Her home is being destroyed. Her friends killed. Her freedom taken away. Escape from the man or alien responsible is the only choice she has but deep down, it’s the last thing Mikayla truly wants and she hates herself for it. Falling in love with her captor is not an option, despite how seductive he is. He might get her body, but she refuses to give him what he truly wanted…her soul.
How the hell has Sidious been talked into this and more importantly, how the hell is he going to get out of it?
The last thing he needs while working as a mole for the rebel forces is another complication, no matter how enticing a package. But the second Mikayla opens her sarcastic mouth, he can’t resist putting her in her place. Seducing her's going be the most fun he’s had in years. Unfortunately, someone is onto his secret and time is running out…for both Sidious and his captive.

Entwined Fates: Captive by Trista Ann Michaels Futuristic Romance e-book- April 28th, 2009 5 stars
I love futuristic romances. And this is a delicious tale that is sure to satisfy anyone’s palate. Trista Ann Michaels slowly and expertly brings the reader into a new world full of: intrigue, betrayal and deception. In addition, to the fantastic world building she takes the time for the reader to really understand and love her characters.
Imagine Earth is being invaded by aliens. Mikayla is on the run with her friend to find her mother. On the way she is abducted by human-like aliens who sweep her off to a spaceship. There Mikayla is forced to work as a bar maid in skin tight clothes as ‘eye candy’ for the men on the spaceship. Resentful and afraid Mikayla is nonetheless courageous as she tries to find independence and a way to escape. Unfortunately, she catches the attention of the 3rd in command to the invasion, Captain Sidious.. Sidious is the most attractive man Mikayla has ever seen and she can’t help her body’s response to him. She is torn by her feelings, as their tumultuous relationship progresses. How can she be attracted to a man whose hands are filled with the blood of her people? Mikayla knows she must fight any feeling she has for him.. He is the enemy…
Sidious is exhausted. He is actually a spy for the rebels. But the acts he has committed to ‘prove’ his loyalty to the Prime Minister have haunted and aged him. Sidious abhors his actions but tries to remember that eventually his sacrifices will be responsible for taking down the Prime Minister and his reign of domination. However, the invasion of peaceful planet, Earth, and the lovely woman from that planet tests his resolve. He knows he must continue his façade even if the woman he loves despises him. The Prime Minister must be stopped and Sidious’s cover is key to the rebellion. Sidious knows his feelings for Mikayla must come second. Yet Sidious can’t stay away from Mikayla even as he knows it puts her life in danger.
This was a fabulous novel from start to end. I was immediately drawn to the characters and the storyline. It reminded me of a great space opera with very sensual love scenes. The author does not insult the reader with trite or simplistic storylines. Even though the story is a futuristic it felt very realistic. I can only hope this author will continue the series?! Sidious’s brothers Stefan and Taron are equally fascinating.
My favorite part of this story were the strong characters. I fell in love with the hero Sidious and wished he were real. Sidious is an extremely noble and self-sacrificing character that is ALL man ladies! He was one of the best heroes I’ve read in a long time. Mikayla is a fun and feisty heroine. I was fascinated by her struggle to reconcile her attraction to Sidious and her beliefs. This was an exciting story that transported me into a new world that I found exhilarating and mesmerizing. Trista Ann Michaels has made a new fan!

I am going to start with a warning: do not read this in public! Holy hotness...the sex scenes in this book made me blush, and I am not a prude. I took a chance on this book-a GR friend marked it to read and the cover caught my eye. I was pleasantly surprised with this story, the character descriptions were great, the action (not just the sexy time) was good. Lemme tell ya what, I wouldn't complain if hot sexy aliens kidnapped me! :) A nice break from my usual reads where authors skip over the good stuff
Even though I wasn’t in love with this book I did enjoy it. This is one of those books that you can’t necessarily put your finger on why you didn’t love it because there was nothing that stood out that was horrible.
I liked the plot for this book especially since I haven’t read another alien book that was similar to this one. A lot of these alien books that I love all kind of have the same plot line, which is fine, but it’s nice to have read something totally new. My only complaint about the plot in this book is that I wish there was more action and drama and less sex. Don’t get me wrong the scenes were steamy but there were so many of them that towards the end I was just flipping through them. Those two couldn’t get enough of each other. It sometimes felt like it was one sex scene after another.
Especially when she would talk about hating herself for sleeping with him or having feelings for him because she felt like a traitor to her people but the second he lays a finger on her she’s all over him. Like come on. Sometimes I just have to roll my eyes because yeah he might be hot and whatnot but if you really hated yourself over what you’re doing then you can easily just resist. It was like she was under a sex spell.
In some parts it did seem a bit slow because there wasn’t a lot of action and drama. I love books that have unexpected twists and turns because it just adds to the excitement. This book didn’t have that unfortunately, everything was pretty much expected and you could foresee just about everything.
However, I did like the main characters in this book. In the beginning I was a bit wary of Mikayla just because she was kidnapped from Earth and basically became a slave but she wasn’t freaking out all that much she accepted her situation really fast. So I was like… Also when Sidious and Mikayla were first alone with each other I was also kind of hesitant about his character but in the end I ended up falling in love with him.
Overall, this book was pretty good albeit the lack of action in the middle of the book. This alien book stood out from others because the plot was different than what I’m used to reading which intrigued me to keep reading. Also, if you’re into aliens that look and act basically human than you’d love this book. I’d probably give this book a good 3.5 stars out of 5
I generally enjoy Sci-Fi erotica, and while I liked "Captive," it just seemed rather flat, which is why I'm only going with 3 stars.
Although Sidious and Mikayla were fairly hot together, that girl is one cool customer.... She's kidnapped by aliens who are preparing the destruction of Earth and transported to their space ship -- when she attempts an escape and encounters Sidious, she can't get over how gorgeous he is. I guess I would have other things on my mind.
Later that evening, when she's delivered to his cabin, we find out that Earth Girls Are Easy!!!!
The suspense elements in the story are good, and you do want to keep reading to find out if Sidious is able to carry off his deception. However, if it wasn't for the setting, you'd never know that there were aliens in this story -- the 'science fiction' just isn't really there.
This is a great introduction to a new series. There is lots of political intrigue, spies, and rebels fighting for a cause. There is also a lot of action as well as a lot of witty dialogue and interaction between all the main characters. This is a well thought out story and universe and will make you want to get the next book to see what happens to the rest of the secondary characters.
When aliens invade Earth, Mikayla and her friend pack up and start the trip from Tennessee to her mother's house in Florida. Mikayla never makes it though. Along the way she ends up getting abducted by the aliens and forced to work in a bar on their ship. Sidious, the gorgeous alien Captain, stirs feelings in her she doesn't want but can't deny. Sidious is working as a Captain in the militia that is taking over planet after planet. He is actually a double agent really working for the rebel forces who want to take down the militia. Already under a tremendous amount of stress the last thing he needs is to be worrying about the pretty human woman but he just can't stay away from her. Falling in love and finding happiness in the middle of a rebellion won't be easy but it will be worth it. A really great book and a hot read.
This was a very well written story. It had just enough humor to off set the serious tones of the book. This was totally believe able in an unbelievable world. Thank you for my escape from reality. Can't wait to see more books in the future. I read this in one sitting it was that captivating.
While her home is being destroyed Mikayla is being kidnapped. Now being controlled by an alien she is slowly falling in love with was not in the original plan.
Plain and simple: Not liking the whole basically kidnap and rape part. "I'm going to make her like it" just doesn't work for me.
This one just didn't do it for me. The plot almost put me to sleep and I was annoyed by the constant "snark" not even a fourth of the way in. I wasn't even a fan of any of the characters and it was all just very bleh for me.
WORDS. CAN NOT. DESCRIBE. HOW BAD. THIS BOOK. IS!!!!!
But I’m gonna give it a try.
Smut smut smut smut. There was nothing but smut. Like 4 pages story and 20 pages smut. Characters fell for each other out of nowhere and there was NO character development. Having your main characters fuck like bunnies while recycling the same sex scene over and over and over again (because either you’re too lazy, or you don’t know how to write) doesn’t equal characters falling in love!!!!! Like a every time they fuck it’s the same thing (The author LITERALLY uses the same dialogue word for word) but noooooo we’re supposed to be stupid enough to believe the whole “even though he’s made love to her countless times (if you call it ‘making love’) he’s never made her feel this way before”. WHEN HE DID ABSOLUTELY NOTHING DIFFERENT!!!!!
Makayla was so mixed signal shitty that I just wanted to punch her in the face and then curb-stomp her. God she literally acts like a hoe (for no reason)and then has the audacity to act like she has standards. God I hated her!!! She’s all IM a moral person and I hate you for killing humans, but then turns around as screws him because ‘her body betrayed her’. It’s totally not cause he’s supers sexy or anything. And even goes as far as to tell him she doesn’t want to sleep with him WHILE she’s telling him to fuck her harder
Sideous was so one dimensional that at best I didn’t like him and at worse I hated him. There was nothing I could give this guy credit for. NOTHING!!!
This book was literally the worst book I’ve read since I could remember!! So bad that if I could give it a negative review I would! It’s books like theses that give romance books a bad rep. I honestly hope to god this series doesn’t get anymore readers. I wouldn’t wish this brain torture on my worst enemy!!!
Ahh, capture fantasy at its finest. I think we all know how I feel about capture fantasy…when it’s done right, that is. Hint: I’d rather read a great capture fantasy story than eat chocolate. *cue gasps and shocked murmurs* This one definitely hit the nail on the head (I could go without chocolate if I have more books like this). There was lots of super fun banter, a feisty heroine, an alpha hero well versed in seduction–caring and generous, yet unyielding and demanding obedience–and seriously hot D/s sex. The story had some action as well, so all around there was a little bit of everything. I highly recommend this for anyone who enjoys capture fantasy, science fiction, and dubious consent.
Alien's come to invade/take command of earth. After there demand for surrender was ignored and they started to invade Mikayla is taken captive and put to work in a bar on the 'mothership'. However not is all as it seems with the alien's that Mikayla meets, while some agree with their orders, others just follow them and then there are those who plot against those in charge in hopes of putting an end to the invasion(s).
So there is a lot going on in this book, invasions, murder, subtrafuge and then there is Mikayla and Sidious falling in love. I liked Sidious though at times you want to yell at him. More than that Mikayla was just... err! She's smart but she doesn't really stop and take time to think things through, if she just shut her mouth for one moment and stopped herself from jumping to conclusion everything would have been so much easier!
Awww...this book is MUY ROMANTICA!!!! I absolutely LOVED the romance between Sidious and Mikhala. And the sex scenes...ay carumba. This book was really a great futuristic alien romance...and the setting of the backdrop plot and the history of the aliens and everything was done in a way that you weren't like, "ok, WHAT just happened there?" It's a very gentle transition and everything is explained so well. I really liked it a LOT...fans of Trista Ann Michaels will enjoy this as well as fans of the Brides of The Kindred series...can't wait to read more of this series!
This reminded me at times of Close Liaisons in that Mikayla' s feeling were torn for her H. He kidnapped he and played a huge part in the destruction of her race. All the while she is in relative comfort, others suffer. It was an interesting read. Im going to read the second book to see if I want to continue the series.
Far better than I had expected. I was hoping for a decent, erotic sci-fi and this book more than delivered. The storyline was actually very engrossing and exciting; I really like this author's writing style. This book had great erotic sex scene that was very romantic as well. Highly recommend and just bought the next book in series.
I enjoyed the book very much. The world building was fascinating. Sid was a great character, the way he did what he had to do (terrible things) in order to bring about the rebel plan. I will definitely be reading more in the series.
This book didn't really hold my interest until after the h was delivered the the H's room for sex. Once sex was introduced the book was better but only as far as it dealt with their romance. The side stories were just okay.
Great read! Not my typical genre however "Captive" was fast paced with plenty of hot sexual encounters. I enjoyed the MC's and all of the secondary characters and look forward to reading the remainder of the series.
Really enjoyed this story although I am not too fond of the kidnapped and seduced against her will start. The hot sex was off the charts and the story was just very well written and thought out. Looking forward to reading more from this author.
This was a very good beginning to a series. Lots of spying, fighting and romance and some very naughty lovin with a strawberry. This book will appeal to the alpha male lover and the sci fi theme gives it a special touch. 3.5
