Fix-a-tion: An obsessive interest in or feeling about someone or something.
Can you pinpoint the moment your life took an unexpected turn? Was it ever up to you…
Ivy Jakes was born and raised in Tennessee. A small-town girl in every sense of the word. Because it’s predictable, she loves working as a barista. It is a place where yesterday, today, and tomorrow could be categorized as identical. But it’s okay. . .completely okay. She likes knowing what you’ll say before the words leave your lips because you’ve told this story a million times. Like an old TV show playing in the background. She’s been living with her boyfriend for almost a year, and although things have been strained since she’s been recovering from an ankle injury, she hopes they’ll be back on track soon.
Like many things in life, the predictable becomes unpredictable, and she’s left to pick up the pieces. Will she land on her feet or be pulled into an unexpectant trap?
Fix-a-tion: An obsessive interest in or feeling about someone or something. Sometimes I envy Ivy’s level of delusion about life lol. She was in her own lil world, just blatantly ignoring every sign thrown in her face. Never thought I’d find myself reading and enjoying a stalker romance, but here we are! I think it’s best to go into this one as blind as possible.
What a debut. I have no words. Yet I have so much to say. I read this as a buddy read and I’m pretty sure I highlighted the last ten percent of the book. I didn’t expect that ending. But at the same time I suspected Ivy would bend. Just read it so you understand. My goodness.
I'm just..... confused cause.... Ivy???? 👀 Whew, there were just too many red flags around EVERYBODY ma'am, and you missed 👏🏾every👏🏾 single👏🏾 one! Deep sigh..... bless yo little heart Ivy, but the level of naivety you had was off the charts honey! 😂 James was trash! You shoulda beat Sam's ass, and I'm still on the fence about Cam. Was he sorta creepy? Yes. Did I think he would hurt Ivy? Absolutely not. Cam was creepy cute, if that makes sense! 😂 Most of this read made me laugh, cause Miss Ivy just didn't know any better! Poor thing! 🤦🏾♀️ Enjoyable read though.
Our FMC Ivy, bless her heart, just floats through life and doesn’t notice a thing unless it messes with her running schedule. I was so entertained and found myself shaking my head at times. The ending did not surprise me at all lol. That girl is truly special.
This story was definitely a good one. I pretty much figured out who the stalker was from jump. It’s one of those stories where you keep reading because you want to know if you guessed the right person and did karma strike all the characters who deserved it. Babyyyyyy Ivy was better than me because the signs were right there in her face and she was too naive to see those shits!!! James and both Sam were pieces of shit and to act like it was her fault and neither one of them took any accountability child bye. Sam would’ve been black and blue and red all over!! James would’ve had his ass whooped while he was tied up. Then to move in like she wasn’t still there and keep their relationship going yea it’s a no for me dawg 😂. People would’ve been hurt. Cam ass was looney he was cute and looney though 🤣. I see why he had the issues he did and I probably would’ve ran from him but in the end I’m happy that he and Ivy got their HEA. They sort of deserved each other.
Mr. Fixation has become one of my fave book stalkers bae. I love how we are left guessing who it is because everyone shows their unhinged side randomly throughout the story until it is revealed. Ivy was too nice and trusting to have them people play in her face for that long. Sam and that man would have felt my feminine rage the minute I caught them. The way the story is interwoven between Ivy's day to day to unknown's struggles to maintain his composure and the therapy sessions is brilliant. We still got inside his head, even if we didn't know until the last few chapters who he was. First book of the new year did not disappoint!
Y’all! I was in the mood for stalker/serial killer vibes but make it melanated and this delivered. This had the suspense and slow burn of the show YOU and I was here for it. I was surprised to find out this was her debut because it read really well and kept my attention. Also, at times it’s seemed like the story was writing in prose and it was poetic. I’m not sure but what I can say is that I can’t wait to read more from this author.
All I can say is IVY GET IN FRONT OF SOME PEOPLE I really wanted her parents to come and rescue her aloof ass because WHAT!?!? Between the blatant disrespect and the extremely obvious red flags and alarming behavior, I was fussing the entire time I read this. It’s definitely a read that keeps you on your toes.
I’m a sucker for a book stalker.☺️ (don’t judge me) I liked the writing style and although I kinda knew from the beginning who unknown was it didn’t take away from the story. I’m glad they got their HEA. Definitely Worth a read.💐
4.5 ⭐️s! This was a really good debut novel. Sam can go to hell. Ivy is a lost cause. And all the men just ... 🙄 but go read it 🤣. It definitely held my attention from start to finish.
