Kandy is a young, free spirit. Not afraid to live life, she pushes her body and soul to the limit, hitting all the loud metal concerts, knocking back drinks with the best of them, and coming home hung over to Ian Richards, the man who has taken her under his wing since she came to live with him after her parents died years ago.

Of course, Ian has a past too. He and his ex-wife parted on friendly enough terms, but he still feels guilty for their breakup. It seems to him that his sexy little roommate, who happens to be nine years younger than him, was a part of their problem. Only, his concern for her seemed fatherly until she comes home one night after a Slipknot concert and decides to seduce him. After all, she's old enough.

For someone her age, she's wise beyond her years, which even Ian can give her, but still. Can Kandy show Ian that in order to grow, he has to get his priorities straight? Can he get out of his head and let go of the past long enough to see just what he has under his nose? Or will he cling to memories of the past failures and remain stuck?

Sascha Illyvich writes dark paranormal romance and urban fantasy where morally gray characters navigate dangerous worlds—and even more dangerous attractions.

His books feature fated mates with complications, enemies-to-lovers tension, alpha heroes who aren't afraid to show their claws, and heroines who give as good as they get. Whether it's werewolf mafia enforcers, vampire outlaw MCs, or detectives hunting interdimensional predators, Sascha specializes in stories where the romance is intense, the stakes are high, and the darkness is part of the appeal.

When he's not writing about supernatural creatures falling dangerously in love, Sascha can be found smoking fine cigars, listening to progressive death metal, and contemplating which Burgundy pairs best with plotting a character's downfall.

Current series:

Wolves in the Fae Court (Fated mates dystopian paranormal romance)
Undead Souls MC (Vampire motorcycle club romance)
Shifter Spies (Fated Mates meets Spy Action)
Bound by Blood & Fang (Dark mafia paranormal romance) - Coming 2026
The Frequency of Shadows (Detective paranormal thriller) - Coming 2026

Great Take on Life’s Reality & Hot!

What an interesting take on relationships. Reality can be a bitch sometimes especially when something fantastic is within our own reach and we don’t even see it. However, as always there is always a great reward awaiting us once we grasp the unknowing opportunity of a life time especially when love is involved.

The characters were easy enough to identify with as Ian reluctantly pursues a relationship with Kandy because of the age difference and the fact that he took her in and practically raised her after her parents died.

For myself, however, as I am also in a relationship currently who is way older than me (11 years difference) so I can understand Ian’s reluctance in pursuing a relationship with someone younger especially when he practically raised her – one day you’re looking at them as a child and then next you have to look at them as adults.

But at the same time, regardless what anyone thinks, women are way more mature than men and that is why you see in our world today a great age difference between couples. Most women like their men older so they can have a mature conversation on their own level, hence the reason I married my own husband.

Kandy being free spirited was cute, however you could tell she still had a lot of growing up to do but mentally she was very mature for her age physically and sexually. I liked that she knew what she wanted and she wasn’t going to let anything stand in her way to get Ian. Kandy and Ian’s erotic scenes are extremely hot and steam up the pages throughout the book.

One other topic covered in this book was the fact that Ian had to get over his mistakes with his ex-wife, even though his ex-wife was still a friend, she had moved on and found out she was a lesbian and started another life as she moved on, but Ian hadn’t moved on to allow love to come back into his life.

Getting over the idea he wasn’t the one who helped his ex-wife grow was a huge bust in his ego, however once it dawned on him that she didn’t even know she had a different preference than men then he was ok with it and it was time he moved on too.

After one fight where Kandy gives up and walks out the door, Ian realizes he was about to lose the woman (Kandy) who was crazy about him and loved him the most forever if he didn’t give Kandy the commitment she desired is when he woke up and decided to take a chance on love again and grasp the future with Kandy regardless of the age difference.

Overall, this was an ok read for me, I think maybe I was looking for a more drastic dramatized event between Ian and Kandy like maybe a car accident where Kandy is close to death or maybe she went out with another man and he was mad with jealousy, etc…before Ian actually woke up and realized he wanted to be with Kandy forever.

I look forward to reading more of this authors work as his examples of real life scenarios of reality are clearly foretold.

Good Read!

Candace - Kandy, was taken in by Ian when she was just a girl. Having lost her parents in a car accident, she faced a life in the system. But, Ian couldn't allow it, and saved her. It cost him his marriage to Alice, the woman he thought he loved. Alice claimed he loved Kandy, that she was the one for him. But how could that be? She was almost 10 years younger than he, like a daughter to him.

Now, Kandy is an adult. A red-haired beauty, a success in her own right, and she wants Ian. On a mission, she sets out to get him. Can Kandy help Ian see that she is no longer a child? Will he be able to let his past go and find happiness in the here and now? Or will his past with Alice stop Ian from finding a future of love and forgiveness that he deserves?

A lovely contemporary romance full of steamy scenes and plenty of twists! The only thing I found lacking was in the early part of the book where Kandy was drunk and received a phone call about her latest real estate deal. There seemed to be a problem with it, but it was never finished. That piece seemed to be left hanging. Other than that...a great story! Loved it!

REVIEW: STUCK is a re-release of a novel written by author Sascha Illyvich. I do not remember how I got this copy, but it was sent to me via pdf.

The premise sounds interesting-a young woman who has fallen in love with an older man. Kandy knows she was partly responsible for Ian’s marriage failure as she pushed the boundaries of friendship hoping for more. Now that Ian is divorced and Kandy is a permanent roommate, Kandy continues her flirtatious ways by amping up the benefits of their co-habitation. Following a night of drinking and partying, Kandy seduces Ian and the guilt trip ensues when Ian cannot forgive himself for falling for a young woman he has known since she was a teen.

But, for all of the storyline premise, the two main characters have some major immaturity issues-Kandy has yet to grow up. Although she is in her early twenties, she continues her partying ways including drinking and driving-which I will address shortly. Ian is a man whose failed first marriage rides him hard-his friendship with Kandy and the fact that his ex plays for the other team continues to haunt his dreams as well controlling his feelings for his roommate and friend. And Ian’s ex Alice who wants to be the social conscience for the pair, but comes off as flaky and irresponsible as the other two. There is very little character development in the storyline, but then again, it is a short story where everything must happen within a few pages or the story doesn’t get told.

Now-there is a major drinking and driving problem in this particular storyline and one that is not addressed as a problem. Kandy likes to drink-a lot- and yet she is willing to risk her life as well as those of her friends-drinking and driving. At one point, it is a toss up in a bar whether Ian’s ex or Kandy should drive-the lesser of two drunks wins out. I understand this is a fictional storyline and the author is not an officer preaching the sins of drinking and driving-but-I did took issue with the amount of drunk driving and very little to no consequences involved.
