Children's author and illustrator Mary Murphy enchants even the youngest of readers with her bold style, combining eye-catching graphics and a bouncy text that seemingly jump off the pages.

Mary Murphy has an advanced diploma in Visual Communications and has written and illustrated a number of children's books, including her lift-the-flap, pull-the-tab book about friendship, ROXIE AND BO TOGETHER. In addition to creating children's books, she teaches illustration. The author-illustrator lives in Galway, Ireland.

Some Things Change is a simple book, written for small children about the idea of change. This book introduces things in life as changing in a neutral tone. There is not really a story line, but rather a penguin stating facts about little things that can change. Something such as ice changing to water, or cloudy days changing to sunny days. At the end of the book, the penguin explains that some things don't change like the love from family.

The main theme of the book is that change is something to be embraced, not feared. Sometimes things can change for the better or for growth, and it's good to have consistent things in life that don't change--like a mother's love.

While I was reading Some Things Change, it made me feel refreshed and simplistic. It made me feel more accepting of change that is even happening in my life. It was sweet to read about a mother's love not changing in the midst of many other things in life that can change.

I think this is an incredible book to read to kids of younger ages. Some Things Never change presents change in an understandable and non-fearful way. It can help kids accept change for themselves and later on in life. This book can teach kids to be thankful about the happy, and possibly fleeting, situation that they find themselves in.

Simple enough for toddlers to enjoy, this book introduces the concept of things changing as a neutral one - not good or bad, change just is. There's not really a story line, but the pictures are fun and the message of a mother's love never changing will resonate with children.

Great book for Tales for Twos about change as a natural part of life. Reassurance that parental love is here to stay ends a sweet sharable book about the inevitability of change.

Some Things Change is a picture book. It is targeted for children in low primary grades and even preschool level. The book goes through a bunch of ways people and things can change. It shows changes such as, "Cloudy days change to sunny." I rated the book a 4 because I really enjoyed it. I think that children will enjoy the story just as much as the pictures. Although the story is interesting, the pictures are full and colorful. The font is child friendly and large. I think this book would definitely be appealing to children. The cover is colorful so children will be instantly drawn to it. I could use this book in the classroom often when explaining how to deal with change. It makes change appear appropriate and even fun therefore I think it would be effective for early childhood students.

A bright and colorful picture book for preschool about "change" with examples like water becoming ice and a cloudy sky turning blue. Some are concrete while others like "mood" are more abstract, but the final picture with a parent penguin and child in a hug that states "Some things never change" makes this a comforting read aloud for young listeners.
