Scandalous: Scandalized! / Sex Appeal

Rate this book
Lori Foster doubles the spice in this two-in-one treat…

Scandalized!

Can passion challenge cool, levelheaded reason? Knee-melting kisses spark more than hotelier Tony Austin or boutique owner Olivia Anderson ever planned. He wanted an heir, not a wife. She wanted a no-strings affair…and delicious memories. Scandalous? Perhaps. And it was all going perfectly—until love got in the way.

Sex Appeal

Shadow Callahan sizes up sexy, successful Brent Bramwell as perfect hunk material, ideal for her shopping mall's contest. But take-charge Brent is much more interested in gorgeous, irrepressible Shadow, whose Sex Appeal shop and its, uh, eclectic merchandise make this in-control guy realize he's been missing out. He's got a wild side. And Shadow makes him want to misbehave….

I loved this love story! Olivia has lingerie shops in Tony’s hotels. His biological clock is ticking & he propositions her into having his baby, with no attachments,or so he thinks! Unbeknownst to him,Olivia hides the fact that she can’t have children,or so she thinks! She agrees, with stipulations. She doesn’t want this done artificially, she wants to do “things naturally”. She wants 2 weeks of a “wild, hot, never to be forgotten affair”. If I conceive, the baby will become yours. If I don’t conceive, you can find a another woman. His brother has them babysit his 3 kids & Olivia bonds with the kids. Well, shocking she becomes pregnant & doesn’t want to hand over her baby. After a rocky few weeks, they meet up & figure out they’re madly in love with each other ;)

Collects two short works by Lori Foster that both star lady lingerie entrepreneurs and the handsome millionaires who own their leases. The first one in the collection, whose exact title escapes me but probably had "scandal" somewhere in it, had the old classic "let's treat baby-making as a business proposition" as its premise. The second one had a half-heartedly developed stalker plot.

I like Lori Foster, though. She's like Linda Howard lite.

This was a 2-in-1 by Lori Foster. Really enjoyed the first story, Scandalized, didn't care for the second story, Sex Appeal all that much........The heroine was too flighty in my opinion.

It's been awhile since I read a Harlequin book. And I didn't realize how old these books were. Just the fact that cellphones were not a thing get was something that I need to get used to again. It felt like a reminder from before.

Anyway, let's talk about the book. There are two books included and both were written by Lori Foster. I honestly really liked Scandalized more than Sex Appeal. I read Scandalized in just one day while Sex Appeal took me a few days to finish.

Scandalized has that fake dating romance troupe but they want a child out of it. I thought it was so cute the way they started falling in love. And I didn't expect it to be so heartbreaking in some parts. But yeah, this book was so exciting on what might happen next to the couple.

For Sex Appeal, I think the story in general was really good. But I think there was too much drama that was included. Too many characters that I felt like weren't very necessary. They also have so much angst that's hiding so much love that it's so great. The groveling was something else too.

If I were to give stars to the two stories, I would give Scandalized five stars, but I would give three stars to Sex Appeal. So the whole thing gets four Stars.

Scandalized by Lori Foster
Tony Austin and Olivia Anderson make an arrangement to get them both what they want—Tony wants a baby, but not the entanglement of a wife, and Olivia wants to the be object of desire without the complications of a relationship.

Olivia’s incomplete understanding of her fertility leads to a bit of deception and then frustration, before these two sort out their concerns with the benefit and urging of their friends and Tony’s warmly boisterous family.

Sex Appeal by Lori Foster
Shadow Callahan is the lovely and self-assured owner of Sex Appeal, a purveyor of fun, flirty items for the romance-inclined. Brent Bramwell loses his footing in front of her shop, and in the course of a few weeks, loses his heart to its proprietor.

These two are some of Ms Foster’s earlier titles, and so do show their age a bit in the more caveman-like attitudes of the heroes, but are generally still entertaining reads.

Two books. The first, Scandalized, was pretty good. The plot was a little odd and I felt it only worked because of the time it was written, 1997.
Very creative and interesting. Not the greatest love fest though.
The second book, Sex Appeal, wasn’t so appealing! I read to around 50% and started skimming. The couple was EXTREMELY annoying! All they did was fight and it wasn’t sexy banter either! Neither could communicate or back down. They cut off each other’s words and jumped to conclusions. Ugh!!!

I liked the first story better than the second. I didn't like Shadow's character at all. I found her too quick to get offended. Second story was a struggle to get through. Didn't get the point, lol.

Aku menikmati kedua ceritanya. Karakter prianya juga sweet :P

It was really a pleasure reading this book. The excitement of the story never wavered from chapter to chapter.

I liked the character of Tony Austin very much. He was the kind of man who knew what he wanted when he sees it. And he wanted something from Olivia Andersen and he meant to get it. All throughout the story, he made sure their liaison was nothing more than a business relationship and could never get any personal. He’s known Olivia since she became his business associate and had always thought she were appealing and sexy. He has always admired her astuteness in business, the reason why he always referred to her as a corporate shark! What made him so endearing was when he started to enjoy their time together. When he realized that he wanted Olivia for reasons beyond business, he never felt annoyed but rather felt good about it.

Olivia Andersen’s character on the other hand, had always admired Tony Austin from afar. Because he’d never shown her an interest other than on a purely professional level, she was really flabbergasted when he made her a proposition. Instead of refusing the rather unconventional business proposal, she seized the opportunity to get what she wanted from Tony ever since she met him. It was an alternative to what he had in mind and no way would he ever refuse! That’s when true sizzling fun begun!

These two characters never bargain two things in the process when they indulged in their rather eccentric business relationship… LOVE and Tony’s meddling FAMILY!

Not only was the storyline great but it’s also humorous. I found myself laughing a lot when I started reading it. Keep it up Lori!

Scandalized!
Tony Austin is ready to have a child. He doesn't want to get married, he just wants a woman to bear his child and then go away. And he thinks he's found the perfect woman, Olivia Anderson. She's not super-attractive, but she's smart and ambitious and she needs his loan. Having his child is not a condition of the loan (thank you, Baby Jesus) and he makes that clear to Olivia.
Olivia's interested in the proposition. But she wants to do it the old fashioned way... with some strings attached. It's only two weeks and nobody gets attached . But what happens when they both start to think past the short-term?
Sex Appeal
Shadow
Brent Bramwell is fleeing from his Chicago fiancee and is now in Ohio checking on some of his investments. One of them includes a building where Shadow Callahan has her shop. It's the sort of risque shop that is fairly common now but would have been a little more outre when the book was written. She's running a contest for the most attractive man and thinks that Brent is perfect.
They're getting to know each other while fending off a stalker who may be one of the other contestants.
A fun little story and a quick read. Not fully developed and has a story line that is not one of my favorites but it's good.

Scandalized!

The first in this two-fer tells the story of hotelier Tony Austin, who wants a child of his own, and boutique owner Olivia Anderson, the woman whose womb he has chosen to help him fulfill this dream.

Sadly, the plot was just as silly as it sounds. It was hard to respect Tony and Olivia - especially Olivia, in her dishonesty - and it was also hard to believe in their passion and love, particularly when he was so clinical about her when he selected her for the endeavor. It's okay for a light read, but the plot, the writing, and the characters are all just so-so.

Sex Appeal

Sparks fly when Shadow Callahan and Brent Bramwell meet in front of her risqué boutique Sex Appeal, but a stalker throws a wrench into the works.

Sex Appeal's plot, characters, and writing were all a small step above those of Scandalized!, but still nothing amazing. The characters were okay, although Brent was a jerk sometimes - like when he refused to believe Shadow actually had accidentally crashed in front of his house and was not just making up an excuse to see him. His parents were handled somewhat sloppily (his mom's a disapproving snob - oh, wait, she's changed her mind suddenly) as was the stalker, whose story line didn't fit in very well and was wrapped up too abruptly and conveniently.

All in all, Scandalous was a light, somewhat amusing read, but not as enjoyable as it should have been.

Contemporary novellas. The 1st was published 1997, the 2nd 2001. My copy is from 2009.

Scandalized - 4 stars. Yes, it's kind of cheesy, but this is a LF & you sometimes have to give your brain a rest. Unprotected sex, because she's trying to have his baby. There is I believe a discussion about their sexual health before.
Tony wants a baby, but not a wife. He thinks Olivia would be perfect.
Olivia thinks she's sterile, but doesn't tell Tony. She accepts no money from him & thinks she just wants hot sex. For 2 weeks. Which should light up some flags for Tony, cause really 2 weeks to conceive? I think 2 months would be more realistic.
Anyway, you know they fall in love & it all turns out well in the end.
That really isn't a spoiler.

Sex Appeal - 4 stars. Protected sex, except for 1 time (so there can be a baby scare). Shadow has to be the most original heroine name EVER! She's quirky & fun & literally, Brent falls for her. There's a side plot about stalkers.
I really liked both these stories!

The first story is classic Lori Foster. A little crazy but great characters: http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/15...

Had a hard time with the characters of the second story made me cringe. I had a hard time getting through the story because the hero was so removed and the heroine was hot then cold then hot then cold with the smallest transition possible. It was frustrating. BUT this is what you get with Lori Foster. She writes distinctly different characters for each story. Some of them I love. Others I am am indifferent about. After this story, I now know there are some lori foster characters that I don't care for at all. http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/76...

Scandalous includes two stories: Scandalized! and Sex Appeal. Scandalized! is the story of Tony, successful owner of a chain of hotels, who feels his biological clock is ticking and it's time he had a baby in his life. But Tony doesn't want a wife too, just a recipient of his sperm donation. Livvy just wants Tony, and volunteers for the job. There's more to their story, but it's fun to get there. Sex Appeal is a classic opposites-attract story, with a little bit of danger tossed in to flesh out the story. Both are excellent rainy day reads with lots of flirty fun and great sex (but not too erotic).

This book contains two different stories. Overall I enjoyed both these stories, however I did enjoy Scandalized better than Sex Appeal. There were just moments in Sex Appeal that Shadow and and Brent seemed repetitive to me.

I picked up this book after reading other stories by Lori Foster and enjoying her stories, writing, and characters so much that I couldn't wait to devour more by here, and I wasn't disappointed. Lori delivered two more amazing stories in this book. Like in previous reviews, I would definitely recommend this book and also Lori Foster as an author. She is an amazing author-check her out!

Okay...I have found a LF book that I did not like. I think these were written for Harlequin (which I hate) so I think that is why they were so bad. The first one was so ridiculous that I almost quit reading it. The second part, I liked the girl, but it was kind of pointless and I was totally able to put it down with only 10 pages left. Not a good sign. Not a big fan of the short romance stories....

Both stories in this book were believable, incredibly sexy and mysterious. They both featured strong, independent women who had their own businesses and weren't afraid of hard work. Each of them had a dark threat looming in the background as well. In each story comes along a tall, successful (and not to forget gorgeous) specimen of sensual man. Attraction, curiosity and eventually lust abounds! Want to know what happens next? Go get the book. What are you waiting for?

I'd say maybe 3.5 The characters were fun in the beginning but they started to grate on my nerves after a bit. They weren't strong and kinda repetitive and just not my favorite. However, sex scenes with Foster are always hot. I just was looking for characters that progressed to be a bit better over the course of the stories so it was less repetitive.

I enjoyed the first book scaldalized. It kept me reading. The second one Sex Appeal was not her finest work. Would read the first one again, not the second. The story was half hearted and not fully developed. But I guess all good authors have their missteps.

I really enjoyed this story. Simple and fast read, heartfelt story in a different kind of way. The man wants the baby this time! I usually don't care much for the "family" stories, but this was a sweet story. I enjoyed it! Love Lori Foster!

I GOT THIS BOOK FOR FREE...AN AUTOGRAPH COPY. SO I FIGURED TO READ IT AND I REALLY ENJOYED IT. I REALLY WISHED THE 2 STORIES WERE LONGER AND FOLLOWED THE CHARACTERS MORE IN THEIR FUTURE. IT WAS THE FIRST BOOK I READ FROM LORI FOSTER AND I WOULD READ ANOTHER.

I really liked the first book! The second one, not so much. The issues I had were purely with the heroine. She was extremely mood and kept changing her mind back and forth. It's a wonder the hero stuck around! Her indecisiveness drove me nuts!

Both stories were okay. I liked the characters. It just didn't have the appeal for me that her other works do. I felt that the second story, especially with its reliance on corded phones to move the plot, aged poorly as a contemporary piece.
