Text Me: Loving Your Enemy

Rate this book
Text Me is a story that will appeal to readers of true crime, and memoir, as well as resonate with people who have experienced destructive relationship dynamics.

How did I survive seven years of physical, mental, and emotional abuse from one man, then repeat the cycle for several years to come with others? After spontaneously escaping the first man I still allowed myself to be in the same predicament. I accepted hiding in a room listening to a man I called my boyfriend plot to bury my body with his friends.

I was subject to being forced to work and give all my money to this individual who used the words, I’m sorry, and I love you to subside my mental being. My book will not only answer the initial question, how did you escape, but will detail my life before living. I died for seven years when I met a man, I thought I loved. I watched him become my enemy overnight.

True life conversations, through via text messages, word for word. I saved every text message received from demons in my past and wrote a book about them. I too was a victim of repetitive abuse.

Ella Hall is a BIPOC fantasy author, journalist, and creative force behind The Drifters: Awakening the Four Powers—a YA fantasy novel that blends identity, resistance, and magic. Born in Portland, Oregon, Ella grew up surrounded by stories and went on to write her own, giving voice to characters that reflect the depth and diversity of real life.

She is the author of Text Me Loving Your Enemy, a raw and reflective memoir, and has contributed to anthologies like The Sparkle in the Grit and When You Were Fifteen. Her stories often explore the tension between power and purpose, and she’s passionate about creating space for underrepresented voices in literature.

Ella currently lives in Vancouver, Washington, and chronicles her journey through writing, publishing, and vlogging on her YouTube channel, The Drifters Chronicles. When she’s not writing or studying journalism, she’s dreaming up new worlds—where magic is real, the stakes are high, and the underdog always has a voice.
