From New York Times bestselling author Kendall Ryan and the up-and-coming dynamo Billie Bloom comes an all-new romance with sizzling heat, found-family and what it means to truly be happy.

Being trapped all winter in a remote Alaskan off-grid town sounds horrible, until you meet the lumber-hunks that offer to share their space with us.

You wouldn't suspect a group of L.A. women are capable of hacking it here, but you'd be wrong.

Turns out, we have just what this group of former military operatives need in life, and it's so much more than any of them want to admit.

It’s 4.5 ⭐️ for me.
I loved both characters very much.
They are both strong and independent.
No crazy drama or whining but a great and strong romance growing.
They both have a great sense of humor.
It was fun, fast, sexy, steamy and strong story.
So why not 5 stars; for me a few times the language was just a bit to rough and there were a few mistakes.
I don’t know how to say this since I’m Dutch .
We would say crude......... I don’t mind the swearing and explicit sex talk.
But his meat.........no don’t like that. That would his dick for me.
I know it’s weird but that just how I feel.
Loved the story and I would read any book by this author.
Can’t wait to read the next 1.
Note; I was given a copy for a honest review.
And please let me know where I can find this little town I would move there anytime.

I didn’t dislike the book, but I wasn’t in love with it either. I think everything felt rushed and I feel like I couldn’t connect with the characters because of this. Perhaps if the book had been longer, I feel like maybe the flow of the book would have been better.

But this insta lust/love story was still enjoyable, but like I said, I think it needed more content.

I just felt like we needed more from the characters because I didn’t feel anything towards them which is what I like when reading a book; I like to be able to feel their emotions and unfortunately, I didn’t experience that with this one.

This was so bad that it was ALMOST good. The meet cute was quite hilarious, however any potty humor gives me the ick in books. Super entertaining. Love the plot, so much potential with it, just very subpar writing.

,, … but my bladder

is protesting. I make my way far from the tents, back

up the tree-covered hill, because that’s how I roll.

It’s quiet, but my ears perk at every little scurry

sound, every little rustle and snap. When I find the

perfect secluded place, I pull down my pants, ass out in

the freezing morning air. The only sound I hear next is

the sound of my own stream, live and unbound in

Mother Nature. That, and a wolf whistle. Not an actual

wolf, but like a person making a cat call to someone to

get their attention. Then as my head snaps up to the

sound, my headlamp hits him, a man, standing about

twenty feet away, watching me pee.

“Fuck,” I shout in response, jumping up at the

sight of the unexpected, effectively peeing on my own

pants before I can cut off the stream. I stumble

forward a few feet and then my ankle rolls and I’m on

the ground, landing across a log that bangs hard into

my ribs.

I groan and cough to catch my breath, and yeah,

my ass is still exposed. Talk about a full white moon.

The man chuckles as he crunches over to me. “You

okay?”

“Please, look away,” I groan, and tug my pants,

which only makes me yelp harder. I must have fucked

up my wrist too. “Delete all the images from your

brain.”

“I mean, I can walk away if you want. Or, I can

help you.” His deep voice rumbles over the words, and

even though he scared the pee out of me, or rather

scared the pee back in me, his voice sounds friendly.

“But this isn’t something I’m going to easily forget.”

“Okay. Please, help me. Just let me right myself.

You work on quickly acquiring a rare form of shortterm amnesia, deal?”

He laughs. “Deal. I’m Jameson, by the way.”

“Jolie.” I groan my name as I shift onto my bare

ass, which is very cold on the ground, for the record.”

--

This is the beginning of an epic story about finding eternal love in the wilderness of cold Alaska ( - just kidding.) The story is essentially true, but it is written in a funny way. Yes, it is predictable and you already know how it will end, the main characters sometimes got on my nerves, but I still enjoyed it. This is the first book I've read by the author, I hope it won't be the last.

Just didn't work for me at all

I haven't read any of Kendall's books before but I've read all of (her sister) Billie Bloom's books so I had to give this a go. Billie's work so far has been MM and I loved them all. Her characters are real and have fun while they're finding their feet in life and in love, but unfortunately this book was not like that.
It was rushed, it was hard to read because of errors all over the place (though I did read an ARC so it may have been tidied up), and it was insta-love that didn't feel at all realistic. The setting was marvellous and I loved that the authors didn't disguise how harsh the environment and the life was for the people there, but that didn't make up for everything else that didn't work for me.
The two stars were for the landscape and Nina. The rest didn't merit anything more from me.

SPOILERS

It went downhill from the very beginning with Jameson cat-calling (her words) Jolie when she was peeing outdoors, startling her so she peed on her pants and then fell heavily forward onto a log, hurting her ankle, her wrist and her ribs badly. He proceeded to laugh at her then pick her up and carry her to his home and because her wrist was so bad, he just undressed her and carried on staring at her completely inappropriately. Just read the first chapter on Amazon's 'Look inside' feature and you'll get the gist. That was just not what I expected from these authors at all. At no point did he even have the grace to apologise for his treatment of her, and she just melted because he was such a handsome lumbersexual. Puh-lease. I'm all for hot sexy cavemen but this was many steps too far.

Funny, Frustrating & Flirty! This book gives a little bit of everything!
The main character Jolie has a dry sense of humor, that had me laughing (even out loud) constantly throughout the book. Tempted gives the vibes it is written /geared towards a younger generation (millennials) with its references and wording. It was refreshing to read a book that wasn’t so strait laced and “proper” and I’m not even talking about the spicy scenes yet lol. It was nice to have a main character speak the same way as the the reader (me) and make her so relatable. I also appreciated that the authors weren’t afraid to touch on subjects like throuple, transgender, etc. The spicy scenes were very good, I just wish there were more of them!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more in the series.

If you like the following, then you should add Tempted to your TBR pile:
-Forced Proximity
-Funny & Good Banter
-Surprise Pregnancy
-Dual POV
-Miscommunications
-Alaskan Wilderness Setting

Purely based on my preferences, I gave 4 stars. There were some minor grammatical errors, which weren’t too big of a deal.. but what would have pushed the fifth star for me would have been more spicy scenes, and some additional interactions/conversations between J and J to build the connection between them more.

Jolie, a member of an all female camera crew arrives on a remote island in Alaska to film the townspeople in their daily lives.

Jameson was born and raised on the island, before becoming a Marine, and after being deployed for several years, has returned to live on the island.
Most of his squad have also moved there too, as they are a tightly knit bunch who found getting back to their real lives difficult.

Jolie injures her ankle when she takes a fall, and Jameson carries her to his home, and tends to her injuries.

Circumstances force the film crew to seek shelter with the town residents, as their tents are deemed unsafe for their survival, and Jolie stays on with Jameson.

They are both drawn to each other, but have their own reservations about forming a relationship.

As the filming process goes on, the women are drawn into the life of the town, and their fight for survival. Some love it, some don’t.

Jolie and Jameson’s story is the first in a new series from this author, and is a really good read from start to finish. Things don’t always go to plan, and it was a pleasure to read how the camera crew, the former marines, and the townspeople deal with the everyday situations.
I’m looking forward to the next book in the series.

Steamy military/lumberjack, close proximity romance; definitely 4.5 stars
Jameson and his squad left the military. Jameson went home to Port Providence, Alaska and most of his military buddies gravitated there eventually. They liked the shared living, back-to-nature, live-off-the-land life to be had because after their stint in the military they felt far from human anymore. As they needed money to upgrade the self-constructed cabins in their Alaskan commune with indoor plumbing and such, they competed for a reality TV show. The film crew the show sent out was all female. Jameson and his buddies: JP, Tucker, Henry and West encounter the film crew of Jolie, Evie, Chloe, Beth and Naomi. As expected and much appreciated (wink), there were fireworks. There are some scenes that have been seared into my memory, they were scorching. Jameson and Jolie’s meet-cute is funny and embarrassing, but perfect for these two. Can’t be complete without a troublemaker. Fortunately, the angst is limited.
This was a fascinating story. If you like military and lumberjack buff guys meeting and romancing strong women, try this book. I volunteered to review an ARC of it through BookSirens. I enjoyed this story so much, I’ve bought the next book which will be about Henry and Chloe!

I received an advance copy for free and I am voluntarily leaving my review. Jolie heads to a remote Alaskan village as part of documentary filming crew and meets Jameson. He is a veteran who has retuned home to his quiet life after surviving a couple of tours in the Army. He has been lucky enough that some of his team mates decided to move with him as they found civilian life difficult. When Jolie takes a tumble Jameson rescues her and their attraction is instant. She thinks it would be nice to have a little fun while she is there, but he isn’t so sure. The more time they spend together the harder the attraction is for him to fight. When they do get together sparks ignite. When it’s time for the crew to leave Jolie finds it difficult, but knows it’s time to go home and she isn’t really sure we’re they stand. When filming brings her back a few months later a misunderstanding and some unexpected news throw a few hurdles in their way, but they manage to overcome them. I loved the concept of this story and the heat level, but I would have liked to get to know the main characters a bit more. Everything happened so quickly I felt as if I had missed out on getting to know them better.

Jolie hid all her insecurities behind a funny personality. Jameson was the silent, broody, strong-enough-to-carry-a-grown-up woman-all-the-way-up-the-stairs-without-breaking-a-sweat type. I liked the main characters. However, I found their romantic interactions rather bumbling and mired in insecurities from both characters. The awkward progress toward their happy ending continued up until the end of the story. I think it took something away from the chemistry these two should have had.

However, there were elements of the story I did like very much. I liked the idea of the tiny town of Port Providence, Alaska with it’s small population of colorful characters sporting a make-do attitude towards life. Sounds like it could be an interesting place to visit. I also liked the military brotherhood backstory of the men showcased in this series. Finally, the all-female, Hollywood documentary film crew was a believable backstory for how so many competent, pretty women ended up together in such a remote town.

Jolie is part of a five girl film crew that lands in Alaska to film a documentary about the people of Port Providence, Alaska. They live remotely out in the Alaskan wilderness where is dangerously beautiful and practically uninhabited. All of the neighbors in the small village help each other out for survival.
Her first early morning there, Jolie needs to pee and gets caught by Jameson midstream while squatting in the woods. Needless to say, she pees on her own pants and lands but naked in the snow, twisting and spraining her ankle. Luckily Jameson lives close by and carries her to his cabin to get her cleaned up and to care for her ankle. Slowly Jameson and Jolie get to know each other and develop an attraction. The only problem is that filming is wrapping up and Jolie and her crew are due back in L.A. soon.
I really enjoyed this story, it had its steamy moments. These characters were entertaining. The story was well written and definitely something you should checkout if you like rugged ex-military mountain men.

Enticing series opener

I really like the whole concept of the story we are introduced to in TEMPTED. Jameson and the guys he served with in the special marine forces retire from the military and return to their homes. Jameson returns to the Alaskan wilderness where basic survival is a way of life, and the community is a family that pools their skills and resources.

Jolie, her sister and the other girls form a nature film crew that ends up in Providence and the story is about these girls pairing (or tripling) up for the filming period and what goes on after that.

It’s a slow burn, steamy and not too angsty even though the conflict part of the plot is really good. It was a page turner. The strength of the story made me want more. I do feel the dialogue could be smoother. Even when the couple was being romantic, things felt a little stiff and awkward. That doesn’t stop me from being ready for the next book. I wanted it to be about Evie, but it looks like we’ll have to wait a bit for that one. Good story!

2.5 stars (rounded up, because I'm feeling generous today)

Listen, I really wanted to like this story. I did. It just did not work for me on pretty much any level.

From the pacing (which is wild, because this is such a short book!) to the exposition (not super developed) to the editing (different spellings for the same word in different chapters, etc.), every element felt super underwhelming and underdeveloped. Maybe it just needed to cook a little bit longer? I don't know.

There is a ton of potential with this story, and with the stories of the secondary characters, but I wish the authors would have made more of an effort to match their respective voices, and have edited it better so that this cohesion could take place. It just felt... all over the place. Which did not make my reading experience a happy one.

If this were on KU, I'd say go for it if you feel so inclined, but as it is priced right now, I'd recommend you save your money and spend it on something else.

Book: Tempted

Author: Billie Bloom & Kendall Ryan

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Genre: Winter Romance

Spice Level: 🌶️🌶️🌶️

Pub Date: January 17th, 2023

This is the start of a new series: Wild Winter Nights. This is my first book review with BookSirens. We follow a group of L.A women film crew to a remote Alaskan off the grid town to shoot some footage for a potential pilot with a pack of lumbar Jack hunks.

At first glance, you wouldn’t suspect them to be able to hack it out here. But you’d be wrong.

Turns out they are just what this former military squad needs in their life and it’s so so much more than any of them want to admit.

❤️’s:

•opposites attract

•off grid living

•village/neighborly bond

•a little drama thrown in

A remote Alaskan town, a grumpy former military man turned lumberjack, a sunshine woman from LA = Tempted.

The moment Jameson and Jolie meet there is a connection and an attraction between them. Their first meeting was not your typical one and it was enjoyable. I loved seeing them explore their relationship and see it grow over their short time together.

I loved all the guys, they were just a great group and you can feel the strong bond and connection they all have. Plus, all the women. I love that is an all female film crew and they can actually do a pretty great job at handling themselves in the Alaskan wilderness.

Seriously, this town though….I mean it is full of a bunch of former military men, how could you not want to at least visit there!?!

If you’re looking for a military, forced proximity, grumpy/sunshine romance check this one out.

It was wonderful to read a love story that takes place in Alaska!

Jameson is former military and lives in Alaska in a remote area. His friends from the military have joined him there. Civilization is hard for them to live in now. Jolie arrives with a camera crew to film a documentary of the area and the extremely small community. These people help each other all the time to help each other survive. There are only two women in this community. It’s a funny but embarrassing situation when they meet. Jolie makes the best of that situation, while Jameson is closed off and kind of grumpy. The attraction between them is strong. This is a slow burn and getting to know you book, with lots of cuddles and more embarrassing situations, with temptation on the side. It’s also steamy with everyday action. There are also bumps along the way.

Jamison is back in Alaska after his time with the Marines. Some of his bodies have come to stay as they realize they can’t live in society. Jolie is part of an all-girl filming crew going to Alaska to do a documentary series. After getting hurt, Jamison insists she stay with him until she is healed. I loved the scenery in this book and felt like I was right there being cold, fishing and eating Salmon, and struggling against the weather. There is such a sense of community, and everyone pitches in to help. I liked the struggles between Jamison and Jolie both during their time together trying to not get involved and their time away. This is a great book stressing the importance of finding yourself and being comfortable with who you are.

Tempted is Book 1 in the Wild Winter Nights series by Billie Bloom. A bunch of ex-marines settle in a small town in Alaska and think they will never find love. Along comes some women from L.A. who are filming a documentary. Four weeks can seem like a lifetime if you are somewhere you hate but it can fly by when you are somewhere that feels like home. Jameson and Jolie find they are attracted to each other but live opposite types of lives. Will they find true love and figure out where they are supposed to live? I highly recommend this book to everyone.

Jameson, a man who depends on himself and the other people in town to survive the harsh weather and conditions, in Alaska. Jolie is with an all woman film crew there to film what life is like for them.

Things get off on the wrong foot when Jolie meets Jameson.

First the ladies get lost as it is almost dark when they arrive and they have to hike a pretty good distance to get to the town. Then when they pitch their tents, Jolie has an accident because Jameson scares her making her fall and sprain her ankle.

Will they be able to get along, learning each other, as they go about living?

Tempted has a slightly implausible plot, but it is a sweet fantasy. What happens when an all-female film crew goes to a mostly male wilderness community to film a documentary? Jolie is one of the crew, and Jameson rescues her from her folly. He tries really hard to resist temptation, but the sparks finally fly. Disasters, major and minor, ensue. The communal nature of this place is lovely to read and imagine. I liked how the women react when back in the city--it's too loud and crowded. I loved how the connections build slowly but are solid and true. All the characters are great, and I can see several more books to come.

Loved this!!

What a great start to a new series!! I loved this story of Jolie and Jameson!! Jameson and his military team live in a remote location in Alaska. Jolie and the other female filming crew come to Alaska to film the town for a series. The chemistry is hot right away between Jameson and Jolie. The ladies are only there a few weeks and then return home. With lingering thoughts of what they left behind. The series gets picked up and they return to Alaska. I love these two together!! Great book and I can't wait for the next in the series!!

I LOVE Billie’s previous MM books about college hockey players. At first glance, this story looks nothing like them: an MF romance about Ex-military men and independent women closer to 30 than 20 in uninhabitable Alaskan wilderness.

However, once you start to read, you realize the author’s great sense of humor and amazing talent for writing spicy scenes are still intact. The emotion of both coming back from war trying to fit into “real life” and pain of shattered relationships was spot on.

Highly recommend!

Feral
Heartwarming and Rugged. What do you get when 5 retired Marines end up on a reality show? Well let’s throw another curveball into the mix and say that they all live on a remote island in the wilds of Alaska! Make you wonder what happens. Hopefully there will be more books about the other guys but this one was primarily about the group leader, Jameson and the woman that knocks him for a loop, Jolie. A detailed story about what the guys have been through and how they all survive the wilds of Alaska. Bring in an all female filming crew and watch the hormones explode!

I thought this book had great potential with a premise that had promise but then so many areas fell flat. None of the main characters had a last name which made it oddly difficult to connect with them. There was little to no description of the town or homes. There evidently wasn't a single business in town, the time lines didn't add up, and the entire scenario around the helipad was ridiculous.
One of the biggest issues I had was evidently neither writer felt it necessary to re-read their manuscript before publishing as the amount of errors was in excess of 50!!

I was left disappointed.

This novel didn’t really work for me. An all-female crew arrive at a remote location in Alaska to film a pilot for a reality show about a small community.

The meet-cute wasn’t really cute. I was worried for the women in the company of sex-starved men, but it turned out that they wanted sex, too. The smut scenes were a yawn. In spite of having a rather unique location, the author didn’t develop a sense of place.

The heart of a romance novel is discovering how the two protagonists overcome obstacles to have their HEA. Their relationship felt so rushed that it felt unbelievable.

Jameson & Jolie

Very fun read! Kind of a slow burn in that Jolie & Jameson are living together while she's there filming, and there's a huge attraction between them, but they are more cuddle/makeout friends for most of it. The feelings growing between them happen pretty fast, tho!

I enjoyed this couple & getting to know the other characters and the town. Very unique community they have, and I love how everyone looks out for each other!

😍😍😍
