Untamed Hearts #2

Bear Combustion

Rate this book
Book two in the Untamed Hearts Series

Fire rages, not only through the forest to threaten the lives of his clan, but in the hearts of Tarek, the leader as well as Inuka, his firey lover and Raven, the stoic companion who secretly adores him. Can the flames of their love survive?

The amulet around his neck glows with fiery heat. Darkly handsome Tarek would just as soon ignore the warning and resume frolicking with his seductive companion, Inuka. But as the leader of the bear changeling clan, responsibility rests on his shoulders. Suddenly, the warmth of the talisman is overwhelming, and its meaning becomes clear. Wildfire races through the forest threatening everyone, and everything, in its path.

The bears must retreat to their winter caves for safety. The journey is long and time proves short. As flames dance from the treetops, sparks explode and embers shower the fleeing clan.

Not all are as strong and able-bodied as Tarek and his muscular mate Inuka. Seeing the clan members to safety is Tarek's primary concern. When their escape doesn't go as planned, the burden of his obligation may be too much for one man - or one bruin - to bear.

This story has male male interaction as part of a polyamourous relationship.

Jenna Byrnes could use more cabinet space and more hours in a day. She’d fill the kitchen with gadgets her husband purchases off TV and let him cook for her to his heart’s content. She’d breeze through the days adding hours of sleep, and more time for writing the hot, erotic romance she loves to read.

Jenna thinks everyone deserves a happy ending, and loves to provide as many of those as possible to her gay, lesbian and hetero characters. Her favorite quote, from a pro-gay billboard, is “Be careful who you hate. It may be someone you love.”

It was ok, but Tarek suffered of PMS too much, and he was very insensible, thought later the authors try to mend it so he can come sympathetic in the end, Raven was a very lovable character, but the authors make him look weak and lost, then there's Inuka, who the authors made look all capable, cold-headed and smart.

So unbalanced, Inuka was too perfect, Raven was lost and weak, and Tarek was a jerk.

The story is very fast paced, and sadly it suffered in the form I couldn't really make a deep connection with the characters, I honestly would have liked it more if after all what happened Raven rejected Tarek and went to another tribe to look for a man who cared for him like he deserved.
