The boys from Eye Spy and My Little Eye are back in this third installment about the private eye and the ghost!

Things seem to be going well for DB and Jesse for a change and then Detective Joe Donners shows up. Donners starts pressing DB for the truth about how DB always seems to be one step ahead. Compounding this is Jesse's belief that Donners wants to be more than just friends with DB.

So when Madame Yanya calls, needing DB and Jesse's services to deal with a ghost who just won't leave her alone, DB figures it's all in a strange day's work. Can DB solve the mystery, fob off the detective, and keep his love life, such as it is, from imploding right before his very eyes?

Drew Zachary is the pen-name of co-authors Chris Owen and Vic Winter.

"Born in the wilds of Canada, Drew grew up with an axe in one hand and a book in the other. Drew's love of writing is outshone only by his love of men. Lucky for him, he can combine the two.

From his father, Drew learned how to wield that axe, fix a carburetor and bake a mean can of beans using fire, gas or electricity. From his mother, he learned how to rotate the tires, turn apples into just about anything from cider to pie to a meatless lasagna, and how to swim. At twelve Drew ran away to join the circus, only to run away from it when he realized just how badly elephant poop stinks.

When Drew ran out of books to read he started writing his own and never looked back. His home is filled with books, unfinished manuscripts and his grandmother's knick knacks. His best friend is a dog named Barney and his pet fish keep him entertained for hours.

Drew writes about love because he still believes in it. Even though he's never found that special man himself, he's never given up hope. Well, never on a permanent basis, anyway."

DB and his ghost lover Jesse are coming back with another story where mystery mixes with humor. In comparison to the previous book, Something Green is a little more funny and light: DB and Jesse have finally found a way to be together also in a physical way. They are all in all a couple, and like a real couple, Jesse is starting to get jealous, since he is the "invisible" part of the relationship and he can't stake his claim on DB in a very evident way. Even if the author really never described DB or Jesse in a physical way, I believe that DB is a cute man, and now he has also an admirer, a cop that started to wonder why DB is always in time on the scene of a crime, and one that is willing to believe that is not only lucky or something illegal.

Joe, the cop, has a sad story on his past, that almost makes the reader wants for him to be happy, but in no way he can be between DB and Jesse. But despite this, Jess has to face the fact that he is incorporeal, and that he can't do things with his lover like going out for dinner or chatting in public; things that Joe can do. What I like is that the jealousy stunt is all on Jesse's side, DB never once lets his interest on Joe to become something more than friendship; even if in love with a ghost with whom he is having sex, DB is really a quite normal guy, with simple taste and desires: he accepted the fact that his soul mate is a ghost and now he is passing on, no more doubting of the decision he took; he is enjoying the moment and he doesn't question the future.

As I said the book is more funny, without any angst nor in the mystery case or in the relationship between DB and Jesse, and it's also more "physical", since DB and Jesse are having regular sex, and once they went on the weird thing of having sex with a ghost in the previous book, in this one they are only happy and content with what they have and they profit plenty of the chance. So the sex is only happy, and there is no regrets of "if" pending between them.

I am seriously in love with DB and his ghost lover, Jesse :). The two characters are plain adorable. The story is always fun and light but witty too. It's FUN to read about how DB and Jesse try to work around their relationship which is challenging since one of them is a GHOST! *lol*. I love this one because it gives Jesse a chance to be jealous, after a new character, an alive gay detective by the name of Joe is introduced (and he's checking on DB's ass, of course Jesse does not take that lightly!!). I will definitely wait for next adventure of the two unlikely couple.

So PI DB and his ghostly sidekick/lover are back. Things have improved and they are getting paying cases and actually using the ghost aspect to attract clients. At another crime scene where he seemed to know ahead of time to be there and can't explain why, a cop approaches him and subtly asks questions and lets him know he believes in paranormal stuff because his partner used to have the talent. Seems he means partner in all ways and his partner was killed and he hopes Jesse can find out if he's still around. At the same time, the ghost of the man who used to own Madam Yanya's place (the medium who helped DB and Jesse) is back and refuses to leave. He was a fence and they suspect there is something hidden in the basement, so DB sets about cleaning it up meanwhile giving clues to Joe the cop about other crimes they stumble on. Despite the fact that as a rule I dislike ghost stories, I adore Jesse and DB. DB now regularly tells him he loves him, and more and more often during sex Jesse gets solid and they can touch and kiss and their constant sniping and banter is cute and funny. Jesse is also wildly jealous because he's sure Joe is coming on to DB, but he's oblivious and says no, until forced to admit it and then has to explain to Joe who his boyfriend is. Very funny scene. A cute series for sure.

This series is among my comfort favorites for its sweetness, humor, and playful eroticism. The unsophisticated narrative style puts no barriers in the way of the genuineness of the building relationship between DB and Jesse. The result is a book that feels refreshingly honest in its treatment of the MCs and their feelings, without layers of angst, second-guessing, or intrusive plot devices to keep the characters apart.

The ghost/man intimacy continues to be masterfully handled. Whether or not Jesse can manifest corporeally, the boys touch each other in more ways than just the physical. Their banter is entertaining as always. Detective Joe Donners, introduced in this installment, adds a pleasant stirring up to the status quo of their relationship.

Entire series recommended.

This was just such a comedy *laughs*
The trials of wanting a ghost for a lover and the impossibility of skin to skin physical closeness, it was simply hilarious, really not to be taken seriously but I have to hand it to them though, they were pretty creative. Generally an okay read if you're in the mood for something both intriguing and completely silly at once~

I am usually not interested in ghosts in my stories but found that I really liked this. I didn't realize that I was reading something that was a part of the series so now I have to go back and read the other two books. I really wish it had been longer!

3.5 really

This one has more humor than the first books in the series, and I am enjoying the progression of the protagonists' relationship.

Short but entertaining. I like the characters, particularly Jesse. Has the same trans issues that plagued #2.

The 3rd in the series with a little more mystery but nothing too dark. Just a very enjoyable series.
