Luxembourg is one of Europe's smallest states, yet it is rich in history and boasts a glorious past of emperors, knights, castles and faith. In modern times it has endured foreign occupation and partition before becoming a modern state in the nineteenth century. Despite this, Luxembourg enjoys influence way beyond its size. This book tells the story of Luxembourg from ancient times, through the crusader period and centuries of foreign domination, to the growth of the modern, prosperous Luxembourg of today.
4 stars for content, 2 for writing, 1 for lack of sources and index and bibliography. This book had so much information. I want to edit and cite it so it can be a trusted source, because there aren't many books about Luxembourg (especially Luxembourg's history) in English. What do you say Andrew Reid??
I gave the book 5 stars because I'm Moving to Luxembourg and it helped me to have a general overview of Luxembourg's history. Now I know what topics/dates/names I should look if I want more information.
This is a chronology of events shaping the Grand Duchy. It's kind of like a textbook for a high school class. Not much story telling involved but a gazillion facts strung together.
