A nice summary, covering the topic widely, not only Egypt.
Even if the drawings are re-drawn photographs, it feels nice in the age of slop.
Had no idea about mummies in Canary Islands ("Guanche mummies").
Also (not mentioned in the book), it's easy to burry one in the garden in own's property in the UK, also it's a fantastic way how to make the property near unsellable and unlike in America - won't give you any tax breaks. Though, embalming your loved ones and keeping them as mummies in your living room is possible but is dearly expensive and a legal nightmare.
Finally, this and other books about mummies, published in the 1990s, mentions that Ramesses II mummy was issued with a passport when taken to Paris for treatment. This is not true, though extensive paperwork was required. In the early days of Information Age - this could be forgiven.
