Judd Sanders couldn't believe it when the beautiful, wide-eyed woman he rescued from some drunk hoodlums started poking her gorgeous little nose into his business. She was obviously a menace to herself—not to mention to his libido. Worse, she'd blow his cover. For little did Emily Cooper know that Judd was really a cop—whose cover left him a little too "uncovered" for his liking….
Regina Foxworth has no clue why an unknown assailant is out to get a small-town reporter like her. Or why the police won't take her concerns seriously. So Regina gets a guard dog—make that a four-pound "guard" Chihuahua!—and signs up for self-defense classes. But defending herself is the last thing on her mind when sexy instructor Riley Moore has her pinned to the mat.

I wanted to love this since i usually love the writings of Lori Foster, but the first book just put me off. The couple had nill in interest, talked about things that you just don´t tell a person you don´t know in the first hours that you meet. What made me stop reading, though, was when they sat down in his car, and he´s got a scrap of black lace draped around his mirror. The panties from the first time with his girlfriend at 18. And Emily´s first thought is "how could he know what i´m wearing?" That´s when i decided that i might read this another time, but skip the first book and go right to the last one. But it will take me a while.
I enjoyed this book. Two stories in one book. I really enjoyed the first story, Outrageous. Loved Judd, a cop working undercover as a male stripper. Emily fist appeared to be a prim and proper woman but she was more than met the eye. Lots of hot action in this one.
I enjoyed Riley but not as much as Outrageous. I liked Regina's character but not so impressed with Riley, the male character at the beginning. Liked his character more towards the end though.
not sure why this is linked to Riley?? mine the one i read was not??! this grouping i read these 3:
(as i always say ...when i rank these books it is not something that i am disrespecting the others or whatnot, just that i am deciding to rank them in my rankings, nothing more. i am using my local library leaning program, so that is through my kindle FIRE, i did notice another Lori Foster author on Goodreads, not sure why that happened?? i wonder why there is 2 different authors, who adds these books and author ... weird??!) Trace of Fever Bodyguard - Lori Foster Back to Buckhorn
First story Outrageous was really good. I loved it! Second story Riley I found boring. Actually skimmed it. Regina character was a bit much for someone 28.
I don’t think I can really give this a rating considering one story was published before my existence and the other when I was five years old but it was a fun waste of time
Outrageous - 2/5 - So Judd is an undercover cop working as a stripper, trying to bust a gun dealer. Emily is masquerading around town trying to uncover the same gun dealer because he sold a gun that almost killed her brother. After rescuing her from some drunks while she's masquerading, Judd decides he can't risk her as a loose cannon, or she might compromise his investigation. So he brings her into it, sort of. She doesn't know he's a cop. But there's an attraction between them that might mess everything up.
And this book frustrated me beyond belief because of the characters. Emily is naive and honestly TSTL. Her naivety is really irritating, not endearing. And her stupidity is just frustrating. What idiot would go wandering around a seedy part of town trying to capture a gun dealer all by herself? And some of her actions are completely lacking thought One of the arguments throughout the story is that Judd keeps trying to protect her from herself and others and she keeps yelling that she can take care of herself. Only I don't believe she can. And I would admire a heroine who knows her limits much more than one who blows hot air. Judd is no less endearing. He's gruff and fits quite well into the seedier parts of town. And he's also an ass. He lies to her, he uses her (and he manipulates her) and he insults her constantly. At one point he thinks, he doesn't want anyone to humiliate or harass her, except himself of course. He considers her a menace (and she kind of is) and does everything he can to keep her blind to what he's doing, in the name of protecting her of course. He's bossy and if I'm not mistaken by the description, he has a mullet, so I can't take him seriously. Mostly it was the heroine's idiocy though that made me dislike the book.
And the romance was a bit ridiculous. Nothing but lust, with a bit of insta-love on the part of the heroine and an unreasonable need to be possessive and protective on the part of the hero's. I'm not sure they loved each other, since they barely knew each other. It took her less than 2 days to realize she loved him, after she'd just spent the entire day being ignored and lied to.
Riley - 2/5 - Fortunately, I did the novella that starts off this little series, so I wasn't completely lost. Regina is the reporter that Rosie befriended in the first story and she has been "claimed" by Riley, an Ex-Swat, CSI Technician with a self-defense gym. Regina (or Red) believes she's being stalked and is in danger and Riley is the only person to believe her. He's one of the American Heroes that this series is about. Apparently Hero equates to Macho Chauvinist (he's charming at least). He tells her he's going to be with her and that she better get used to him being around a lot then he pushes the sexual aspect on her. He promises not to push and swears he'll give her plenty of time and then they have sex a day later, because he can't wait any more. (She's not pressured by any means, but her hesitancy and then gung-ho attitude was a little unbelievable). He's pretty bossy in his protection of her and he gets growly and angry because she's sometimes so naive it's unbearable. She's basically a bimbo and he's standing in front of her all the time to keep all the baddies away - because given my understanding of her she wouldn't survive other wise. It didn't piss me off, but I could not stop rolling my eyes at these two.

2 contemporary novellas, with protected sex. The first is copyrighted 1997. the second 2003.
Outrageous is 3 stars. - Emily wants to find the illegal gun dealer who sold her brother a defective gun that exploded in his face. Judd wants to find the same guy. His father figure was shot & killed by him. Judd is from the wrong side of the tracks. Now, he's an undercover cop. Emily is from a privileged background, but is more down to earth. Sometimes, she's TSTL. Enjoyable brain candy.
Riley is 4 stars - I enjoyed this one more than the first. Regina is another slender beauty. Prim & proper, yet scatterbrained. Riley is of course an alpha hero. Strong, handsome, great bod. He has to protect Regina from an unknown menace. More brain candy, the villain is not who you think. Everything is all tied up by the end & our H/h get their HEA. This story also gives you the lesson that even Chihuahua dogs in purses can make good guard dogs!
1st story which was called Outrageous was pretty good i liked Judd he was cool but Emily was kinda uptight for most of the book , i still enjoyed this story and i give it 3 stars.
2nd story which was called Riley was so awesome i loved this one , Riley sounds so hot and he is just an all around good guy & Regina was pretty funny and i just loved her & Riley together they are perfect for each other , i did wish that it could have been longer. i also loved the other characters in the book Harris & Buck they were so funny . overall i give this story 4 stars .
OUTRAGEOUS: 2 stars: It was OK but didn't really hold my interest. It seems to have a bunch of minor characters/story lines that were undeveloped. It was only a novella but still why throw them in if they aren't really helping move the story along
RILEY: 2 Stars: This was apparently a sequel but you didn't really have to have read the first one to read this one. I figured out who was stalking Regina right away and honestly she was kind of a naive twit which didn't endear her to me at all.
I don't even know why I forced myself to finish this book. Both stories in it were dramatically-cheesy to the point of ridiculousness. Foster made an attempt at strong female characters but failed miserably. The "romances" in this book went way too quickly and ended in something that came about way too quickly. The relationships weren't believable. Basically, this book is a cheesy escape for 40 year old single cat ladies.
Two seperate stories by Lori Foster, both with some mystery and lots of romance. Liked the second one, Riley, better, with the Chihuahua "Guard" dog adding humour, and the secondary characters great support to the hero. Ms Foster has maintained her wonderful ability to write sexy reads, with strong heros I want to find and take home with me.
I'm not sure if it was the way the characters were written or the writing itself but I found it overall very immature. The characters were borderline whiny and annoying. The book had 2 different stories in it and I barely got thru the first one so didn't even try to read the second.
Two stories in one. Outrageous and Riley. I liked Riley better than Outrageous. Both were your typical romance novels. Pretty short 8-10 chapters each. I wouldn't say OMG you have to read this, but if you've got nothing else you're dieing to read, go for it.
This was great...Lori Foster is one of my go-to's when I just need a good read. She always delivers. Like able characters you can relate to, hot men, steamy scenes, great storylines that keep you flipping...she hits all the marks in this one like in all others I've read by her
Two good stories. Typical Lori Foster books. If you like Lori's writing, don't miss these. If you're new to Lori Foster, these are very typical of her style.
This was a decent read. Some of the dialogue was cheesy and it was very light, even for Lori Foster. I enjoyed it, but definitely not enough to keep it!
