Creative Listening: Overcoming Fear in Life & Work

Rate this book
What does it take to overcome fear? In a word, listening. Learning to quiet fear and listen three-dimensionally-to one's own inner voice, to others, and to the enviornment-is the practice Cutler and Huntsberry call creative listening. This book tells the story of how the authors stumbled upon this discovery and how it can help people from all walks of life to live more creatively and fearlessly.

A deep look at the role of listening or paying attention learned through the practice of improvisational dance and then applied to life situations.

The definition of listening used in this book is not limited to sensory perception through the ears but is more attuned to paying attention and recognizing the information that is coming in from inner intuition amd the surrounding environment.

Without the context of the authors' Creative Listening workshops or some other form of improvisational group practice, some of the understandings of listening may appear vague and esoteric. However, as one with a background in improvisational dance, the language was clear and meaningful to me.
