Young teens will relate to Ann Bryant’s original, lively, and humorous 12-book series about contemporary children, who are all connected by the chain of relationships formed when their parents divorce and re-couple. Titles are self-contained, but the same characters appear throughout the series. Each book deals with a specific problem of living in a blended family. In Too Good to Be True, volume 4 of The Step-Chain Series, we get to know Becca. Her mom describes her boyfriend’s daughter perfect in every way. She’s pretty, smart, and talented, while Becca, with her stringy hair, multiple zits, and complete lack of boobs, seems to be the complete opposite. How can she live up to the flawless stepsister?
An author of series fiction for young readers, Ann Bryant was educated at the Royal College of Music, and worked for a number of years as a music teacher. She has also written for various BBC Schools Radio programmes, and composed the theme and incidental music for BBC TV's Tales of Aesop series.
