What the actual fuck did I just read? Let's talk about it I guess! Let me preference this by saying this is a TABOO INCEST NOVEL.
Now, on my account, we rarely judge. I believe Fiction I where the world can be explored in your mind and have a small number of boundaries.
Taboo is a genre where you can explore things and fantasize or just see the fascination about certain things that would never be allowed in the real world because it is most likely illegal or morally wrong. Now, Incest is illegal and wrong and in real life but I do believe some things can be okay in the fictional world. Just because someone reads an Incest novel doesn't mean they support it and would partake in real life. Just because I like Serial Killer books doesn't mean I am one or want to be one. Sometimes it's fun to see how Forbidden things are without actually doing that. That's what fiction is for, to explore things that you probably might not experience in real life. With that being said, there are 2 things I will never stand for, in the real world and the fictional world. Rape/Sexual Assault and Pedophilia. In no world are those two things acceptable to me.
This book just feels wrong and disgusting, and it has nothing to do with Incest or breastmilk play. Wow. Never thought I'd ever be saying that sentence. I have always hated the innocent young girl and experienced old man trope. This book just felt....predatory? Writing about Incest and other Taboo topics takes certain things to make it seem somewhat okay. You want a good Incest novel? Check out Seven Rue, Nyla K and K Webster (there are probably others too). Even with the aspect of something so Taboo, they wrote it in such a way that it was Forbidden but craved. This book was the told opposite.
I'm not even going to talk about the breast milk play because hey, some people are into that and their kinks are non of my business. That's not hurting anyone. This book though. So apparently the FMC father left them so his older brother takes care of them. He gives her a list of rules she must follow or they would be thrown out on the street. When she reaches 18, she has to move in with him and has a new list of rules to follow. I'm guessing you can see where this is going. Apparently, he's making her take tablets that give her breastmilk? And it works so well to the point where it hurts from being so full. So basically she isn't educated about any of this and is obligated to do whatever sexual deeds he wants otherwise she'll be put out on the street. Rape isn't always just saying no and being forced. That's one aspect of rape but there is so much more that isn't spoken about. The manipulation, the gaslighting, the not letting someone know all the information before they agree to something. She asks him why he didn't do anything sooner and he said because she was too young. She knows of sex and stuff because her mother made her watch porn. Once again though, this book didn't feel Forbidden, it just felt plain wrong. It was as if he was taking advantage of her just without using excessive force.
Also, the man's name was Gordon...every time I read his name, two people popped up in my head and I wished neither of them did. Who popped up in my head you asked? Gordon Ramsey...yes like the chef. The other one was Gordon from Gothom...yes Batman Gothom. It was a tough ride.
