What did Johnny Depp do with his "Winona Forever" tattoo after she dumped him? What is the ritual surrounding the Dixie Chicks and the little birdies on their feet? How many times does Angelina Jolie have "Billy Bob" tattooed on her body and where? Celebrity Skin has the answers and much more in this ultimate photo collection of the tattoos and body art of celebrities—from Drew Barrymore, and Sean Connery to Dennis Rodman, the Backstreet Boys, and Eminem. With over 100 pages of full-color photographs, Celebrity Skin gets the inside story (and inside look) at the beauty marks of the beautiful people.
I hate to give bad reviews, but... The author seems to really dislike tattoos, and in many cases, the celebrities he writes about. So, I'm wondering why he chose to write a book about celebrity tattoos. Also, sometimes the text explaining what tats a certain person has conflicts with the accompanying picture...that's kinda weird.
If you're looking for pictures of famous people and their tattoos/body adornments, avoid this book! Why you may ask? Well here's my answer:
Although the book is well organized in sections of the famous (sometimes the author makes them sound more infamous) from musicians to models, several of the pictures and people mentioned don't even have pictures of their tattoos! Some are even described lousy - you can clearly see a specific tat on the picture, yet there is no mention in the description. This book also has more scoop and snarky comments about the goings on of said celebrity, rather than focusing on what this book is titled and supposed to be about. All in all this book has more celebrity poop and not much about celebrity body adornment and should be avoided if you're specifically looking for what the title is stating
Not as awesome as I had hoped. Granted, it's old (2001), so although it mentions that Johnny Depp's "Winona Forever" got changed to "Wino Forever", it is missing a good chunk of info on, say, Angelia Jolie, who graces the cover. Honestly, I don't really care about Angelina and her tattoos, but I have an interest in WHY people get tats... this book sort of gave me what I wanted, sort of didn't. My next item on the subject is "Chick Ink", about women's ink, so I'm hoping for better.
