Ascension Magick: Ritual, Myth & Healing for the New Aeon

Rate this book
Taking a magickal approach to this often misunderstood spirituality, Christopher Penczak explores the fascinating path of ascension. Ascension Magick unveils the diverse mystical roots of ascension, and highlights where the beliefs and practices of today's "light workers" intersect with those of modern pagans, witches, and magick practitioners. It also examines the practical side-various forms of magick, energy healing, meditation, past life regression, channeling, dowsing-and provides helpful meditations, spells, and exercises. From angels and aliens to reincarnation and the Merkaba, Penczak leaves no stone unturned in this remarkably thorough and absorbing examination of ascension spirituality and magick.

Christopher Penczak is a Witch, teacher, writer and healing practitioner. His practice draws upon the foundation of both modern and traditional Witchcraft blended with the wisdom of mystical traditions from across the globe as a practitioner and teacher of shamanism, tarot, Reiki healing, herbalism, astrology and Qabalah. He is the founder of the Temple of Witchcraft tradition and system of magickal training based upon the material of his books and classes. He is an ordained minister primarily serving the New Hampshire and Massachusetts pagan and metaphysical communities through public rituals, private counsel and teaching, though he travels extensively teaching throughout the United States.

Born in Lawrence, Massachusetts on May 10, 1973, Christopher was raised in an Italian/Polish family while living in Salem, NH. After twelve years of Catholic school and becoming an avowed agnostic, he initially pursued an interest in chemistry, stemming from a childhood fascination with alchemy and herbalism. As a youth, he had an out of body experience, passing out in a fourth grade science class, but observing the whole scene in spirit, from above the room. While in high school, he was visited by an apparition of his recently deceased great aunt. These two experiences made him question his dedication to science and pursue a study of the mystical and occult, as well as his artistic pursuits. He attended the University of Massachusetts as a vocal major, earning a Bachelor of Music Performance/Music Business in 1995 and set his sights on becoming a full time performer. While studying classical voice, he founded a band called Doctor Soulshine that fused mystical imagery and shamanic concepts to traditional heavy rock music.

While in college, a long time friend and teacher introduced Christopher to the principles of witchcraft, meditation, tarot and spell work. At first he was skeptical, but his experience with a healing spell at a full Moon ritual was enough to convince him that there was truth to these ideas and he sought to understand more. He took classes with Laurie Cabot, in her Cabot Tradition with an emphasis on Witchcraft As A Science. He was fascinated with the science and philosophy of her teaching, grounding witchcraft in sound thinking and personal experience. A psychic healing experience left him with a sense of empowerment and spiritual connection. After this initial training, he studied with an assortment of witches, shamans, yogis, psychic readers and healers in the New England area, developing an eclectic path of personal witchcraft. He later focused on the healing arts, completing training as a Reiki Master (Teacher) in the Usui-Tibetan and Shamballa traditions and certification as a flower essence consultant and herbalist.

After graduation from college, Christopher began work at the A&R department of Fort Apache, a recording studio and record label in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He soon found himself leading meditations and ritual groups for friends seeking to know more about the Craft. During his time in the Boston area, Christopher experimented with the ideas he later wrote about in his book City Magick: Urban Rituals, Spells and Shamanism. The initial ritual group formed the nucleus of the first Temple of Witchcraft series.

Although having no real interest in teaching formally, Christopher received a message during a meditation in 1998 to start teaching more and begin writing. Thinking it was his imagination, Christopher ignored it, saying to himself and the universe, “I’m too busy with my music career. If you want me to teach, give me the time.” The next week he was laid off from his job and had plenty of time. Although with a booming economy and many job opportunities, Christopher had no luck finding a position in the music industry, or a more traditional office job. When he posted a few flyers about meditation and witchcraft classes at a local shop, the response was immediate and he began teaching cla

Although I am a total fan of Christopher Penczak, and I love the evolution of his work with Copper Cauldron Publishing, gems like Ascension Magick are worth the read and practice. This writing is bridge work between the pagan, magickal and occult community and the New Age or Ascension community. Groups that have more in common than they would sometimes like to admit.

Though I admit to knowing a lot of the information presented in the book it still became an education. Collaborating ancient magickal practices, myth and the diverse energies into one place, it's a great "How too" book, though personally I would start with something more interesting and fundamental like The Inner Temple of Witchcraft and the Temple of Witchcraft Series by Christopher Penczak; this series has altered my life. :)

It was a hefty book that took me much longer to read than most Christopher Penczak books, because it wasn't as much things that I really considered before, and while much of it I considered and disregarded, I feel richer for having read it. There's a lot in here I just hadn't considered.

Hi there,

Just thought this book was worth a mention, as if I haven't got enough books bowing the shelves of my bookshelf already, I thought I'd push the boundaries of chipboard just a little bit further with this book. It's a big book, but that's not a bad thing, it's packed with all sorts of information which makes for an interesting read. Little did I know that I would need to test out one of the spells.

The spell I used was for Banishment of Unwanted Forces. I'd only had the book a few days and had already made a few notes on some ingredient I would need. If I go walking around ancient sites I often collect, with nature's permission of course, leaves, bark, berries or petals.

It was my dad's birthday, so we went for a walk through Rufford Park with our trusty Nikon cameras in hand. At one point we ended up in the ruins of the priory. After going inside we sat at a table with the life-size model of a monk. We took some pictures with him and listened to the sound of monks chanting which was very relaxing. On leaving the building to head down to the lake, I remember thinking how far back the park dates and that it must have a lot of spirits wandering around there. I then thought, I hope one doesn't follow me home, because being a Reiki healer I tend to attract spirits. We had a nice day then paid an exorbitant amount of money for an ice-cream at the tea room. I've not seen that kind of robbery since Dick Turpin threw a cape around himself and yelled, stand and deliver, only instead of stand and deliver they shouted, strawberry or vanilla. When she told me the price, I felt like shouting, get me a chair, I think I'm going to faint, and it wasn't from the heat of the day. Still complaining about the ice-cream we head home. My dad leaves and I go upstairs to work on a new story I'm writing. That's when I noticed a strange smell and electrical things started going haywire in my house. I said nothing, but when I went downstairs, my mum noticed the odour. She screwed up her face and said, what is that smell? I shake my head and think, here we go, I've brought someone home from my walk.

Now normally I would smudge and draw a few symbols, but I thought this time I would try out the book. So, I flick through the pages until I find Banishment of Unwanted Forces. On my walk, I noticed a hawthorn in the forest and collected a few of its white petals so they were already in my pocket. Luckily I already had everything else I would need. Pure water, 7 drops of Lavender, Orange rind, Sea Salt, and white flower petals. I can't tell you how nice this cleansing water smells after you have made it. I made a batch for a friend and she is now smitten by it. So, following the instructions in chapter 14 page 324 I set off around my house. I started at the top and intoned the 7th Ray decrees, examples of which start in chapter 13 pages 286-290. I finished the cleansing and the smell and the spirit vanished.

Odd how I had bought the book only a few days before and then found that I needed it. Well, let me tell you it worked, so I was as happy as a squirrel finding it's hoard of nuts. So, I for one can highly recommend this book and I will be experimenting with it again. I'm going to explore the Magick of the Rays chapter 13 and make some Ray sprays which you can also use when you do your spell work.

There is information on Archangels, Ascended Masters, The Starry Ones, Candle Magick, Psychic Protection, Implant Removal, Ascension Cosmology, Spiritual Hierarchy, in fact all sorts of information. There are drawings of the Angelic Forces, namely Angels Signatures. Reiki symbols, Chakra Charts, Runic Star Alphabet, Egyptian Hieroglyphics, Enochian Signs, it just goes on and on, so this is a great reference book to have on your shelf.

I also wrote a review on Christopher Penczak Reiki Magick book which I also loved and used to sell in my gift shop. I highly recommend that book as well.

So, I just wanted to share my little story about the book and hope that if anyone out there is toying with the idea of purchasing it, then go ahead and get it, you won't be disappointed. Oh and try to make the Banishing Cleansing water it smells divine.

One of the reasons Christopher Penczak's books are thick, and one reason why I like his books, is because Penczak, unlike some authors or people who tell you you have to do things their way or otherwise you can take the high way, gives you many ways to do what he's talking about, and often the tools to create YOUR way.

This book on the phenomenon of Ascension is typical of this, you will find here many different systems of Ascension to work with if you choose to. For anyone who has any interest in this subject, I'd say this is the perfect book for you.

Very, very interesting. Love the perspective of working with other cosmic forces. We are all a community after all. Wasn't able to read the book word for word, some of it is beyond my scope of interest for the moment.

I found lots of useful information. I appreciated that Penczak explained different ways to accomplish a task, a spell or ritual without being condescending as some writers do.

I will be returning to this book time and time again
