I received an advance reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review as part of the book tour hosted by Headline Books.
Go Seek is the first book by Michelle Teahan I've had the pleasure of reading, and it will definitely not be the last! Maeve, a mother of two young children, is thrust into her dark past when her baby is stolen right from under her nose. She can not turn to anyone for help and can only trust herself to get her child back from the dangerous people who have her. Racing back to Ireland and thrust back into a past she'd hoped was behind her, Maeve reaches out to a former flame for Intel, and we see a dark and dangerous side to this vulnerable mother. We follow Maeve into a seedy life of organised crime, lies, secrets, and dangerous players. Just when you think you know where this book is going, it throws you completely off course. So cleverly written and executed, and I hope there will be a sequel!
Read and reviewed for Michelle Teahan, NetGalley and Headline Publishers.
Publication date 1st June 2023 on kindle and 15th February 2024 in paperback.
This is Michelle's debut novel.
This novel consists of a prologue, 48 chapters and an epilogue. The chapters are short to medium in length so easy to read 'just one more chapter' before bed...OK, I know yeah right, but still just in case!
'Go Seek' discusses some topics that may upset some readers or may not be suitable for others. I like to point this out ahead of time in my reviews so you can judge if this book is for you or not. In this book Michelle discusses/includes violence, threats to children and miscarriage.
WOW!!! AN ABSOLUTELY ACTION PACKED AND ADDICTIVE THRILLER THAT I JUST COULD NOT PUT DOWN!!!
The first thing I have got to say is an absolutely HUGE CONGRATULATIONS to the amazing author Michelle Teahan!!! I was absolutely mind blown that when I had finished this epic page turner I went to add the rest of her books to my Amazon wish list only to discover that THIS is her DEBUT novel!!! I mean just WOW fairplay!!! If THIS is what you can create for your very first book then I just cannot wait to see what on Earth you will come out with next!!!! If you are looking for any ideas on what amazing page turner to create next then I would absolutely LOVE to read more about Maeve and Christopher, maybe more about Christopher's history? Without giving anything away I would love to see more about any of the characters in this book, both past and future, a while series would be amazing!!! Hint hint 😉!! Anyway, moving on...
The storyline is extremely powerful, addictive and eye opening. Along with being unique and EXPLOSIVE it is also an extremely fast paced thriller filled with suspense!! It started with a very chilling prologue and the pace kept getting faster and faster making it feel like the reader is on a rollercoaster ride!!! I couldn't read the book fast enough and was flipping the 'pages' until early in the morning. I was not expecting the explosive secrets that were scattered throughout !! There is no way in hell I would have worked out that absolutely bombshell ending!!! I was absolutely mind blown and gobsmacked!!! A HUGE CONGRATULATIONS 👏 to Michelle on that as it is getting harder and harder to surprise me with all the crime and psychological thrillers I have read but you managed it hook, line and sinker!!! I won't say any more than that as don't want to spoil it for future readers but I was absolutely shocked!! It is ram packed with deceipt, mystery, family, secrets, lies, drama, crime, twists , murder, suspense, mind blowing surprises and everything you could want in a psychological thriller!! Michelle's evocative writing skills sucks the reader straight into the storyline with multiple timelines as well as multiple protagonists, both first and third person perspective, she ensures you don't just see everything that is going on but actually brings the characters and storyline to life all around you. I was left with my heart absolutely pounding on the edge of my seat!!! What happened to Maeve is every parents worse nightmare and straight from the start I was completely invested in the storyline and just had to know what was going to happen. I gave up counting how many times I told myself one more chapter just to HAVE to know what happened next as this happened over and over until I ended up devouring the whole book in one sitting!!!
The characters are all solid and realistic with a large range of personalities!! I absolutely loved Maeve and was completely invested in her. I loved how she had all these different personality traits and that she is one kick butt woman that there is no way I would want to get on the wrong side of!!!
Michelle's evocative writing skills brings each of them to life making them jump out of the pages while you are swept away on this epic page turner!!! I had no idea which characters to trust, like and/or hate and Michelle evoked so many different feelings for each of the characters as well as different emotions in all the many scenarios and scenes!!! Regardless of how you feel about any of the characters they all played their parts perfectly to create this absolutely addictive page turner and I would love to 'meet' many of them again!!!! I cannot wait to get stuck in to this amazingly talented author's next book!!!!
Do not pick this up until you have cleared your schedules as you will not be able to put it down!!
Congratulations Michelle on an absolutely explosive debut novel!!! Welcome to my favourite author list and here's to your next success 🥂!!!
Overall an addictive, action packed thriller that will have you hooked from beginning to end!!

Maeve turned around for literally one minute and her daughter Sarah was snatched from the car and left in her place was a small business card.
In that moment Maeve knew exactly who had her baby girl, but she couldn’t tell anyone. Maeve knew that it was down to her and her alone to get her back.
In order to get Sarah back Maeve knows that she needs to go back to Ireland to confront her past as an ex con involved in organised crime. A past that she knew would one day catch up with her, however she hoped it never would.
When Maeve goes back to Ireland she places her trust in the one person she thought would have her back, however it seems there is no one she can trust and this is a task that Maeve must face alone.
I really enjoyed go seek. It was fast paced, and had me hooked right from the start. As you’d expect with an organised crime thriller there were so many twists, lies and secrets and I loved how easy it was for everyone to turn on each other with everyone wanting to be top dog in that world. Even closer to home it seems that Maeves enemies are closer than she realises.
I also loved the ending of this book the twist at the end I didn’t see coming at all and that’s always an added bonus for me. A fantastic and exciting debut novel from Michelle Teahan and I’m hoping there will be more to come from her in the future.
Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher and the author for an advance copy of this book in exchange for this review.
I was absolutely captivated by this book and found myself completely engrossed, finishing it in a single sitting. The narrative was filled with numerous twists and turns that kept me on the edge of my seat, constantly guessing what would happen next. The author skillfully woven in elements of deception, including bluffs and double bluffs, which added layers of intrigue to the story. While I predicted one or two plot twists, it didn’t diminish my overall enjoyment; instead, it enhanced the thrill as I sat on the edge of my seat, wondering how everything would resolve.
Maeve, the protagonist, is a wonderfully complex character. She’s not necessarily the most likeable individual, yet her layered personality drew me in, and I found myself unexpectedly rooting for her throughout her tumultuous journey. Her determination to protect her children at all costs is deeply relatable, and it added a profound depth to her character. It’s this fierce instinct as a mother, even when the choices she makes are morally ambiguous, that raises questions about sacrifice and the lengths one will go to for family. Overall, the combination of a gripping plot and a multi-dimensional character like Maeve made this read an unforgettable experience.
Such an exciting read, i enjoyed every moment of 'Go Seek'.
You looked away just for one minute and your child has been snatched but you know who has taken your child because of a past you decided to leave behind. Go Seek is such a exhilarating twist and turn book which shows you what a mother would do to get back her child even if it means going back to a dangerous past you wanted to leave behind.
Many of the characters have different backgrounds and problems of their own but i overall liked how each one was portrayed, some i really liked and some i didn't as much. Go seek has so much in it that you won't for one second get tired of it.. suspense, murder, action, thriller mystery and overall just so much going for it that it keeps you engaged and wanting to see what the twists and turns will turn out to be.
I was in a way expecting the ending but it was still amazing, i enjoyed every part of go seek and look forward to what Michelle Teahan brings out in the future. I would recommend to all book readers who enjoy a good suspense action read, this book is definitely for you.
Thank you to NetGalley and Headlinebooks for this arc in exchange of an honest review. 5 stars
Your daughter is gone, and only you can find her. Because you know exactly who took her. And they're making her pay for your past.
To save one child, you must leave the other. You must return to your old life. And become the woman you left behind years ago.
It's every parent's worst nightmare. Now it's your reality.
Thank you #netgalley and #MichelleTeahan for allowing me to read an advanced copy of #GoSeek! Absolutely deserves five stars!!!! Fast paced unputdownable! I absolutely love a badass woman main character. The twists I did not see coming and had me yelling at out loud at times.
Many times I really hated Mauve and her bad choices but that jaw dropping ending certainly made up for it. I look forward to reading more from Michelle Teahan
I tried. I really, really tried but at 50% way through I still wasn’t interested. This sounds exactly like my kind of thriller novel but I find myself disappointed with this book. There are just too many words and so little action. So much time spent trying to prove our main character used to be a bad-ass and can still be that person, but the plot just doesn’t move forward.
Grateful for the arc from NetGalley and the publishers but I didn’t enjoy this book at all 😔
A gripping read once I got into it with plenty of twists, and despite it being a book, there was plenty of violence which really isn’t my cup of tea! Having said that, the character was strong, could hold her own against some of the violent male characters and the plot line was interesting with several twists along the way.
Completely unbelievable! Are you really telling me a mother would not tell her husband that their baby had been kidnapped? And she suspects what has happens and who is involved but still travels hours and goes into a pub before finding her child!
All it takes is a minute! One minute and your whole world could come crashing down around you. “YOU LOOKED AWAY FOR JUST A MINUTE. Your daughter is gone, and only you can find her. Because you know exactly who took her. And they're making her pay for your past. To save one child, you must leave the other. You must return to your old life. And become the woman you left behind years ago. It's every parent's worst nightmare. Now it's your reality.“
This was a very cruel, clever, insanely dangerous amazing read. I was fully sucked in from the very first chapter. Maeve Was so many different people but one thing was true once a mom you’ll do anything to protect your family. I was so glad I got the opportunity to read this once I read the description.
Thank you NetGalley, Michelle Teahan, and Headline for allowing me to read an ARC of “Go seek” due to be published June 1, 2023.
Maeve, once part of the seedy criminal underbelly of Ireland, is now a wife and mother living in England. She got as far away from her old life as she could. But when her youngest daughter goes missing and in her place a white calling card is left, she knows who has her child. Racing towards Ireland, she has to once again become the girl she once ran away from, and she's willing to do whatever it takes to get her daughter back, and to keep the family she's built safe.
As a mother, it's always hard to read a book about a child abduction. It's one of our biggest fears. My heart was in my throat throughout most of this book just thinking about where Maeve's daughter was, who she was with, and what was happening to her. I could feel the panic Maeve was feeling as she raced from England to Ireland. I absolutely loved the fact that she became a badass boss bitch and didn't let anyone stop her doing what needed to be done. I was definitely taken by surprise with some of the twists. Each twist completely changed the story and it kept me desperate to get to the end. I would have liked there to be a little more at the end. I'd hoped that Jamie would take the Rita situation into his own hands, but I guess that's the fun of books, we can imagine our own satisfying end. This is a must read, and I can't wait to see what else this author has written.
This was gripping from the start until the very end. It has me on the edge of my seat and was utterly nail biting.
This was written so well, I thought it was so brilliantly paced, I read it in a day and didn’t want to put it down. I really liked how it switched clearly between the timelines of past and present which portrayed the story in an exhilarating way.
Just when you think you know what’s going to happen next there is an unexpected twist and the big twist at the end was jaw dropping, I could never have seen that coming.
I will definitely be picking up more by this author and I am hoping there will be a sequel.
Thank you to Headline and NetGalley for the eArc and #gifted copy in exchange for an honest review and thank you to Headline for asking me to take part in the blog tour.
This is so Taken X Line Of Duty to me. If you love that movie and that series, you’ll devour this I think. Also
THE EPILOGUE. The second book HAS to touch on that EVIL person in the hospital bed at the end (trying not to spoil hehe) and if the book was titled “HIDE”… oh that’d be so goooood!
LOVED THIS. A blind buy, which normally doesn’t go well for me, but this was right up my street. Well done, Michelle!!!! For a debut you did that! Can’t wait to read more from you!
Maeve loves her family, husband Christopher, and daughters Abbie and Sarah. Maeve’s worst nightmare becomes reality when her youngest, Sarah is taken in broad daylight. But Maeve knows who is behind this and knows she has to play the game. She sharply heads to Ireland to become the other Maeve she used to be and head for the gang lands, determined to get her daughter back. A fast paced, gritty action thriller. I liked Maeves many characters, certainly not one to mess with!
Go Seek by Michelle Teahan published July 6th with Headline and is described as ‘exhilarating and breathless, with an emotional core…a non-stop high-octane thriller. It is very hard to believe that this is a debut. It’s an absolute cracker of a read folks!
Maeve lives in Kent with her husband, Christopher, and her two small children, Abbie and Sarah. A suburban mother, Maeve is under a self-imposed pressure to be the perfect mother, the perfect wife. She finds it difficult to keep up with the local mums who appear to sail through motherhood unphased and on one particular morning her stress levels are high. Christopher is away for work and Maeve needs to be at the medical centre for a check up for baby Sarah. She is addled but eventually makes it there on time. Following the appointment, Maeve is relieved to be back to her car but, in a very unexpected turn-of-events, Sarah goes missing. Maeve is distraught and angry, but a strange calmness envelops her as she knows who has her baby.
Maeve spins a yarn to Christopher about an unwell relative and takes an urgent flight to Cork, the place she once called home. What happens next is a spiralling trip into the depths of gangland crime. Maeve had a past that she had turned her back on, one she had needed to escape for her sanity. Now Maeve feels the tentacles reaching out, only too aware that every second she wastes puts her child at risk.
Michelle Teahan takes the reader on a shocking, exciting, breathless journey into the dangerous world of organised crime and the hierarchies that exist within its structure. Maeve is a brilliantly cast protagonist. Her story will leave you truly gobsmacked. Michelle Teahan excellently builds up the intensity and the suspense, throwing the occasional firecracker into the mix to really get the heart pumping.
An unbelievable debut, Go Seek is set primarily between Cork and Dublin. For anyone who, like me, loved The Glorious Heresies by Lisa McInerney then Go Seek will be right up your street. Realistic and frightening, a missing child is the stuff of nightmares for any parent, but for someone like Maeve, it’s on a whole new petrifying level.
Michelle Teahan has done an incredible job in injecting a fresh take on the baby/child kidnapping plot. The atmosphere is charged all the way through adding a heightened sense of urgency that never, ever lets up. A really phenomenal debut, Go Seek is gritty, addictive and heart-pounding. It’s a stay-up-all-night one-sitting kind of read that you will just not be able to put down. Huge congratulations to Michelle Teahan. I have absolutely no idea where she can go after this stupendous first novel but I do know that I am a confirmed fan and am looking forward to more incredible reads from her.
I don’t remember why I requested this book as I am not a huge fan of domestic thriller, reading the blurb I think it was a sort of gut feeling and my guts were right. This is a page turner, a book that starts with a BANG and closes with an atomic explosion. There’s plenty of action, surprising twists and excitement in between This is the right book that I define an unputdownable page turner, an Irish noir with humour and a gritty undertone. Maeve, the MC, is not your everyday mother who is desperate because her child was taken. She’s a bad ass woman with a violent past who refuse to break and will do everything to get her children back. A well rounded, fleshed out and likeable character. She’s faulted, morally grey but she’s also a mama bear who will not stop at anything to have her child back. There’s a contrast between some idyllic landscape and the violence in this story as there’s a different picture of Ireland. There’s organized crime, violent and vengeful characters. All the characters are well written and you can dislike them but this cast of characters kept me turning pages and I read this book in one sitting. Another Irish lady who writes excellent thriller, can’t wait to read the next one. Highly recommended. Many thanks to Headline for this ARC, all opinions are mine

Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this eARC.
A seemingly average housewife is forced to return to her previous life in Organized crime.
Exciting and well-written, just a few things keep this from being a 5-star review... There are FAR too many hard to swallow "coincidences" and too many convolutions, which, at the end of this story, almost turn what is 75% a top-notch edgy novel into almost a "cozy" "cute" story, and it is a pity.
I feel a certain percentage of mystery writers think that. the more convoluted "plot twists" the better, however keep in mind the "suspension of disbelief" you need to maintain with your readers so they don't toss your book down as purey unbelievable fantasy or drivel.
In reality only one or two CLEVER, SLIGHT divergences (that do NOT weaken the plot) strengthen the book, it is easy to go too far and diminish an otherwise promising novel...
Until next time, keep it "real" (or at least plausibly imaginable...)
This was quite an interesting mystery/ thriller about a mother who one day after going to the doctor's with her two small children winds up having the baby stolen out of her car seat while chasing down her runaway three year old. She knows who is behind the kidnapping of her baby and only she can be the one to go find her. So back to her old life Maeve left some years ago to places and people she doesn't want to see again because it may not turn out to healthy for . her in the long run, they are very dangerous people and she use to work for them. The ending is very exciting and some things are revealed that I didn't see coming.
Maeve is a mother who will do anything for her children, and when one is taken, she must dig deep into her past and become a person she thought was long gone in order to get her daughter back.
This was such an exciting read ! This book was such a rollercoaster of twists and turns a perfect faced, paced thriller. Would highly recommend. Will definitely read anything Michelle Teahan writes in the future.
Thank you to Netgalley, Headline, and Michelle Teahan for an advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I had the audiobook read by Emir Heatley who is excellent. I love Irish narrators. The narrator certainly added to the experience for me.
This is original, definitely high octane packed with action and suspense. It’s entertaining although I wouldn’t say it’s the most realistic and it gets more of a stretch as it progresses with the directions it takes. But for pure entertainment value it’s a winner for me. Off the charts with the twists and turns I think Freida Readahs would like this.
When Maeve's young daughter goes missing, she knows exactly who has taken her and heads to Ireland to find her. This is an excellent thriller, with plenty of tension and an interesting plot. I like Maeve, she's feisty, stubborn and not one to mess with. It kept me gripped until the end and I would recommend the read.. Thanks to Net Galley for my ARC.
Copy kindly received via NetGalley for an honest review.
A very interesting read with great characters. Between the lies and secrets it was no wonder some people didn't know what the truth was. Maeve put herself through a lot to find out what the truth was. Lots of brutality and murders. An interesting ending. Would recommend.
