Felonies, infidelity, and fine art collide on the shadowy side of a quaint American town in this unconventional debut novel. Transplanted from London, England, Marc Clemens joins his colorful colleagues to navigate a slew of ridiculous episodes so absurd it can only be real. As Marc struggles with his love life and creative vision, can he use an artist's observational skills to uncover the misdeeds of the administrator antagonists who bedevil him?Irreverent, enigmatic, and highly imaginative, Mars Violet Evenings examines resilience in creativity and love while exposing the hilarious though maddening dysfunctions of a local art scene.
This is the first book I have read by this author and the first thing that drew me too it was the cover with the bright eye catching colours , and I am so glad I read this book.
This is a book that does have humour along side the life of the main character Marc as he is trying to uncover the illegal happenings in the art world. Although this book isn't very fast paced it still has everything to keep you drawn too it and going back to it. The characters, settings and background are all very well described and bring everything to life on the pages.
This book is a debut and a very strong one - I am used to very fast paced crime books and this book could not be further from the paste I am used to.. It forced me to slow down to adjust to the books paste and style. It is all about main character and his life - inner life mostly. The plot is around Marc figuring out the illegal activities of administrative worker of the art gallery.. It exposed unknown for me world of art gallery and the ridiculously funny but at the same time crazy and unhealthy relationships.. I would read next book by Brian Jacobs for sure as this has spark my interest in his work.
