Born as Simone Borowiak, the author worked several years for the German satire magazin "Titanic", his work "Frau Rettich, die Czerni und ich" has been filmed by Markus Imboden in 1998.
After a producing break and sex reassignment therapy, Borowiak reappeared in 2006 with the publication of "Alk", an autobiographical non-fiction book about alcoholism.
Look, this is not a bad book by any means, but 2025 is not the year where i push through books even though im not enjoying them. Being a med student, none of the scientific information was new to me and the way it was written simply didn’t work for me. It’s supposed to be funny and easy to understand for the lay-person and i might recommend this to someone who knows nothing about the way alcohol works but as someone who’s already learned all of this in much more complicated terms, it felt like i was being treated like a child.
