspects. I found myself wanting to know more about Marvin Johanssen and his background with what was given in the book. Great writing and many open doors for future projects.
OMG! This story was so touching and filled with hope. The main character, Cheyenne, was a victim of abuse as a child. After growing up, she tried to escape the reality of her uncle. She meets a great guy and almost loses him, finds out about a brother she never knew about, inherits her rightful possessions after her uncle's death, and eventually finds healing. Loved it!
