Included in that history is information about the people who lived in the Cimarron region including the Apache Indians, Spanish Conquistadores, traders, trappers, ranchers, miners and railraod men. The book also discusses the violent history of Philmont including controvery and bloodshed over the control of the land from the time of the Mexican government in 1841. Finally, the book includes some of the history of the Philmont Scout Ranch at Cimarron, New Mexico.

Really well written book about the history of NE New Mexico in the areas around Philmont Scout Ranch, Cimarron NM up to about 1970
