I read this book in elementary school
did a book report on it too

I remember when someone wanted to see the book in my hand, either out of the library or returning it, they saw the front and back cover.....and they said

"You know all the freaks!"

This is a YA book, but is an excellent biography of an incredibly interesting man, George Proteus Steinmetz. He was an electrical inventor involved in the study of alternating current. I was interested in the man because he was associated with GE in Schenectady. The book not only covers his career, but also his life and the challenges he faced as a hunchback. The book was also published under the title; The Electrical Genius of Liberty Hall; Charles Proteus Steinmetz. I always appreciate YA biographies because they give you just the right amount of information while adult biographies are often too long and get bogged down in details I am not interested in.
