An ancient, corrupting curse is passed to an unsuspecting Conner Griffin following an encounter with a mysterious woman. Initially, exhilarating powers of persuasion, especially with the opposite sex, are intoxicating. Soon the dark sides of the curse make themselves stark, disturbing dreams every night followed each morning by headaches, increasing in severity daily. Dreamscapes feature a menacing creature, compelling its host to pass the curse to another or suffer unimaginable agonies. The curse is passed to Dottie Gannon, a married music teacher, then to Glenn Denton, a jazz musician. Each host realizes the futility of resistance to the creature s wants. Glenn holds the curse too long, attempting to reap material gains. The creature, enraged, pulls him into ever-more gruesome nightmares and headaches so severe, he feels his head will explode. He must find a way to defeat the creature before it extracts its horrific vengeance on him and his family.
