Stringybark Summer

Rate this book
Sophie didn't want to spend the holidays miles away from home at Stringybark Mill. She wanted to stay at the farm and help her mother with the new baby when it came. But Sophie soon became absorbed in the busy daily life of the little township in the bush and grew to love Stringybark Mill. Through Grandpa, she learnt to love the horses, too - especially old Clinker...An evocative story set in turn-of-the-century Australia.

gives a good feel for life at that time and place. enjoyed the family stuff. I'd of liked a bit more about ecological vandalism, but then that's very in keeping with the period.
