This book is an adventure story set in 1880's California. Miles O'Malley resumes his battle with his arch nemesis, Ah Puch, the Mayan god of death, who has returned to take over the state of California for his personal domain. Along the way, Miles has a knack for running into everything from shipwrecked ghosts to wayward fallen angels in this totally entertaining adventure.

This is an unexpected delight. The pages are so entertaining it's hard to put the book down. I didn't expect such an unlikely premise would be so much fun.
