150 spells that cover a variety of applications: love, career, family and home, health and beauty, good fortune, divination, protection and blessing, and banishing and binding. Each spell calls for only a few simple ingredients and tools, most of which are easily obtained (some are a bit more obscure or less practical to get). I like that the author includes the appropriate Moon phase and day of the week for each, and, even if I don't actually perform them, the spells offer lots of ideas for making charms, amulets, talismans and other magickal items. This book also includes an introductory section on the seasons and festivals, setting up altars and sacred spaces, and how to cast a circle. I knocked off one star because the tiny colour photographs are a bit dark and murky and sometimes don't quite match the "receipts" for the spells they're illustrating - a minor issue! Nevertheless, I'm grateful to my dear friend who gave me this book, and I read it from cover to cover with great interest.

My bullshit detector is going off like crazy. There is way too much in this book that panders to the civilized world: spells to gain more money, tools like paper, paint, and mirrors, and a whole section on how to be more successful at work. I'm not going to pretend to be any sort of expert in Wicca, but most of this book seems phony.
