Wang Shuyu and Xiao Sheng, two strangers with broken pasts, cross paths one night—a night that leads to a hopeful future together. Wang Shuyu, a coldhearted man, believes that having Xiao Sheng is enough in this life. Tragedy strikes and his world crumbles when Xiao Sheng leaves.
Five years later, Xiao Sheng returns—not alone, but with an adorable four-year-old boy.
Originally cold-hearted turned cold-blooded, is there any love left in Wang Shuyu's shattered heart? Can Xiao Sheng mend the heart that he broke along with his own?
‘The Only Sunflower I See Is You’ is a Chinese BL—Mpreg—Mafia novel. A dark and fluffy romance, exploring the obsessive love and loyalty between two people that must separate. It appears simple yet complicated as they find their way back together.
Volume Two follows Wang Shuyu and Xiao Sheng after they meet again. However, this time, love isn’t just between them, but there's a little child called Xiao Yu involved.
“No matter what problems we have, I won’t have anyone else when my heart still belongs to you. Even without you, I’m loyal to my feelings.”
Okay, so I just finished "The Only Sunflower I See Is You Vol. 2", and wow, I have so many mixed feelings! First off, Xiao Sheng and Xiao Yu are beyond adorable—like, seriously, they’re some of the cutest characters ever! Xiao Yu is such a little sunshine in this book, and their interactions gave me all the feels. But Wang Shuyu? Ugh, he really tested my patience this time around. Even when he tries to redeem himself, I couldn’t fully forgive him for his actions.
This book takes the drama up a notch, especially with Xiao Sheng returning with a child in tow. And let me tell you, the angst is REAL in the beginning. If you’re not a fan of characters keeping secrets and all the emotional rollercoaster that comes with it, be prepared. I know some people don’t love that kind of conflict, and honestly, some parts of it made me really emotional (I cried a dam, no joke!). But the fluff in the middle to the end kind of makes up for it... until you hit that cliffhanger. Like, why do authors do this to us?!
In terms of writing, it’s still got those editing issues that were present in the first volume. I know it started as a fanfic/AU about WYB and XZ, and some of that roughness kind of shows. I’m usually not too picky about grammar, but some parts were a bit hard to get through. Also, the pacing was a bit slow at times—definitely a leisurely read if you’re okay with taking it slow.
I went into this hoping for a fun, cliché read to just turn my brain off to, and while it wasn’t exactly what I expected, it did have its moments. Not the best series I’ve read, but it’s got enough drama and fluff to keep you hooked. I’d say it’s a solid 3-star read for me!
This book was an emotional roller-coaster of a read.
Han Chifeng - My favorite character in this book only because he gave more closure and insight than both main characters on some storylines that held my interest.
Xiao Sheng and Xiao Yu - Two of the most adorable characters in the history of literature (yes, there may be some slight exaggeration there on my part, but it is my opinion, lol).
Wang Shuyu - He pissed me off pretty much this whole book. Even when he redeemed himself, I was still salty with him.
I would suggest that you have volume 3 ready to jump into because there is a slight cliffhanger at the end of this volume that made me glad I waited to read it, so I could start the third volume afterwards (if I chose to read it).
I found the first and second volumes to be long and wordy, which was fine by me. I treated them as leisurely reads, meaning I may have taken a month or so to finish reading them instead of like a week or so.
Okay, I don't always write reviews but I thought I'd give one here. I want to start this off by saying I've read most of this author's books and adored them all through and through, but this one was a hard read as I could not finish it. I'm one of those people that don't really read books with lots of conflict (I love love, and when it's happy all the way to the end, which isn't always realistic, but I want to state why I didn't give this one a fair rating.)
Man, don't keep someone's kid from them!! Especially if they're not a bad parent!!
What in messed up Romeo & Juilet/ Mobster Troupe is this? Twists and turns to be left with heart-stopping action at the end. Hoping the blood feud between two families can finally come to end.
I jumped into this book right after reading the first one which I found better than this. I don’t approve of Wang Shuyu’s actions and the things he did to Xiao Sheng but they are very well in character so props to the author. However, I found them coming together really strange and had me questioning just how realistic and relatable that was. To anyone reading this who wants to know if this book is good or not, let you warn you that the beginning is mostly angst, the middle to ending is fluff and the end of this book is a major cliffhanger. Be warned.
