In a world where superheroes soar through the sky, homicide detectives Christian Walker and Deena Pilgrim do their grueling work on the dirty city streets below. Assigned to the "powers" special cases, they will face the worst their city has to offer.

When one of the key members of a popular supergroup is found violently murdered, the events that follow will reveal a conspiracy that will change everything. Walker and Pilgrim will be forced to make choices that will forever change their lives and careers, and how the world at large sees their heroes.

Powers Volume Two collects Powers #12–#24, Powers Annual #1, a treasure trove of behind-the-scenes material from the making of this superhero noir classic and a short story from True Crime Confessions —the first-ever collaboration between Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming along with a brand-new cover by Michael Avon Oeming!

A comic book writer and erstwhile artist. He has won critical acclaim (including five Eisner Awards) and is one of the most successful writers working in mainstream comics. For over eight years Bendis’s books have consistently sat in the top five best sellers on the nationwide comic and graphic novel sales charts.

Though he started as a writer and artist of independent noir fiction series, he shot to stardom as a writer of Marvel Comics' superhero books, particularly Ultimate Spider-Man.

Bendis first entered the comic world with the "Jinx" line of crime comics in 1995. This line has spawned the graphic novels Goldfish, Fire, Jinx, Torso (with Marc Andreyko), and Total Sell Out. Bendis is writing the film version of Jinx for Universal Pictures with Oscar-winner Charlize Theron attached to star and produce.

Bendis’s other projects include the Harvey, Eisner, and Eagle Award-nominated Powers (with Michael Avon Oeming) originally from Image Comics, now published by Marvel's new creator-owned imprint Icon Comics, and the Hollywood tell-all Fortune and Glory from Oni Press, both of which received an "A" from Entertainment Weekly.

Bendis is one of the premiere architects of Marvel's "Ultimate" line: comics specifically created for the new generation of comic readers. He has written every issue of Ultimate Spider-Man since its best-selling launch, and has also written for Ultimate Fantastic Four and Ultimate X-Men, as well as every issue of Ultimate Marvel Team-Up, Ultimate Origin and Ultimate Six.

Brian is currently helming a renaissance for Marvel’s AVENGERS franchise by writing both New Avengers and Mighty Avengers along with the successful ‘event’ projects House Of M, Secret War, and this summer’s Secret Invasion.

He has also previously done work on Daredevil, Alias, and The Pulse.

Good stuff.
This has Powers, Vol. 3: Little Deaths & Powers, Vol. 4: Supergroup, if I'm not mistaken. The numbering on this whole series is harder than it should be to figure out, so feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

This collection includes the issue starring Warren Ellis, which was a highlight for me.
The other main story revolves around a hero called The Olympian. When he gets murdered, Christian and Deena are assigned to find the killer. I'm still not a fan of all of the court transcripts in this one, though. I just hate walls of text in comics and I don't think that will ever change.

It ends with the kerfuffle surrounding a supergroup calling themselves FG-3.
The plot thickens...

The stories in this volume were wild. I still love the noir feel and Detectives Walker and Pilgrim are great.
