In an interesting story about the marriage of Ann Kurth to her second husband, it's hard not to continually ask what the heck she was thinking staying with the guy. She's lucky she made it out alive. I'm glad I got the book for free, otherwise I would have felt like I was contributing to her stupidity.
I grabbed an old copy of this at a used bookstore long ago and just got around to reading it. Being so short, at less than 200 pages, made it readable, but it was a bit on the boring side. Ann Kurth, the author, was lacking in both sense and morals. She was the wife of a plastic surgeon who told her that he killed his first wife, and then proceeded to try to kill Ann as well. Yet she stayed and didn’t seem too bothered about any of it. She claims she was scared, but her thoughts and actions didn’t suggest that she was. Glad to be done reading it so I can move on to something more interesting.
One of the sillier "True" crime books ever written. Anyone familiar with the Joan Robinson Hill saga of Houston, Texas, quickly realizes that this "nonfiction" account of her baffling death, and her husband Dr. John Hill's subsequent murder, is a load of poorly written, overly dramatic babbling. I shelved this load of tripe under nonfiction even though it is, in fact, a false, self-serving, and juvenile recounting of a truly tragic chain of events.
Going back in time to a different kind of home town. Oil money flowed and debutants roamed the night life in Houston. Good story by Dr John Hills second wife.
