The Alliance #9

Bound by Blood

Rate this book
Forced to deal with the aftermath of her parents’ murders, Caro isn’t expecting an ambush of Savages—or salvation to come from a man as frightening as the monsters hunting her.

Determined to destroy the demons, Saber realizes his mission is over when he learns that Charles, the man who could help him, is dead. However, Charles’s daughter might be the key to saving them… if only she would reveal her secrets.

Two things could save Caro and Saber as they battle the monsters stalking them: her unique ability and his burning desire to kill.

But as they grow closer, they might not have to worry about the Savages… they may just destroy each other.

Listened to the Audible Audiobook. I am only leaving a review here, not on Audible, as I refuse to type out two reviews when Amazon owns both companies and refuses to link Audible to Goodreads.

I love this series

I honestly love the alliance series more than the Vampire awakening series. And each book is getting better and better. I'm so pulled in that I'm sad I have to wait for the next book. I need to know lol. Love it.

slow and boring

I loved vampire awakening series so naturally I continued on
I would have given it 2 stars but I remember the series fondly
It’s like nothing really happens until the last couple of chapters
So loved the series but not this book

Saber goes looking for his friend Charles..
He picks a stone from Brie’s collection, a black one.. it fells like his…

Saber did not know his friend had a family.. and is sadden to learn that Charles and his mate were murdered only two weeks before.

Initially, Caro does not trust him, claiming to know nothing of Charles’s special skill with metal but they find the Savages who had killed her parents and Saber demonstrates what happens when his stone is placed in a sword, she agrees to make him a sword..

When the sword was finished, Saber wants to take out to test it, but he didn’t want her there. She wanted to see what would happen.. but instead of her acting as bait, she is taken as bait for Saber!
Saber succeeds in killing the Savages as well as a demon..
Back at the Alliance compound, Elena starts throwing up black bile and returns to normal..
Saber and Caro finally get together and realise they are mates..
Suddenly the story ends, when he has a vision, something that had never happened before … and he decides to ring his sister.

It seems a strange place to finish a book and the preview of the ‘next’ book is a seamless transition, just like reading the next chapter in a larger book!

I got this book in exchange for my honest review this review is 100% my own. The Alliance series is a spin off from her vampire awakenings series but can be read on it own.

The way she writes her characters and their stories is truly remarkable. She really knows how to tell a story and make you feel like your immersed in it.

This is Saber and Caros story. Saber is a member of the Alliance. After overcoming his dark past he is now a member of the Alliance a group of vampires and hunters who fight the growing number of savages and demons. When someone walks back into his life that he thought died long ago he knows he can't let her in he must shut down any emotions that surface emotions are dangerous for Saber but when he realizes she has what might help in their cause he sets out to get some help. Caro is just trying to get on with her life after finding her parents murdered but when a man walks into her life seeking her help she don't know if she can ignore the passion he evokes in her so she does what she can to try to ignore him but in the end will they come together and make the weapons needed to help the Alliance ow will Sabers emotions turn him into what he once was? This book is part 1 to Saber and Caros story. I love this story it had me reading late into the night I had a very hard time putting it down. This is a must read!

Once again Brenda has kept me on the edge of my seat throughout this entire book! I truly LOVE this series, but this one I could not put it down! Saber has always been a mystery man with the Alliance. A lot comes out in this series that makes me fall in love with this character. The horrible things he went through and survived is so unbelievable. Saber once a high level savage and very close to the high level demons knows just how to think like them. Once they learn he is still alive and where he is they will come for him! He will be ready for them though. There is so much I truly want to share, but I do not want to give away any spoilers with this one!

Caro is going to grow on me I just know it. Especially since she is Sabers mate. This woman is a killer sword maker and is learning fast just how cruel there world can be! After just losing her parents and Sabers best friend (her father), Caro has to grow up really fast with the demons wanting her for themselves or to just out right kill her like they did with her parents. They tortured them both them before ending their lives, but when they come for Caro, Saber is and will always be ready for them.

I have been waiting for Saber. He’s such an enigma I couldn’t wait to get my hands on him.
Brenda did not disappoint.
The Alliance has the stones. Saber knows who can make the swords.
After realising his sister is alive he needs to get away. Everything he has worked so hard for is unraveling. He needs to get a hold on his feelings before it’s too late.
Saber has his stone and sets off to find Charles.
Brie is heartbroken. Her parents have been murdered and her happy life as she knew it is done. Brie was taught the family trade by her dad and she’s good at it, loves it but can she help the Alliance?
Well the brute of a man that’s come looking for her dad is infuriating and so far off her wavelength it’s hard to see how or if the two can work together. Oh the sexual chemistry is there but Saber is being a complete ass.
I can’t wait to get stuck into the next instalment of Saber and Brie in Bound by blood.

Got to say straight up that was a truly spectacular story with and ending I could kill the author for !!! Come on Brenda what happens next? Who do I have to kill to get the next book? I just have to know!!! Cliffhangers are thrillingly frustrating lol
But I digress from my review…
Saber and Caro, the couple that doesn’t really want to want each other.
Saber has always been a mystery, I’m glad we’ve unraveled him a bit, I’m really glad Caro unravels him even more lol he needs a good unraveling 😂
Caro is in mourning/survival/wants to strangle or kiss Saber mode!!! In other words the poor woman is frustrated and knows she needs to fully focus on the swords she needs to make in her forge not the sexy vampire on her property, he is just a distraction nothing more.

Just when you thought the series couldn't get any better- it does! Another fantastic installment in The Alliance Series, Ms. Davies has outdone herself with this one! She writes with such great detail that you get pulled into the story, hanging on every word, wanting to get to the end yet not wanting it to end. This is how I feel about the entire Alliance series not just this installment, it is one of her best series to date! Saber's story was worth the wait! I love the characters and the chemistry they have. Twists and turns abound, stones are found, secrets are uncovered, relationships forged. Now the hunt to find someone to help create the swords and then put an end to the savages. This is a must read!

There’s is nothing I can say other than I am utterly
and completely enthralled by this story. To have a small glimpse into Saber was by itself thrilling as he is the one that is always there and not at the same time. AND THEN THE STONES!!! What is happening? Well this all just got kicked up a few notches. I love how the women in this series are portrayed as strong, independent and take charge. Team Caro. I am so excited to see more of what she is going to do. She does not back down. AMAZING. This is going to be fun. I’m going to say it again, what is happening? I am so invested in this series and it looking forward to it’s eventual end. The war between demons, savages and
The Alliance is going to be monumental.
Oh and the ending chef’s kiss ♥️.

Knowing this book was going to have a cliffhanger caused me some anxiety!! And although it was not a show-stopping cliffhanger, it still has me all twisted up!!!

I've been a huge fan of Saber since the first time he strolled onto the page, but right now I really want to Gibbs smack him! His mindset at the end is maddening!!! And the fact that he thinks it's going to be so easy to ignore what he now knows has me like "oh sweet summer child"!!

Caro is a badass & the complete opposite of the females Saber has been with before!! Of course this is why she's perfect for him!!!

I'm over the moon for Logan because that whole storyline has been killing me!!!

Impatiently waiting for the next book...

4.5 Stars! Saber and Caro

I really enjoyed the storyline of this book. I liked learning about Saber and his past. It was intriguing. Even though he was an unemotional, insensitive vampire, I still liked his character. He was also very strong and fierce. I loved how Caro tied in. Her Dad was old friends on Saber. Caro was also a take-no-crap-from-anyone person. I liked her. My only complaint is that their relationship was so drawn out. The push and pull got a bit frustrating as well as all their internal discussions about their wants and what couldn’t happen. I still really enjoyed the story though. And I cannot wait to jump into the next book!!! I’m sure it’s going to be a page turner!!!! And I’m pretty sure we will get our answer to Elena’s situation.

Sensational!! Need next book ASAP!!

OMG!!! Loved it and anxiously waiting for the next book!!! Saber is one vampire I would not want to make mad. Carolina (Caro) is a woman who could rattle his cage. The chemistry is H.O.T!!!! The banter is strong as is the pull between them. There are a lot of surprises in this book. The first one hits right at the beginning. I’m always very patient when it comes to cliffhangers but this one is driving me crazy. LOL. I did not want to put this book down. I read it in one night. This author has a way to draw you in and this book definitely did that to me. I love this story!!! Need more!!! ❤️

Bound by Blood is a beautiful story about finding love. Saber has kept his heart closed and kept everyone at arm's length. He is a man that makes no excuses for who he is and doesn't care what anyone thinks of him.

I love how Caro keeps him on his toes. They have incredible chemistry, and it's so much fun to read. I love how they take the time to work together and find a way to be around each other without fighting. Finding each other turns out to be a blessing in disguise.

This series is fantastic, and each book brings unforgettable characters. I can't wait for the next book. Author Brenda K. Davies never disappoints!

Each book in the Alliance series get better and better!
From the moment I met Saber, I wanted to know more about him.

Saber’s back story was so tragic. I understand why it led him on his path, but you can’t help but feel bad. When he meets the heroine, she shows him that he’s more than his faults.

Caro was definitely his match in every way. There was this one scene that had me cracking up. I don’t want to spoil it, but she definitely showed him who’s boss.

The plot line was ah mazing and the new revelations left me reeling. Like I need book two already.

Another exceptional read! I Absolutely fell in love with Saber's story! Each time that I read one of Brenda's books I think they can't get any better than this one, and the next one is always better. Saber's character is very closed off emotionally and he has been thrown three surprises that he has to work through. Caro is not a woman to boss around, can they work together long enough to get the mission complete or will they destroy each other? I love that there will be a second book for them because I am not ready for their story to end!

Caro appears as the daughter of the recently slaughtered “friend” of Saber. With the appearance of his sister and the demon stones. We finally know understand just how knowledgeable Saber is. Out to make weapons for his stone he finds Caro the daughter of the recently dead weapons maker. And off we go! Fights, attractions, long runs oh my! Saber and Caro fight a demon and Saber wins they find a way of releasing Elena! Can everyone be saved? Are the stones in their weapons the true secret? And what will the Demons do next? Next book is calling our names!

Good but wished it had more closure

A little disappointed. It took way too long for them to mate and then as soon as they did it was over. Nothing really happened and a lot was left hanging in the air. Getting a glimpse into sabers mind and past was interesting and the going back to Logan was also new but I still wish this book would have had more. Then the relationship between Saber and Caro wasn't where I thought it would be when they finally mated. Good series and hopefully the next book will have more.

Leaves you on the edge of your seat!!!

I couldn't wait for Saber's story and Brenda did not disappoint! OMG I can't believe my eyes. I was drawn in from page 1 and could not put the book down. Saber is cold and doesn't show weakness until he meets Caro and he struggles to keep his emotions at bay. He loves to rile her up and she gives it right back which is hilarious! This book does end on a cliffhanger and I am so eager for the next to find out if Elena is ok and if they find a way to stop the demons!!;;

Another page turner. Cora is lost since her parents death. In steps Saber. Someone she has never heard of but he has one of the weapons her father forged. He needs her to forge more weapons to help kill the demons. She is skeptical but she does one for him. The struggles and fight are tumultuous. And the cliff hanger for book 10.... OMG 😲 can't wait!!! Enjoy everyone. If you love Brenda's work, this one doesn't fail.

Does distance really work?

I swear I have been waiting for Sabers story since he came on scene! Now that we have a part of it I cannot wait to devour the rest! And Alphahole who believe emotions need to be stifled and they can only lead to bad things, typical! And Caro here to shove his attitude in his face and bring about emotions he doesn’t want. Yep! BKD delivers us with an amazing look into this world yet again!

Saber brings to life a new character in the Alliance Series. Mystery surrounds him that draws you into the story and rooting for his happily every after with Caro. There is a continuation of Saber's story but the over arching story draws you in and making you want for more. Can't wait to see what is in store for rest of Saber and Caro's story!

inner dialogues

I gave this book 5 stars because the story is really really good. It can do with a lot less inner dialogues. I bypass most of them and probably lose some of the story. Also great fighters don’t lower the shoulder and charge, you get dead that way. So those are my negatives and they are small compared to the positives in this series.

OMG Saber….hot, hot, hot! This is, to me, one of her best storyline. Caro and Saber are a perfect hate, hate love?? relationship. Plus vampires are a brilliant book. Love vampires. I don’t go into a lot of details of a story ( spoilers ) but, I will say this, BUY IT NOW! Weekend is here and you know you want to read. Enjoy!

interesting turn of events

Great follow up on series. You get a glimpse of what the author is thinking to save the infected vampires. You also learn a surprise find of family sets in motion the trail to another vampire mating even if it is reluctant. I am looking forward to the next book as this one has a major cliff hanger!

Beautiful story

I really enjoyed Saber and Caro’s story. I wish the book had a more finished “ending” like some of the others. But, I am also intrigued to know that there is more to their story. I love the way the story with getting rid of the demons is shaping up! Can’t wait for the next book!!

Bound by blood

Saber and Caro's storyline is one of emotion, sadness, hope, suspense, revelations, chemistry, mates and success. With all the stones found Saber seeks a sword maker to forge the new swords of damnation. This was a step in the right direction for the alliance and there story will continue.
