Eddie Cayce was on the edge of setting up her new life in Seattle - including marriage, kids, and a house with a white picket fence. A Medium Life is the third book in Lynn Cahoon's The Haunted Life Cozy Mysteries, and I've read the previous ones as well as five or six of the author's other series. She's a prolific writer with tons of wonderful settings and charismatic characters. In this collection, Eddie Cayce has returned home to New Orleans and accepted her gift as a seer of ghosts. While running an antique shop, she and her brother are fighting with their aunts and uncles over control of the family business, and often, someone ends up murdered. This time, it's close to home and Eddie must figure out how to save one of her newest employees. She's also attracted to her bodyguard and a local detective, and the new neighbor seems to be setting off a few interesting alarm bells. It all comes together superbly in this fun novella, which I recommend as a great in-between read before and after a thriller or suspense novel. Or if you enjoy lengthier cozy series, it's a good opportunity to get to know the author's lovely writing style.

A Medium Life by Lynn Cahoon sees Eddie enjoying her new condo with Lilac and her new puppy Dr. Dexter.
Can Eddie keep Lilac safe? Can she solve the mystery before they both get hurt?
Eddie has had a good life, in the last few months, being in her condo/townhouse with her two new housemates. Lilac has started to love living in Eddie's new home and having people that actually care for her. She also has been learning new recipes that Annamae gave her to learn. These two ladies are awesome together, and I like seeing how their dynamic changes in each new book. Not only that, but I like how they both sometimes gang up on Nic as well.
The Mystery
Lilac knows a young woman named Skye that she couldn't find one day, but Lilac thinks Skye's boyfriend did something to her. Eddie starts to look into things, along with her next-door neighbor, and her bodyguard does as well since they all want to help Lilac. I wasn't sure who did it, but I did have a feeling. The feeling was heading in the right direction, just the wrong person that I was thinking of. So, I got half of it right this time!

I am giving A Medium Life by Lynn Cahoon five stars, and I'm recommending it to all the cozy paranormal mystery readers out there. Ms. Cahoon keeps me coming back for more of her wonderful characters and fantastical storytelling. I can't wait to see what else she has planned for this series, and how Eddie and Nic deal with all of this new knowledge that they have been receiving.

More mysteries surrounded the new neighbor and Eddie's relatives as she and her friends tried to figure out who killed one of Lilac's street friends--and others as well as why. Eddie still had her hands full with crazy Aunt Franny but that finally got dealt with in a good way. Someone they believed to be guilty of something was surprisingly innocent, but at least the murder at hand was solved.
I know the next book's gonna be the last in this four-book series, so I'm super eager to borrow and read it when it comes out!

Once again author Lynn Cahoon displays her outstanding talent for creating characters who feel alive and ghost that are warm, funny, or terrifying. In A Medium Life, as in the earlier books in The Haunted Life Cozy Mystery Series, Ms. Cahoon makes Eddie Cayce and her friends feel real and make the reader a part of her unique New Orleans world. Two exciting new design jobs thrill the team but trouble lands in their laps before much work can begin. We find out a bit more about her intriguing neighbor and enjoy more of the delicate dance between Bubba, don't hold his nickname against him, and Detective Boone to vie for her attention while respecting her "not yet ready" ban. Double yum. Other than her brother, family is not a happy word and someone in that questionable group of relatives may be behind horrible murders. Eddie may be the next woman on the monster's list.

The first thing that I liked was the ghost on the cover. He kind of stood out. I loved catching up with Eddie and the gang on the next part of their story. Eddie is such a kind hearted soul and she has many issues with family and ghosts. This is actually a quick read and doesn't take long to get through. There is always an adventure and it is fun to see what everybody is up to. I am looking forward to see what happens next.

In book one, Eddie Cayce came home to New Orleans when her grandmother, job, and romance died… the first literally, the latter two metaphorically.
She inherited her grandmother’s estate, and her family powers, which set Eddie and her brother Nic on a collision course with the rest of their family.
She also started a business, found a murdered man, and solved the murder with the help of some ghosts.
In book two, Eddie’s recently hired PR consultant is found murdered, and her ghost demands Eddie’s help.
In this book, we see Eddie’s aunt and uncle causing problems, and her new neighbour is a mystery she needs to solve. Then there is the death of Lilac’s friend, a murder which may have ties to Eddie’s family…
This is a fun, fast read, about Eddie Cayce, the heir to a long line of mediums.
It’s not a standalone, but the third book in the series, and it builds upon the other two books that came before it.
There is a small hint of romance in the series, with two interested bachelors, one of whom actually gets a little ahead in this book, although there appear to be plenty of intriguing men in the books.
This is loosely linked to the author’s Tourist Trap series, though that’s VERY loosely, and you don’t need to have read those first either.
If I had one gripe, it would be that Eddie keeps talking about Edward Cayce, when the famous Clairvoyant was Edgar Cayce. Otherwise the books are fun, fast paced stories, with a bunch of interesting characters- some of whom I hope we’ll see more of in future tales.
The mystery was good, though a little confusing at times (mostly because the means and motive were uncertain), and beg some interesting questions themselves.
An entertaining, quick read, for paranormal mystery lovers.

"A Medium Life" is book #3 in "The Haunted Life Cozy Mystery Series" by Lynn Cahoon.
This is a 124 page novella but there is a lot of story packed in. Eddie Cayce is settling into her new life in New Orleans. Her townhouse condo is warded and her neighbor is a bit of a mystery as she doesn't feel he is quite human. Eddie is also looking to expand her staff at the the antiques shop and design business she owns. One of the people she interviews turns out to be someone she knew from her design school days. Could he be a good fit? She isn't sure. Her employee and housemate Lilac is worried about a homeless woman who helped her find her way off the street - she has disappeared.
Then there is the dysfunctional family dynamics. Her brother Nic is the CEO of the family business but Uncle Arthur is working under the table to take over. Aunt Franny is still livid that Eddie got her grandmothers powers rather than giving them to Franny.
Extra security and precautions' are needed on all fronts to get past all these issues.

The third of a four-part series has Eddie Cayce coming across the homeless girl, Lilac, that Kirk tried to help in the 2nd book. She is shy but decides to apply for a position at the antique shop. We find that she also has the gift of seeing ghosts, which partly explains why she left home.

Again, her aunt is still causing trouble because she was left out of the will and inheritance, which she feels should have been hers. An old classmate of Eddie's from Seattle shows up looking for work and of course the murder of Lily's street friend. Is it all connected?

A Medium Life is a paranormal cozy mystery with psychics, ghosts mind- readers and maybe a witch. Eddie (a female) Cayce owns an antique and restoration store. She has a brother Nic. They can read each others mind and they can see and talk to ghosts. Eddie's employees include Heather, Mel and Lilac. Lilac's friend is killed. Eddie wants to help Lilac by finding the killer. Some of the relatives want to take over the family company. Nic has Bubba watch out for Eddie and Lilac. Eddie and Bubba are friends but are starting to have feelings. This is a good cozy mystery with a good pace and great characters! #AMediumLife. @LynnCahoon

I adore this series of novellas and this installment is no different! Now that Eddie’s settled in her new townhouse with the mysterious Alexander Morgan next door she is hoping her future looks bright until her roommate’s best friend is murdered and her uncle makes a power play to take the family company from her and Nic. This novella seemed to have a slightly darker tone to it that the previous ones but it is still as engrossing. I’ll hate to see Eddie’s story end after the next one!

A Medium Life is the 3rd novella in Lynn Cahoon’s The Haunted Life series. A full mystery in a shortened version, perfect for people who are short on time. A fast paced read with quirky characters, humor, a cleverly plotted mystery, a little paranormal, and set in the amazing city of New Orleans. This is an amazing series.

Silly covers, but great books!!!😁
If I had seen the cover, before reading the blurb about the book, I probably wouldn't have gotten it. (It's childish and doesn't give a good impression of the book!) But I started reading before I saw the cover on my Kindle... And I am blown away with the story and the characters!!!😃 I am eager to read the next book in this fascinating series!!!! 😁

I always have trouble when a book has grammatical errors. Example: "...leaving Nic, Bubba and I sitting...."
The third in a series we aren't given enough information about the history. And then this book seemed to leave me with an unfinished feeling. I realize that it is a series, but if the others are necessary perhaps it should have been called part 1 or something. I did enjoy the hassles that might happen if one has these powers to protect oneself (eg Wards, etc).

This series keeps getting better. I am loving Eddie & her wonderful close family both at the shop & at home. This time one of Eddie's employees is worried about a friend. Eddie gets dragged in when not only a body is found but when it appears that one of the extended family members may be involved.

Really like this series,enjoy all the different aspects . the paranormal, t by e mystery and the potential love interests.
Hope the lone at the end that the fourth book you will be the lat in this series is no correct. But in the meantime looking forward to book 4. Thanks Lynn Canyon for a few hours of escapism.

Great little series
I love the atmosphere of New Orleans and something just a little bit "more" in this series. As Eddie settles back home in New Orleans she is learning who she can trust and who she needs to worry about! While she builds her business and her "family" she needs to watch out for those that don't have her best interests at heart!

This is the best book so far.
Eddie is juggling her shop, interviews for more staff, designs for two projects,
As well as find out who killed Skye.
With the ghosts attack Lilac and Bubba leave the house first.
Then they all go to catch the trolley car.
An old school mate applies for a position at Cayce Treasures.
But there is something off, Eddie's not sure what

I'm disappointed because I had no idea this was part of a series. There is no reference to the early books, and the ending is extremely rushed. The buildup was good, the paranormal aspect was enticing, but it fell flat after the climax. I'm really not interested in the rest of the series. A few spelling/grammar errors throughout the book too.

Happy & Sad
I have really enjoyed the first 3 books in this series! But I'm sad there's only going to be 1 more! I love these characters, love New Orleans and the storylines are great. I definitely recommend them all.

Loved one and two, and held off reading this one until four was published. Really didn't have to as this one could have ended the series. Just a few unanswered questions, but nothing really important. However, I'm on to number four to find those answers right away!

I really like this series. It just keeps getting better and better. So I was disappointed to get to the end and discover there will only be one more new book in the series.

Third in the series, this was just as fast-paced and interesting as the first two books. Looking forward to book 4.
