Abbreviations, Etc.
This most likely is the only book in your library that you are encouraged by the author to write in. In fact if you want to complete this book, you have to fill in all the dotted lines.
Most of what you will read, you come across every day. Some you will fill in quickly, others will be a little harder, and others you may have to look up. They are all on the web.
There are many different topics covered, anywhere from the fifty states to the (NFL) N _ _ _ _ _ _ _ F _ _ _ _ _ _ _ L _ _ _ _ _ (you can start now) and beyond. Many are just groups of letters like 249-CVS and others are words like 250-NABISCO.
Each listing begins with a number. This number runs consecutively from 001 thru 832 and can be very useful at a later date.
There are clues along the way for you, like it is a (medical), (educational) or (military) term. They are also broken down into categories;such as Government, Auto Related or Miscellaneous. Also when the dashes end with a period, the word has been abbreviated due to a lack of space.
If there are some that just do not come to you, the answers begin on page 94, just go to the corresponding number. But make this the last resort.
The author suggests that you begin on page 14 and continue to page 94. Then go back and try the ones you passed up on the first time. If you think of more turn to page 95 and record them.
So order your copy and let the fun begin.
