Amber Kell has made a career out of daydreaming. It has been a lifelong habit she practices diligently as shown by her complete lack of focus on anything not related to her fantasy world building.
When she told her husband what she wanted to do with her life he told her to go have fun.
During those seconds she isn't writing she remembers she has children who humor her with games of 'what if' and let her drag them to foreign lands to gather inspiration. Her youngest confided in her that he wants to write because he longs for a website and an author name—two things apparently necessary to be a proper writer.
Despite her husband's insistence she doesn't drink enough to be a true literary genius she continues to spin stories of people falling happily in love and staying that way.
She is thwarted during the day by a traffic jam of cats on the stairway and a puppy who insists on walks, but she bravely perseveres..
A very short story. The conclusion to the three part story. It was satisfying. I don't know why I get sucked into all of these. They are fun stories, but they are not that good and the editing, while better, is still lacking, yet I buy them and fall into the series each time. I think she puts MSG in her stories. LOL
Third and final review: This really was a very good story with a unique and interesting plot. The author used a lot of imagination in coming up with the details around each of the characters, their interactions, the scenery, and their world in general. I was a bit surprised at the descriptive violence when Luc made his annual trip back "home", but it was key to the storyline. Ultimately, true love has a way of making itself known and coming out the victor despite the complex set of interrelationships in the book.
As with the prior books, some editing could have made this a far better read. In fact, in this installment, the biggest of editing sins was committed - messing up one of the main character's names (Bran became Bram)! None of these books can be read as a standalone and I was slightly annoyed by that fact. I love sequels and the continuation of a story; however, as I mentioned in the first review, this was really one book that got chopped into three convenient segments and sold separately.
All issues aside, I did enjoy the story and especially Luc's character. Hell (oops), I also enjoyed all the quirky humor (ex: Luc's name - Lucifer Hellbourne, son of the devil himself:) that made me smile. Gotta appreciate that!!
This is the third and final book in the series. Luc goes to hell where his brothers try to break him. In a rather complicated turn the werewolf he thought tried to kill him was enchanted but it was all part of a plan by an angel. Its turns out his were mate Bran is meant to be his mate in this life and Nikkolai should be in another lifetime. He ends ups winning the battle and freeing some angels who attacks his father and kills 3 of his brothers. He then goes back to earth with Bran and his one remaining brother who is now in love with the other were. Kind of complicated but kind of wrapped up in a ribbon with the vampire agreeing to wait until its his turn to be the mate. I like some of the humor and snarkiness and thought Luc was very funny.
Grrr! Darn edit scars!! Blech! Oh, not the story...that's as yummy as the first two installments...but if you don't own this yet, wait for the newly revised, re-edited version to come out with TEB in May. The story and characters are already as delightful as I have come to expect from Amber Kell, and with a little TEB polish? This little gem will be bundled up with it's two predecessors and shined to perfection!!
You have your vampires, your werewolves, your fey and even demons in this book. This book has an interesting mix of characters without being too overwhelming to the point where you say: This is too much. But this book wasn't too much in my opinion. This story offered a smooth easy flow and even though some events seemed predictable it was never dull.
I was kind of disappointed in the ending of this series. I guess I just expected something different. *shrugs* It was okay, but I think it could have been better. And longer...it was *very* short.
Still so many spelling mistakes and other editorial issues. I gotta say they are quite annoying after some time. Mixed names pisses me off too. I also didn't particularly like the ending. It was kind of sad.
