Well. That was a book.
In all seriousness, though, while I do like a good deception romance (I've said it before and I'll say it again), I didn't really empathize with the heroine in this book. You're a PI, Dori...why would you not investigate your client before taking her on? And the whole "aloof and disdainful is sexy" thing doesn't work any better in a heroine than it does in a hero for me.

I did like the hero and his mother, but everyone else I didn't particularly like. Including the son we're supposed to be rooting for. He wasn't just a plot moppet, I'll give him that, but he was so convincing as an idiotic sixteen year old boy that every time we got his perspective I was unpleasantly reminded of being sixteen and dealing with sixteen year old boys.

In any case. Not the book for me.
