Rate this book
He had coldly broken a promise of marriage

Randall Logan had callously used Rena Everett two years before, pretending a love he'd never felt. Rena had been crushed by his deceit - and determined to erase any tender memories of the man who had so cruelly betrayed her.

Meeting Randall again came as a shock, but Rena found it even more shocking that now he was blind. Worse, she realized she loved him as much as ever.

This time, though, she wouldn't let him manipulate her emotions as long as Randall was unable to guess her true identity.

Story opens with the heroine signing up for a writing class and finding the lover who took her virginity and jilted her is the teacher. After reeling from that shock, she realizes that he is now blind.

Okay then.

He doesn't recognize her voice(!?) and she uses a different name than the stage name she had used in Sydney (!?)so she is able to continue the sweet torture of being around him. He is bitter about a woman who left him because he was going blind. She is bitter because he dumped her and apparently fell in love with some other woman. (Honestly, she doesn't get that she is the woman he is talking about - he still wears the groovy medallion she gave him) So *blind* is our theme for both of them. Of course it was the evil secretary that told them both a pack of lies and split them up for two years. The best part of the whole crazysauce plot is that the hero's blindness is psychosomatic, triggered when the h left him. Yes, hysterical blindness exists and is alive and well in Queensland.

While the story was pretty predictable, it reminded me of why I like to read Harlequins. In the immortal words of Jay Z :
"If you're having girl problems I feel bad for you son/ I've got 99 problems but hysterical blindness ain't one."

This is a nice reunion romance with a classic evil Other Woman causing trouble. Ran and Rena has a brief romance two years ago and then he left. Now he's turned up in the coastal town in Queensland where Rena has taken refuge. He is teaching a class and Rena is shocked to realize he is blind.

Ran is bitter because the girl he loved ran out on him. He doesn't recognize Rena and she is using a different name so he is at a disadvantage.

Ran has a secretary who is in control of his life and means to keep it that way.

Overall this is a nice little story. Lots of misunderstandings and the evil OW doing her best to keep them apart. A satisfactory ending.

Hard to believe he didn’t recognize her voice although it had been only 2 weeks and 2 years before. Unusual story and plot, a little slow. And I detest lies.
