Sally McCluskey (aka Bethany Campbell) was born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska, as an only child. She attended college beginning as a chemistry major, after quickly switching her major to English. She obtainded a B.A. from Wayne State Teachers College, and an M.A. in English from the University of Arkansas. She met her husband, Dan Borengasser, while both were graduate students at Northern Illinois University, where she obtained a Ph.D. in English.
Sally taught and in her spare time wrote, but after marriage, the couple moved to an area where teaching jobs were scarce, and she turned to writing full time. She wrote poetry, articles, short stories, and contributed to textbooks, but finally decided to try a romance novel at the urging of her mom and aunt, both avid romance fans. To Sally’s amazement, Harlequin bought her story After the Stars Fall and published it in 1985 under the pseudonym Bethany Campbell. She has also written as Lisa Harris. She has won three Romance Writers of America (RWA) RITA Awards, three Romantic Times Reviewer Awards, a Maggie Award, and the Daphne du Maurier Award of Excellence.
She lived with her husband in northwest Arkansas. Her husband, who serves as Vice President of Ozark Film & Video Productions, also writes, and has had several short films and plays produced.
This book was plain annoying... It was boring because nothing really happened! I have started on my departune plane, tried to read it during the trip when I arrived but I just couldn't!
The guy, Mitch or something, was supposed to be that great intimidating guy, super hot and dangerous... But he was ridiculous! His signature move that people found intimidating was... yawning!! Yes, apparently when he yawned it was so scary and the other person was frozen.... Ridiculous I say!
And he kept poking fun at Dinah, he did that till the very end! He never showed her any real emotions, and at the end, after teasing her the whole, he came to see her and said he loved her since day 1!! Ridiculous!! And Dinah was quite something!! Such a boring heroine with no spirit at all... Scared of mice one second, and barking at people the next... And the way she fell of love with Mitch, out of nowhere, geez!
And absolutely no sex in that book, not even a sexy moment... This is Harlequin after all!! On my arrival flight, I simply left the book in the plane when I finished lool! Not recommended at all...
Dinah had to spent a year doing civil charitable work according to her great-grandfather's will. She did just that and was about to leave the school she spent a year in in Kakaxia, but because she had doubts about her marriage to Dennis - her childhood fiance - and she wanted to ensure that her favourite student has a fair bargain with a recording company in Nashville, she extends the year by accompanying her student to meet Mitchel Carey, the recording company's owner. She didn't bargain to fall in love with the arrogant man!
I loved the story even though it is a vintage. It was obvious both the main characters where bewitched by one another, but they were stubborn and too proud to show their vulnerabilities. A recommended past-time read.
