Hope Lancaster is a loner by choice. Born with a disturbingly morbid talent, she prefers to keep people at a distance.Until he shows up.His presence defies everything she’s ever known and sparks a curiosity she can’t ignore. When death is inevitable, how far will you go to live?
Kristin is an an indie writer from Louisiana who believes happily ever after is a must. A fan of everything romance including paranormal and the occasional mystery, she only writes what she loves. When she isn't writing she's hanging out with her crazy collection of dogs and cats and daydreaming about the next dozen stories she wants to write. As the title suggests, Hope's psychic power is , which isn't really a spoiler as it's mentioned in the first few pages. She doesn't live her life because she and just goes through the motions taking care of her alcoholic dad. Then one day, a new kid shows up at school and he has NO EXPIRATION DATE. This author tends to write stories where there are multiple couples thus splitting the stage. I wish the main couple had been more centre stage throughout, but the other couples are a big part of the intrigue. Unfortunately I found that it was all a little too convenient, so by the last 25% my suspension of disbelief was sagging woefully. But the story is tight and the ending was a surprise!
Safety is all good. No sex, but it's a given that they all have HEAs even if they still have to live in secret.
Very interesting storyline around the characters, and even though the book is short you get a sense of the personality of each character. The ending felt rushed and the book was rather anti-climatic but overall not a bad read.
Expiration Date by Kristin Coley is a wonderful story I have read. I loved reading this story and I think it would be a wonderful start to a brand new series if the author wanted to do that. I highly recommend it to everyone who wnts something origanl to read and loves readign about paranormal in their stories.

Overall, I liked the idea. The plot was intriguing and it kept me interested throughout. However, there were a couple of things that kept this from a 4 star rating for me.
1.) There were too many characters in this book for it to be a really good stand alone. I feel like the author didn't go as in depth with the characters as I'd have liked her to because of this. It starts out solely in Hope's point of view and I really thought that was how it was going to go, with Joy and Mercy as just side characters. Then BAM! All of a sudden we're reading from Joy's point of view, then Mercy's. I'm assuming it was to get a bit more depth from these characters, to make them seem less like side characters and more like they were part of the main arena. The problem is that I felt like even though it gave THEM more depth, it took away from Hope's character, which I spent most of the beginning of the book invested in. This is not to say that I didn't like these other characters. In fact, Mercy probably intrigued me more than any of the other characters, and I would have loved to get more of his story from his beginning with Kendra on through to where he meets up with Amber. I think that would have made an excellent book. I'm hoping maybe that will be something that could come later. I know this is a stand alone, but authors write stand alone novels in the same type of universe all the time. I just know I want Mercy's story. The. Whole. Thing.
2.) I got very aggravated with the whole "Us having the same expiration date, the same place of death, and the same way of dying goes against the laws of physics and coincidence..." Buuuuuut.... Amber and Brandon and all those other people were going to die from gunshot wounds at their homecoming. Same place, same time, same way of death.... Unless of course the few seconds or maybe the couple of minutes between when they each got shot and died mattered. Didn't seem like it was a big enough difference to be much different than if Mercy, Hope and Joy got shot standing in the same place at the same time... I felt like that was a bit of a stretch. Coley pulled it off with the DNA thing. But just barely for me.
All in all, it was good and worth the read.

Expiration Date is a fascinating story about Hope Lancaster, a girl who knows the exact time of everyone's death, including her own, by reading a countdown on them that only she can see. Knowing her death is coming quickly, Hope keeps her distance from other people and doesn't form close relationships. The closest anyone comes is her dad and her best friend Amber, both are also kept at a fair distance as she doesn't want to leave anyone to mourn after she's gone. Then things change when the cute new guy comes to town. Hope cannot see his expiration date and is instantly curious about him. This has never happened before. When Hope finds out seven people from her school are going to face an earlier death then they are supposed to she decides to try and stop it. With the help of the new guy, Hope successfully saves the seven people. However, when one thing leads to another Hope soon sees the consequences of preventing death and the cost that comes with it.
This is such an intense book. The characters are intense, the story is intense. I loved it! This book had me on the edge of my seat the entire time I was reading it. It is told in multiple person point of view, giving more dimension to Hope's story. There are a few quirky lines in here that didn't seem to fit but I do not feel as though the story suffered because of them. It was still well written and great to read. This book was a great idea executed wonderfully.
This is a great story that is a standalone that really has the potential for more if the author wanted to expand on what happened to the characters later. I love the multiple POV. I always think that that gives more depth to a story, it explains the other characters better and how they feel, why they react the way they do. I always respect authors who give multiple POV because it gives me a better story. This is a great idea for a story. The ultimate goal of humanity, when, how and where are we going to die is what we as a whole fear. To be able to predict even one of those, Well some people would spare no expense. Highly recommended this book. For a book that is set in high school and is supposedly YA, it's a heavy subject but beautifully written and well worth the time and money. I have several of Kristin Coley books and she does not disappointed.
I’m in the middle of chapter 21 and have to write the review now because I hate finding characters I love and know I have to say goodbye to. My dearest wish is there is an other book that is maybe a few years down the road and we find out what the character are up to. This is a book about Hope and Houston, Joy and Brandon, Mercy and Amber; and is similar in its origin as Coley’s Paranormal Detective Series. The characters are relatable but 3 also have different but distinctive paranormal talents. If you don’t mind YA books at any age, I’d definitely read this book. There is just something that Coley does with her writing that does not disappoint.
The Expiration Date by Kristin Coley is a 4 ⭐️ read. Hope is a loner, she’s shut herself off from most people as she has a big secret, she can tell when you’re going to die to the second just by looking at you, when a new boy Houston starts at school and she can’t see a date on him she is intrigued, the more she gets to know him the more she finds out about herself. When she meets his sister she realises she’s like her but different and they both have the same death date and time. This was a good story but it ended really weirdly I was hoping it was a series (which in my opinion it would’ve made a great series) but the author has said it’s a standalone.
Good idea in the beginning and then more characters were added without much development. Everyone just so happened to meet everyone and we’re related spontaneously. All the siblings found the ones they were destined to be with and fell hard within days and just could not live without them. Then everything fell into place and all lived happily ever after. I’m not buying it lol.
I’ve read a few book from Kristin Coley and they were good fast reads. However, this book had the makings of being great but too much was added mid way through and then more came after that, it just didn’t flow. As short as this book was, it dragged on and on. 🤷🏻♀️
I kinda got limitless vibes from this is that even the title of the movie? While i enjoyed the story there were things i didnt like or didnt seem realistic like their relationships and how easily they slipped into them. While the story as a whole wasnt something ive read before there were still holes for me. Im not in anyway saying i didnt enjoy the book, i did. I just felt like it lacked depth and drama and thats what i was looking forward to. I love kristen coley as an author but this book wasnt her best and left me disappointed.
Always appreciate a good book when you see one. A story well written will always leave a mark. Kristin Coley has, yet again, blessed us with another amazing story to die for -- no pun intended!
This book was more of a young adult sci-fi story filled with love, tragedy, mystery and self-discovery. Story was told in multiple POV's to satisfy the reader's curiosity and had plenty of action to keep you interested and intrigued. Great story worth reading!

I did not see the ending of this book coming which is a really rare thing for me. I read so much that predicting books endings has become easy and kind of a game for me. But this book kept me guessing! There were multiple twists that I wasn't expecting at all so I kept adapting what I thought the end would be. As the last few pages neared i thought I had it figured out but I was still surprised and I love that so much. I truly respect and admire a writer that is able to keep me guessing throughout the whole book. I will for sure recommend this book to others.
I enjoyed this story so much I want to read it again. I wasn't ready for it to end and it had a shocking ending that I wasn't expecting. Such a good book and amazing author. She never disappoints! I recommend that everyone should read this book. It kept me on my toes guessing what was going to happen throughout the whole book. This has become one of my favorites!!
This was a page-turner! I loved the characters and the premise. I also loved how multiple storylines were weaved in, moving from one character's perspective to the next, all meeting up for an exciting conclusion. I know this is a standalone, but I'd be happy to hear another story from this world is being planned. Just a thought!
This heck of a weird story, but it kept me interested. I wouldn’t call it a romance (though there were three separate stories interwoven and each had a love interest). This was more of a mystery/ suspense with a side of sweet ya insta- love. But I really did enjoy the break from the repetition of most new stories these days.
This was a great premise which became an amazing story. The twists were plentiful and the reveals were intriguing and captivating. I liked how everything was revealed over the course of the book and then those reveals became connected in a wonderfully unique way. Wonderful story.
Character dev, storylines, world... all amazing. Sucks you in and wrings you out. Definitely one to read. One of my favorite scifi/ alternate reality/ fantasy/ whatever books.
Well written an interesting story. It’s a stand alone so some things were glossed over, I do think this could be stretched out to 2 books and have a little more detail in it. I also just wish there was more but 🤷🏻♀️ it was still pretty great
I absolutely loved this story!! The characters were so awesome and fun and unique and the story was interesting and full of intrigue and excitement. I hope we will get a peek at their journey!

This was interesting and the characters had chemistry. I would stay this stayed young adult. There is multiple pov which is nice. There is a bit of a mystery and everything gets wrapped up mostly in the end.
Well that's a talent most wouldn't want. What a shame it effected her relationships and life so much. Intriguing premise, well rounded characters and a good storyline.
