Oscar Taylor was a dog from way back, having had more women between his sheets than Essence and Cosmo combined, and many while being married. But all that changes for him when first his best friend, the guy he has shared many women with, gets married and is enjoying it and then Oscar's wife tries to kill herself. From then on, he is a changed man. Feeling villianified, guilt has worn him down and he wants redemption and to be a husband. Katherine wants a man badly but she won't settle. She is sent from her hometown of Milwaukee to the west coast for a little less than a year and believes it is her chance to relax and get to know herself better. Going to Portland, Oregon of all places, she has no worries about trying to date. She believes there is a shortage of good Black men in the world and she knows Portland has less than most towns to choose from. What she finds, though, is that good men are in deed hard to find but a man that is willing to learn can be good for the soul. And in turn, Oscar, who before meeting the dark beauty from the Midwest, couldn't tell a soul mate from a good lay, falls for just the right woman.a dog trainer.
