I received this book as a gift from my sister and I love it! The authors have an excellent ability to encourage and instruct. The routines are appropriate to a new mama's healing body, and I love that each pose engages the baby as well. Information is concise and well organized with a photo to accompany each pose and illustrations of the activities to do with your baby. Many routines, even those marked 'postnatal' can be too punishing to start out with. This offers the perfect gentle answer to ease back into your yoga practice.
Pretty good for involving an infant in postpartum yoga. Returning this to the library after reading up to p76, which is all that applies to 0-3months. Few photos so far with postures described mostly in words, which might be tricky if you're not familiar with yoga and trying to follow with an infant nearby.
I prefer Mother and Baby Yoga for the photos and baby-centred yoga.
As a Yoga teacher with pre/post natal training and a mother of a 3 month old I highly recommend this book. Great resource: poses for mother and baby are well explained with illustrations and the sections on physical and emotional health are relatable and kind. They’ve even included chapters on c-section and postpartum depression. The writers of this book are great, experienced teachers.
I really enjoyed this book. I used if frequently and I loved that it gave me something to DO with my son other that sit and stare. He also really enjoyed our time together following these routines. I wish the book had been spiral bound so I could just follow along the routines as I went. I also think anyone who has practiced yoga can easily start building there own practices with their baby over time, this is just a great resource for how to include baby in poses.
OK book, lots of filler. Baby not very involved, in fact most of the time the book suggests that you lay baby on mat while the mom does the yoga pose. If you are looking for baby yoga moves I suggest [Itsy Bitsy Yoga].
