Bert accidentally breaks David's teapot at Hooper's Store. David explains that he had a similar mishap when he was younger and stresses that friendship is more important than a broke teapot.
I love this story. The characterizations are concise but delightful, and the story itself is very useful without being overly didactic. Frankly, I think this story taught the young me quite a bit about accountability. The lesson that's what important is not not making mistakes, but being honest and upfront about them, is a valuable one. Also, willingness to forgive and forget is illustrated with great verisimilitude, making it easy to empathize and to grow from.
